      Josh Beasley For Activities section in the Common Application: What if you listed an activity that you don't intend on pursuing in University? Even if you excelled at that in school. Do you recommend to still list in?

    Hello Josh! Although I wasn't able to ask you this question whilst you were responding to our questions in this video, I have a major concern that has been in my mind for the longest time. I moved to the US during 8th grade from Turkey, consequently I was clueless about everything! I normally was supposed to be in algebra 1 in 8th grade rather than regular math 8 class, however, my school district did not allow me as I was an "international" student. I am currently a sophomore with all honors (geometry honors) classes, and I extremely want to take AP Calculus AB next year, so should I take algebra 2 over the summer? Would that be a smart idea? Or is algebra 2 on its own is too hard for me to fit into a 3-6 month schedule? I am well aware that algebra 2 is mandatory to succeed in more advanced maths, but I feel as if I was in a more advanced math class, it would look more impressing in my application for engineering programs in top institutions that I would like to attend. Also do you think me being an "international" student would offer me some advantage during my application process? Thank you!

      You should also take precalculus before calculus. But if you're good at math, AP calc is definitely something worth pursuing. You should ask your counselor about it.

    • @melissaatmaca7730
      @melissaatmaca7730 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Casey Tran A lot of my friends told me that pre-calculus was just a waste of time, but I'll be sure to discuss it with my counselor as well.

    • @caseytran4451
      @caseytran4451 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it might actually be a prerequisite at a lot of schools

    • @melissaatmaca7730
      @melissaatmaca7730 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Casey Tran I don't think it is in my high school since most of the people transition to AP Calc or Calc honors from algebra 2 straight away.

    • @athenawub
      @athenawub 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on if you are going into STEM or not. Obviously, if you want to major in the humanities you don't need a high level math course under your belt. However, Algebra 2 is an extremely easy course so you can finish over the summer if you tried. Jumping from algebra 2 to Calculus AB might be a rough transition though. You would also need to brush up on your Precalculus skills.

    Hey, You are making really good videos.Appreciate this.
    I have a question..
    I study in high school in another country, and courses here are not called AP- just courses.
    So in my graduate year I have:
    English,Physics,Biology,Algebra,Geometry,World History,Law,Kazakhstan History, Turkish, Russian lang and literature, Kazakh lang and literature, Law.
    So should I write it down as 14 AP courses or what?

    • @kianna270
      @kianna270 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Strongfa1th Sam sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you can't say you took an AP class if you didn't. a class is only AP if it's offered at your school as Ap, you followed the curriculum, and took the test.

    • @cloroxbleach4056
      @cloroxbleach4056 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      "English, Algebra, Geometry" Those aren't even AP classes. Those are classes you'd take in middle school.
