Right off the bat I clicked on this vid. I was a kid and Starblazers showed up on tv one afternoon back in the early 80's. "It's a giant battleship with a huge cannon built into the bow"!! (That was a huge selling point for me). I have a couple of 1/700 scale waterline models from tamiya and I've always envisioned a tasteful, slim ocean diorama base holding them. Your display is the perfect size and you did a really nice job weathering your model.
Thanks! Yeah, my dad was navy.. and we lived in Japan when I was little, so this was an obvious interest for me!😅 Oh.. and it seemed every toy store had a wall of Tamiya models. I was in heaven!😅
@@VicsModShop other then changing some interior proportions and redesigning others the exteriors from new series are obviously better rendered. They changed a fair amount of script, but it does miss some of the innocent charm of the original. You really should binge the remakes you won't regret it. I bet it will get those modeling juices flowing doing more Yamato series dioramas.
this is how the yamato looked in 2202 when she crashed on one of the planets in the comet empire. well done!
Thank you!

Hi all! Who remembers this show? It's probably one of the reasons I'm a sci-fi fan now! If you dig it, gimme a like and subscribe! Thanks!!
Big Like 👍
Awesome diorama - what did you use for the spiderwebs or whatever those are on the masts?
That’s some cotton fiber and ModPodge. I imagined it as ocean vegetation long dead and dried out. At least that’s what I had in mind. Thank you!
Interesting. I'm a new Sub on your channel. 👍
Thank you and welcome!
So is this diorama of the new series of the Yamato crash landed on one of the planets that is contained inside the Gatlantian empire comet ship?
Not necessarily.. I was just imagining what this might look like!😊
@@VicsModShop yeah check out episode 19 of Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 2202. Inadvertently you have done a recreation of that.
@@patrickradcliffe3837 haha! Nice. I did look up some of the original series pics.. but of course that was of the original ship. 🤷 😆
