Katatonia have released their live performance of the City Burials single “Behind The Blood”, taken from the forthcoming live lockdown session album Dead Air.
Vocalist Jonas Renkse comments “Here’s our first and (so far) only live rendition of ‘Behind The Blood’ from our latest album, City Burials. As weird as these times are, it gives us a little comfort to know that we made an attempt to defy the situation and did what we miss the most right now: playing a show."
April 2020 saw Katatonia present their eleventh studio opus, the poignant City Burials, to unanimous acclaim but with the unforeseen global event transpiring this year resulting in their album touring plans being put on hold, Katatonia conducted a more intimate “lockdown” show which was streamed live from Studio Grondahl, Stockholm on May 9th. Dead Air offers fans a full 88-minute set containing 20 tracks from the band’s extensive and illustrious repertoire to date, with inclusions spanning two decades of dark progressive greatness, and essentially also debuting three of the City Burials album tracks in a live setting.
The recording, mixing & engineering work was orchestrated by David Castillo, notable for his extensive body of work with Katatonia to date, and the performance itself was professionally filmed by Blackbox Video.

It's annoying that Roger Öjersson didn't get more camera time for those brilliant solos, he deserved it.
On the positive side, his guitar is completely panned to the right and the solos can be listened with a lot of detail :D

I believed that Anders was playing that solos in the album
Since Roger Ojersson joined the band, Anders plays solo only for the previous songs he'd recorded before. Also, Roger sings backing vocals, as you can see, but earlier Anders did. In my opinion, Roger is really technical and great guitar virtuoso!
Anders can play guitar solo but them are more simplistic than Rogers make
@@germanbierma8795 I think Anders did a lot of technical solos in Bloodbath but these days he focuses mostly on songwriting overall I guess. Rhythm after all is more important in a song structure.

I never really liked you as a band until I saw you playing live. My biggest mystery now is why all "official" recordings are so dull and lifeless. Your live performance has great sense of emotion and presence. Even the lousy mobile phone recordings carry through the emotional feeling, but it is not present in the albums. Has anyone else noticed this?

The vocals are not good through most of this. Really flat. Studio magic really did a lot for the furthering of the vocals on the record

Yeah, Jonas is an amazing composer and melody writer, but his live voice is not good, he needs to practice a lot more for live performances.
For this version yeah, but look at the likes of their Santitude show, of Last Fair Day Gone Night, He sounds absolutely superb on them, I think this was just a bit of an off say which is a bit of a shame, that being said he doesn't sound horrid
