    I'm not from the US, but why do these MLM people assume that corporate jobs are the only 9-5 jobs out there? Aside from professions like lawyers, engineers, doctors, etc. there's also people in jobs in fields like academia, research, development consulting, etc. My job is technically a 9-5, but I'm in a research organization and I get paid for reading and writing research work. And while there are issues with wages in almost every sector, not every 9-5 job is a corporate job, and even corporates hire creatives/consultants who have the convenience of working from home. Consultancy is such a huge thing that even UN agencies hire people to work remotely on a project. So what ARE the benefits of an MLM over a corporate if even the remote work thing isn't limited to an MLM?

      Exactly. Why is the MLM main pitch to only people working a 9 to 5 corporate job? I work 2 part time jobs and can essentially work the hours that work best for me because I work in the restaurant scene and EVERYONE needs employees right now. I would NEVER choose (be forced) to be on my phone 24/7 and showing my face all over social media to sell overpriced products. I've been approached a few times to sell shit and I'm like NO I love my job lol I make 30 bucks an hour, get to do my own thing and I love the work I do, and then I get to clock out and do whatever the hell I want afterwards haha
      Working a scam is just not for me, sorry. ✌🤣

      The MLM Huns are trying to take advantage of the idea that anything with the word “corporation” attaches to it somehow has a bad connotation towards it - especially in some parts of the US thanks to the ranting and ravings of politicians. This is amusing in some ways since, much like these same politicians, the MLM Huns could not actually give you the definition of a C corporation or S corporation much less tell you why one is inherently awful (if you told them their same company was also a corporation their heads would probably explode). Also, since many of these MLM’s compete in the “natural” categories against the products of those evil mega-conglomerate corporations of P&G, Colgate-Palmolive, and Unilever that cheat and do things like employ real chemists and test their products and have real FDA approvals it helps them buy the teachings of their corporation…I mean cult…I mean company…I mean “business opportunity”
      The irony - the corporations they are competing with have some of the best benefits for employees and are female dominated including having female executives so what exactly are they trying to achieve by competing against these companies?
      There is also a degree of class warfare in this for the MLM Huns as well though. You see, the women getting jobs at places like P&G in marketing or product development went to college and majored in chemistry, business, accounting, finance, comp sci etc, because P&G has very little need for “Social media influencers” as they have entered marketing and advertising teams and product teams so deep down the MLM Huns know they would never be allowed through the door in Cincinnati no matter how much Monay Exxon Valdez Oil they sell - so the MLM Huns have to degrade these 9-5 corporate jobs because they know they could never have one and they are jealous - the way they speak of them tells you none of these Huns has stepped foot inside (or anymore logged in from home) in a corporate office in years if ever. We have yet to hear any of these Huns say “yeah I was a product developer at Unilever but when I saw Monay’s new shampoo I knew I had to quite on the spot because perfection had been achieved”.

  • @jaymel4691
    @jaymel4691 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Your argument about the MLM industry ceasing to exist if it became male-dominated was spot on! It also occurred to me that so many women are sucked into working for little/no pay because historically they are used to doing a lot of thankless, unpaid work by themselves. Such as raising children, maintaining a household, etc. Not that people SHOULD EVER be handed a paycheck just for taking care of their families, that would be ridiculous. But traditionally, that kind of work always fell to the women while the men went out to earn the money. Women were conditioned to do their work at home while only the men got a paycheck.
    Even now in two income households, there are still a lot of women that are expected to do a larger share of the housework after they get home than their male partners are. Society has changed and more men are doing their share, but these outdated attitudes still remain, and are ingrained in a lot of women. This sexism has improved but is still deeply rooted in our society. So women are aleady primed to step in and do a lot of work without thinking of expecting payment or even help, which makes it even easier for MLMs to take advantage of them. Especially when they frame it as something women can do to help their families while still being at home with them.
    "Women's work" was never a paid job in the old days, and MLMs try to shoehorn their "business opportunity" into that old-timey psychology of "women's work" but with the false promise of making some extra money as a bonus. It keeps them in the MLM longer because women are conditioned from childhood to put up with unpaid work longer before they quit or complain. Especially if they are doing it for the sake of their loved ones. Anyway I find this fascinating but also extremely disturbing that the entire MLM industry exists to do this to women, and why I will forever be anti-MLM!

