Thank you, Sam, for introducing me to Marylou Sharrock, her machines and her bestioles électroniques. Possibly I'm shallow (I'm no musician at all) but I really love the aesthetics of her creations, with clear housings and plenty of lively lights.
Fudge! Those bird sounds coming out of these machines so that people in the future go to underground cyberpunk clubs to dance to music that still evokes an emotional response from them because they are the first generation to be born completely without birds in the world but they still remember their parents talking about it
Lol. This reminds me of the circuit I made in 5th grade with the same little speaker, I put it in my pencil case and drove everyone crazy with the chirping birds. 😂
That could be a genuine issue if it is too accurate… Like playing birdsong from your phone, which can confuse birds and harm them (if they hang around because they think there’s a mate nearby when there isn’t, or abandon their nest due to you playing an alarmed chirp etc).
I got spent way too much time in phase plant trying to make bird noises, now I have butcher birds that live around here with the coolest call I need to record it and use it
That's wild, birds. Wild birds. Really, the canary in the coal mine of modern bird simulators. I bet one of those bird simulator suitcases in your hand is worth two of those bird simulator suitcases in the bush. Bird simulators of a feather flock together they say. Thanks, I'll be here all week. Just kidding, I'm flying home tomorrow. Ta dum tsss
If all my astable 555's all worked, and wasn't cannibalized for parts i counted 14.I have experimented so much with this circuit. I have probably burnt 50 ics
Can you make a guitar with a whammy bar similar to a theremin with the hand controls but instead of an oscillator it controls the FX like reverb or distortion
Someone should invent magnetic wires and sockets for these things. Imagine how much faster you could make changes to your sound if you didn't have to pull out the connector and then hunt for the hole you want to connect it to next. If you could just pull on it to break the magnetic connection and then just get close to the next one and it snapped to it with a magnet, that would make switching your patch cables around so much faster. You also wouldn't need to brace against anything. The lid to the suitcase was kind of flopping around because it takes a certain amount of force to insert the patch cable end into the socket. If it was magnetic, that wouldn't be an issue. Maybe use pogo pins with a magnet? I dunno. I'm not an engineer. But I bet it could be done and I bet it would be better.
I think you would need magnetic connectors that could make separate "center" and "ring" connections... and it would have to be easy for the person to guide the cable in for the proper connection, and then for it not to slip. I think it could be done, but not so easy as using circular magnets between the jack and wire.
I'm sure this suitcase is not passing any airport security... also it might get bought by elon musk and turned to an X sound synthesizer (brown noise generator)
@@marylousharrock i got the NTE10/3 - Neutrik, it's good enough the translate 10 V.p.p synth level in to audio level with attenuator., that's how i have wired it on vero board with euro jacks. But thanks for letting me know.

Man, that suitcase is crazy! Absolutely love it. Watching you two messing around with this thing is a joy.
The transparent box that turned your voice into birdsong was remarkable. I loved it.
That thing is amazing! Definite subscribe, would love to see (and hear) more.
Lovely work!
Super neat setup. Can see how much work went into it!
That suitcase is going to be fun getting through airport security 😊
They worry more about a RasPi with antennas or a hacked router.
😂😂😂
Woofers sniffed
Them out
I'll let myself out
The small speaker make a lot of sense in this case, since they’re tweeters.
😂
No they arent
Ahahaaaa
Motherf... That is a fact.
My cat is confused, looking around the room for where the birds are...
say hey to mary! all links referenced including her website are included in the description.

Mary's work is magical.
Anybody else want to see more of these 2 together? They look like such an amazing pair.
Yes they are, I wish I had a tenth of the energy these two have 😂
Definitely
they look like gender swapped copies of eachother lol
Sample her words
Almost fell on floor when she said vibrator
Finally a perfect machine to make dubstep for birds

And these machines are the only thing that survived!
Box, from the movie Logan’s Run, would love it. “My birds. . . . my birds!”
I love the bird synth. Makes me want to see re-edited video of actual birds synchronized.
That thing is for the birds. And I went to her website, her works are beautiful to the eyes and ears both!
I'm a big fan of packaging and this suitcase synth is an awesome example.
Thanks Marylou, I’ve been wanting to try out this after I saw Kelly Heaton’s birds.
I like the self made perf board look with the clear acrylic.
Thanks for sharing love Mary's work ! Fabulous stuff.

I want that bird-in-a-box machine. Ingenius.
Great vídeo!
A bird synthesizer. Now there's an idea that could take off.
😂
Loved that bird synth! Actually sitting in my garden in Brittany with birds (including woodpecker) and frogs chirping and croaking!
Hello fellow Bretilien!
Crazy suitcase thanks for sharing
All the electronics involved are incomprehensible to me, but I just love the what you guys can do with them.
A fascinating case of a synth that can tweet! Nice project.
Great execution of a simple idea!
The birds will try to emulate this.

This is just so cool! You and MaryLou make a great team.
For something that's a home-made prototype, this is one very cool piece of tech.
she's brilliant. great stuff.
That is so delightful! I love the whole concept
Looks like Sam chose his teammate based on hairstyle match.
The voice to bird portion made me think of Mockingjays
That's awesome! I was probably at the store the same day you were! Great video as always!
Very nice job for building a synth that mimics birds Mary. Also, hello.
I'm definitely detect an avian theme in this one. Neat.
I still have that set! Got it 40 years ago! I found it 2 years ago again and it;s sitting on my couch to do a video on... for 2 years :D
awesome presentation what i maybe understood the most was the part that didnt work with the relays
My old elementary music teacher would love this. He takes apart old children’s toys and messes with the wires to make then sound cool.
3:30 I feel like this is what anxiety sounds like 😅😬😂
It is a cool instrument!

I'VE BEEN TALKING ABOUT MAKING THIS EXACT KIND OF CONCEPT FOR YEARS

What cool magic suitcase😂❤😊
How fun!
This is such a cute idea, synth chirps are always fun!
About time you added a digital accordian as a MIDI controller - for the organ?
tinitus anyone lol, its certainly differant, love the voice to birdsong device
This is some of the coolest shit I’ve ever seen.
Very basic stuff
Marylou is the best 💚

I love birds sound
That will be considered classical music when Green Party comes to power in Europe 😅
So geeky and so cute! ...and it all fits in a suitcase!😄👍👍
this brings 'chirping your buddies' , to a new level. this one goes to 11.
Lost me when she said ground with a cable connected to itself. Still a great video though.
A bird sound synth ... there is nothing that cannot be done ... great! Hey Mary!
This is what happens when you forget the K.I.S.S. principle. Interesting though. Kind of.

Duet with this and the owl organ when?
Basically a sort of analog lunetta!
Maybe it's just a sort of lunetta come to think of it. Multivibrators are digital? Idk
This looks like a great device to drive a parrot loony!
awesome

Pretty cool setup!
I had one of those electronics sets, the 160 in one. I may have done that circuit :)
Schrödinger's Bird 👀
Fantastic! Love this!!
Wow, a DIY synth built for chirp!
I always thought of birds as small organic synthesizers 🙂
When your audience is mice, it’s the only imachine I need.

Just a wall of furbys? Not a whole room covered from floor to ceiling in furbys for example? I suggest that as a suggestion.

I see a few transformers.
What's the type?
It is the LT700! But any audio transformers made for small radios should work, you just need to adapt the capacitor values :)
