      I'm in the process of building a new pc using the Asus ROG Strix z690-e and 13th gen CPU (waiting on a few final components). While doing some research, I came across an issue people were having regarding flashing the BIOS. The ASUS site says to update the Intel ME prior to flashing the latest BIOS, but how would one do that if building a brand new PC (and without having to grab a 12th gen CPU to get the PC to boot and install Windows)?

Does it provide some future proofing? Lots of confusing info looking back, but I am trying to look forward. Thanks. Oh, I will be using the AMD Ryzen™ 9 7900X3D 12-Core, 24-Thread . Yes, I know, it wont fit EATX boards and its not the board mainly its the case, some cases wont work with it as you can see in this install video: th-cam.com/video/_AJlNxuukww/w-d-xo.html
      I did not have coil whine at the beginning, but now I do, but its soooooo quiet, you have to put your ear on the card to hear it, I will monitor it.

      @ThisBytesForYou  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks bud, I mean its cool that they intended it for that, but as a custom build you can build it how you like, you don't have to build it how anyone prefers or recommends, as long as it makes sense of course. I think it works and looks good this way. The cable used here was the cablemod cable.

    Hi,
    I am just shy that my question is noob-ish, as I have no knowledge in PCs.
    I just bought a Radeon RX 6600 Mech 2X 8G GPU for my son's PC
    and, after watching your vid ""RX 6600 - Sapphire Pulse RX 6600 Unboxing and Installing",
    do I need to do those steps as well or is it just, straight-from-the-box attach and install kind of scenario? 🙂
    do I need to disable anything on BIOS / uninstall anything from my current setup, considering it's an APU?
    my son's PC SPECS :
    Ryzen 3 3200g
    RAM 16 (2x8 gbs)
    1 TB HD
    480 GB SSD
    no GPU

      great, its really a hard one, for me, I would say the Montech since I don't care much for vertical cards, I like the side fans and I think its cool that they included the bottom fan. The lian li is great if you like vertical mounted GPU's, but you do need to buy the adapter. I do love the swappable IO of the Lian Li, I think its a great idea for people like me that keep their PC's on the desk but I like the Lian Li since it can take E-ATX boards.... in conclusion, I LOVE THEM BOTH, but I would say Montech. Installing new RAM shouldn't do that, but I would recommend to go into your BIOS, go into the "Exit" section of your BIOS and select "Load Optimal Defaults", then save and exit, then come back into your BIOS and set your settings, make sure you set your Memory to XMP, then don't touch any of the settings for the RAM and then everything should work fine. If you are not very familiar with your BIOS, I recommend you take photos with your cell phone of every screen bios you load optimal defaults, then set them again. I always recommend updating your BIOS if you have an update.

    • @ThisBytesForYou
      @ThisBytesForYou  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      thank you my friend. So usually no, but I have seen a few that do. So for example, if you go to your support page, for your board, it doesn't state that, on the other boards I have seen that: rog.asus.com/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-z690-e-gaming-wifi-model/helpdesk_bios/
      So in other words, when you get the board, flash to the latest BIOS, configure your bios, install windows, then update the ME firmware and you are gold. Your board does not require it to be done first, so you do it afterwards.

This is my opinion, not a fact but I have not had issues with it, since the ME is a different firmware, I should not affect it. it could be a few things, first, make sure that no pieces of metal or dangle in your USB ports or ethernet ports on the back of the board, the IO sheild has pieces of metal that if installed incorrectly can cause your board to short, causing issues like this, it can happen to anyone. They would fall into these on the back on image #6: www.amazon.com/MSI-ProSeries-Motherboard-Bluetooth-2-5Gbps/dp/B0CQHS7PLL
      The other thing, verify by removing the rear panel of your case, that you don't have too many motherboard standoffs installed, causing your board to short, this also can happen to anyone. If you can't tell from the rear, you may need to remove the motherboard and verify, for example if you are screwing in 9 screws, that there are ONLY 9 standoffs, not 10 or 11.
      Also, are you using different USB cables or USB extension cables than your device brought, if you buy the wrong ones, this can happen as well. USB cables are not all the same.

      yup, I mention it too,, thankfully they made it easy to remove, older cases had them installed with rivets, you could remove it, but it they weren't meant to be removed. Hopefully this video helped you with the ARGB stuff.

      OK, understand I pay for this with my money, I got the cash and M.2 for to review, but everything within it I paid for, I am a smaller reviewer. I have a ton of build videos that will help you, this build one of them, if you want advice on what you should get, I can help you, but this video and maybe others can help you put it together. I wish it was a pick and build thing, I would need to have a day job to run this channel.

    I believe people are more interested in overclock and undervolt … you can try with couple videos and see people reaction

      I agree, but they are incredibly time consuming and I need to work through all the things in my queue to review
