The 58 sounds better than either Carol, though that's expected. Handling noise is impressively low. Sure, it's "yet another handheld dynamic", but there are loads of uses for them.

You know, I had this thought about mics that some might think are too bright. There’s this trend of people using multitrack tape decks from decades ago. I’m one of em… or gonna be… and mics like that might end up being a good thing for that old tech, with high frequency challenges and such. Boom! I mean, right?! Not dang bad! I don't believe the frequency response curves for a second, but they hold their own against the '58, and that's saying something for budget mics. BTW, there's a +3 as well....
All i can think of with carol is the brady bunch... Is this a Hi-Z mic? Wondering why they give an unbalanced cable with it. I think the internal shock mount is a little too loose... makes the handling noise worse. It almost sounds like capsule moving. Def more mid range than the 58 but looking at the price point.... not bad for a handheld. Now this vs the K669D.....
Yeah, a good low cost option for sure. I looked at their store on A...zon and they have a third mic in their Σ-Plus line for sale as well. Shocking, but it is called the Carol Σ-Plus 3. By the way, they have a discount on the Plus 1 today, and are selling it for 38 clams USD. Regarding your comment on the sE V2 Switch, the handling noise on that mic is really disappointing. It is one of the few sE mics I purchased that raised my eyebrows, not in a good way. I think the build on it is fine, just the handling noise was a shocker. But the Switch does sound pretty tasty for the price.
