NS 6920 Veterans Unit Street Running on 6th Street in Augusta, GA

During the mid-morning, I decided to go to downtown Augusta, GA to catch NS P70 with the NS Veterans unit. When I got to downtown CSX Q692 was departing with a ST70AH leading the train northbound. Right after Q692 cleared the block, NS P70 departs the yard with the Veterans unit leading a few cars over 6th Street into South Carolina. The train would work at least Hamburg and Warrenville.

6920 with a K5LA, I don’t like it. It no longer has voice of its own anymore. The horn sounds nice, but I rather prefer it having the RS5T or the P3.

I have a feeling that the K5LA 6920 has now may last longer than the P3 did, mostly due to how (relatively) healthy a lot of UP's K3LAs on their SD70Ms sound compared to 6920's old RS5T.

Great video and catches! Kinda unusual seeing some of NS's special units now in local service, since the SD60es seem to be becoming NS's engine of choice on local freights.

Yep. A P3 replaced the RS5T last year and then that P3 got replaced by the K5.

Yeah. I think they should put back the RS5T or at least the P3 even though it sounds kinda bad. K5LA's are on pretty much everything rn other than UP and BNSF and a few others.

No it isn't. 6920 had the RS5T, which had fouled out, replaced with a P3. The P3 also fouled, and was replaced with a standard K5LA.
