Vanessa. Thanks for keeping this video available. I made these a couple of years ago when I first started sewing little projects for friends. Now one of my friends, 1500 miles away and new to sewing, contacted me for how to make them. She wants to make some to give away. I forwarded your info to her. Thanks so much for sharing these little projects. I've made just about, if not all, of your small gift ideas!!
Love your videos. I am a self taught sewer who isn't very good at it at all. I had left sewing for quite awhile but since watching your videos I have gotten back into it and because of your easy to follow tutorials I am sewing like a pro! Thank you for your great easy little projects and for being such a wonderful teacher.
Great idea to use French seams on the corners! It makes the box go together so much quicker, easier, and the corners make simple little "handles" for picking up the box.
I just made four of these and I am sure it did not take me more than a half hour !! Made them in my friends favorite colors. Will fill them with homemade caramels and wrap in Christmas cellophane and ribbon!! Their presents are wrapped in the cute Christmas gift bags you had a tutorial on. :) Thank you for all your wonderful ideas !!!! Karen
Excellent instructions. Thank you for all your prep work as I do not enjoy sitting through entire videos watching a project being fully sewn out. Great gift idea.
I've made several of these, and for one, just to test it.... I used Peltex under the felt. It made it very stiff, but for organizing items that need that support, it worked great. It would be worth trying some other interfacings to see which stiffness you want.
Hi Vanessa - I made 3 of these - so far - and have added an extra step to increase the stability. I've sewn a top stitch 1/4" in from all the bottom edges. Now they stand up better, especially the larger one I made for my husband for his keys, watch, ring, reading glasses, etc. Love all your videos!
Ah ha! French seams to the rescue. I have been watching video after video and all over Pinterest tutorials to find out how the little sticky-outie edges are made, because I like how it gives a sharp corner. I wondered if it was French seams.
I have watched quite a few of your videos ! you are so good and to the point, I can make these !! Thank you ! I love these boxes, and baskets, and bags !
Great tutorial......for a future video could u do a video on making fabric cubical storage cube?.....id like to make some for larger storage for my cubical type shelf and have them washable .....ive been searching for a tutorial but cant find any the right size and can be washed
Love. Just watched on my tea break and firstly I was entertained and now also have a great project. Thank you. 😁 I love that you have a speedy way of delivering the information and samples at differnt stages to show. Can't wait to watch more vids now. 😁
Very Cute! Thanks for sharing this and all of your ideas! I wonder if you could reverse the side seams so that the nobby parts are on the inside? I will try both ways and see.....
I accidentally did the French seams in reverse order and the shape of the box is very different, much less boxy. It doesn't hold it's shape or sit as flat. Going to use it "inside out" anyway and make another. These are so easy and fun to make!
I know I'm late, but I'm just finding you, Crafty Gemini! I think it's sweet that you have the bag you made with Jenny Doan of MSQC hanging behind you. You're great!
just finished my first one, not too bad. I need to get a new dog feed for my machine, mine is rubber, not metal. I think that is where some of my problem is with my fabric moving and not moving when I start to sew
Hi vanessa, is this felt really thin? Because in italy we have two types, one is like 1/16 of a inch thin and the other one 1/8 of a inch. Which one would it be better to use for this project? Thanks!

This pattern is SO forgiving. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your videos. Made these several times as I always find a use for them.
Great idea. I love giving gifts/treats in home made boxes nd bags It allows you to jazz up an inexpensive gift when you have so many to give.
+DeeLightful Co And they're so fun to make! :)

New at sewing and different items used for machine.
So cute!!! Thanks again I look forward to all your videos!!!
Oh that's awesome! I knew there was a way to make them more "taller". Btw, what would happen if you gusseted (sp?) the corners?
I made one of these tonight and it turned out great! Thank you!
Love it! So quick and easy! Thanks!
Vanessa, I can never locate the supply list. What kind of felt is that, and does it hold up well? Thanks, you make some of the neatest things!

Thank you so much Vanessa that's so lovely and a great idea 💡. I could see me making a bunch of these.
Great idea , good instructions
Wonder if you could switch the orientation of the french seams and have the poky part on the inside. I'll have to experiment! Love this project!
I was thinking about that too😀
yes just reverse the order of sewing the seams
Very Cute! Thanks for sharing this and all of your ideas! I wonder if you could reverse the side seams so that the nobby parts are on the inside? I will try both ways and see.....
+Charlene Jutras You'll have to let us know how it goes, Charlene! :)

I know I'm late, but I'm just finding you, Crafty Gemini! I think it's sweet that you have the bag you made with Jenny Doan of MSQC hanging behind you. You're great!
Looks quick to make so I think I'll make some (in a smaller size) for the ladies at work and put some of the fudge I'm planning to make in them.
just finished my first one, not too bad. I need to get a new dog feed for my machine, mine is rubber, not metal. I think that is where some of my problem is with my fabric moving and not moving when I start to sew

Hi Venessa, What sewing machine is that? TY.
Are the instructions written any where? Have a group of new sewers that asked for them.
Great Idea Vanessa ( as usual ) thanks for the video lovey xo :)
Amazing
worth waiting for
Too cute.
Very nice
I wonder if fleece is stiff enough for lining, like the felt? Love this project!!!
+Gerrie Louden Fleece would most likely be too flimsy for this one unfortunately.
+Gerrie Louden You could iron on some interfacing and then it might be stiff enough :)
Using a zipper foot might be helpful for the last step.
+Vocalist1969 That's a great idea!
Soooooo nice
Can these be made on a domestic machine
love!!
Good idea
Nice
very nice
great idea and demo,,,,,thank you so very much !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!@@@@@@@@@
What is the name of your sewing machine? I'm looking to buy a new one. Thanks.
+Amita Cherukumilli This machine is the Baby Lock Katherine, it's a great one! :)
make some coloredcpencil holders plz
What foot do you have on your machine ?
Safi murshid🌹❤️thank you
Can u wash the felt
+Lorraine Walden It's best to hand-wash it if necessary, but a lot of washing can cause it to fall apart.
+Lorraine Walden If it's craft felt, it won't wash well at all. I know this from experience.
Also I should add that this tutorial was totally my speed.
+Mary Thomas So glad you liked it! Thank you for watching!!
make a colored pencil holder plz
I am a great fan of yours.