    1. I've never had an influencer message me to join them and be an influencer under me...
    2. I honestly don't trust influencers that much when they recommend a product, not because I don't think they like it, but because there is an ulterior motive. And they have tried limited amount of similar products so "this one is the best" when they don't really know about similar products that aren't being sent to them or paying them to promote.
    3. When you work a real job or corporate job when you receive a promotion you don't lose it unless you have had many complaints and aren't completing your job duties not because of not having sold a certain amount or hired a lot of people (because that would cost the company TONS of money to pay so many people a reasonable wage)
    4. At a corporate or standard job a promotion and raise don't just benefit you now but in all further pursuits in the future. When you leave and go to another company you get to apply for a similar level position and not start at entry level all over again. You get to have the comparison and negotiation of pay based on what you made at your previous job and experience.
    5. Standard/ corporate jobs benefit you in the long run because depending on the company and your position there is a retirement plan where not only do you set up a 401k but the company will match a certain percentage that you put in, so basically a long term bonus...

    If the business I work for in the corporate world, for some reason, shuts down or something like that, I can take my experience, knowledge, and achievements to another corporate company and I won’t have to start at the bottom. I’ll be able to start out higher up in the “pyramid” based on the work Ive done and I know I’ll get a steady paycheck with a steady rate. No MLM cares how high you climbed or your achievements in another MLM. You start at the bottom like everyone else making no money. I’ll take a “miserable 9-5” job over a “working 24/7 and still making no money while being told it’s my fault” scam.

The irony is that she was not successful with Rodan and Fields, that she has pulled a page from Rachel Hollis and became a "guru". 😂😂😂

    In a "corporate pyramid" you can also move sideways. Changing the team and activity, but not truly promote. The salary can be similar, can be an increase, but the main difference is that the employee has a different activity, different tasks. For many, this is good. Even if the pay is not loads more, changing the activity is a big plus. In an MLM there is no such thing, you can only go up or down and the activity still is the same.

    I’ve also seen some content creators (CC Suarez is who comes to mind) who have loved something and have been using it for a while, and the company notices and reaches out to them to give them an affiliate link. So their subscribers can clearly see that it’s not just a money grab; it’s them making a small commission off of recommending a product that they truly love to other people.

    It's my opinion that you can tell when something is a pyramid scheme if it DOESN'T make a pyramid anymore if you were to try and put the customer base into the base of the pyramid: because there are so few actual end user customers they cannot make up the base whereas in a real workplace like a popular grocery store you have like 11000 shoppers A DAY and like 50 employees at that local store so the customers being the base of the pyramid would make a very wide pyramid base and the levels of the pyramid for local workers would have a dramatic slope...

    It blows my mind that MLM is in any way legal.
    EDIT: 2:32 Okay, I'm way more sold than I need to be on this.
    EDIT2: The saddest part is that critical thinking, or thinking without taking for granted the validity of an idea beyond the original premise in general, is actively discouraged in US culture. Pretty much all of what you said is a given unless you just weren't taught (Or encouraged to question) how things work/don't work/why.

    The difference between a corporate pyramid and an MLM pyramid is that the bottom level corporate employees are all making the same wages and they are closer to an actual living wage. They get paid for doing their job. Not for referring others to work with them or below them.

  • @psw1623
    @psw1623 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Sometimes a corporation is a pyramid...aaand, sometimes it's a ladder, and sometimes it's a weird distorted tree.
    Also, the people at the bottom are generally making some kind of living wage, or at least are heavily contributing to it. In an MLM, you will never make a living wage unless you get to the top, which you have a 1% chance of doing.
    Get paid at the bottom, or hustle and be broke? I'm going for the office job. 🗳️

    New sub. LOVE your compassion and kindness to all parties concerned. I Have sold MK for over 20 years. not actively, i have 3 daughters a sister and myself. i only place one or 2 orders per year, get the discount and call it a day. i don't recruit. i love the majority of their products and so do my girls. So i am basically a customer. You explained it very well, that you don't like the structure of these companies. I hear you. at the same time, i have never been told to lie or be pushy or go to meetings etc. My experience is good. I Will mention level thrive and Chris watts case. That is a combination of no money was being made, and fb live in your face all the time, and the ingredients in these products are dangerous. They have been sued and the guy won. Same reason i don't do parties, no one knows how ppls skin will react, i don't want that stress. There is only one MLM that makes money and that is Fantasia. They line up for that stuff. Transparency and informed consent is what your channel promotes with empathy. which is very refreshing.
