    The big sets that have colors you don't use could be used in color groups. Kinda like hombre balls of yarn. Get the six browns that are almost practically the same and rubber band them. Get the blues that are almost practically the same and rubber band them. After you do that with all the colors you don't use, you might see them become more attractive and use them together as a group. That's what I saw when I looked at my big set of colors one day. Whatever paint pen you use under them ties the colors of the group together. 😎

      Thats a cool idea for big sets!

    Really inspiring video! I recently cleaned my studio and discovered my neopastels. I have a set of 1 and then I discovered I have a set of 2 from my late father in law! (He was a painter). Now I'm excited to try both..I love seeing your process too!

    Nice video and review April! ❤️ If I may give a suggestion: Stabilo has Stabillo All - pencils (in very limited colours). I use the black one very often and those pencils go very easy on top of Neocolor II. These Stabilo All pencils are made to go on all materials (obviously 😉) so maybe on neopastels to!

      I haven’t heard of those pencils before! I will keep my eye out for them :)

      I use the Stabilo All a lot, too, in mixed media and love it. I use black, blue, and white. It is water soluble. Great tool to have.

      @@monkeymintakaThe black all pencil makes a wonderful inky black. But does it reactívate.? Too lazy to check that out. But if you want a black that doesn’t reactívate, maybe the inktense black pencil, which is also quite black.

      I love to mix up as many mediums as I can :) it’s a lot of fun to play with texture and also see how they work together. Have fun experimenting!

    ohhh this was so handy, thank you !! I've had a big set of neopastels for years that I haven't used much for a while, and saw the recent popularity for neocolor IIs and I was like aw man, why not the neopastels LOL
    So nice to see the differences and that there's neopastel appreciation out there!

      They are so fun! The only annoying thing is how messy they are, as sometimes I can't be bothered to fix them 🙈 Glad the video was helpful!

    Thank you for this video. I love the opossums. 😀
    Caran d‘Ache makes the same colors in every different kind of their products so you can use them all together not worrying about the colors. I’m from Switzerland and I love this brand. Super pigmented even the studio line.

    I also saw those cool tins for your neocolors from Melanie Chadwick, I've been searching high and low for them here in America and no luck so far...😢
    I agree with the neo ii watered down, I'd rather use watercolor or gouache, the neos are too expensive lol! And the possum and babies is soooo adorable!

    • @monkeymintaka
      @monkeymintaka  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, they are cool. I have outgrown them now though, I moved all on mine to one box so I can see them alltogether. But it is handy for plein air sketching.

  • @gwenritch
    @gwenritch ปีที่แล้ว

    extra extra fine sand paper will clean them off…put rice in the boxes, it helps to keep clean

    • @monkeymintaka
      @monkeymintaka  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have heard about the rice technique but yet to try it!

    Just found your channel and love your art!
    Question? Neo color pastels don’t smear a lot?
    I notice no sleeves between your pages.

    • @monkeymintaka
      @monkeymintaka  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      They do smear but when I’m drawing I pop pages in between the last 2 or so pages and that helps when I’m drawing. And then after sometimes I fix them with a spray, but mostly I just leave them. I’m not too precious with my sketchbooks!

    Neo means new or modern. But yeah, I don't understand why they have same prefix either.
