    I've got a lot of Apple devices and I know I'm not getting the most out of them. That's partly because I haven't bothered to learn all of their capabilities. After watching this video I'm much more likely to make use of the Notes app and I look forward to any other tutorials you might make.

    You are a brilliant presenter! But also, it’s a highly intelligent, well thought out script, giving all the information in a concise, efficient, and professional way. Sadly, that is something so incredibly rare!!!! I can imagine you becoming THE place people come to when they want to learn something quickly and easily. Brilliant work, thanks!

    Congratulations! An outstanding video, that introduces Apple Notes without getting into the weeds. I have decided to use Apple Notes as the sole note-taking device for my Mac, iPad Pro & iPhone. It would be very helpful if there was Calendar app that integrates easily into the Apple Notes sub-system. Is there such?

    • @ProperHonestTech
      @ProperHonestTech  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I believe Apple's own calendar app integrates about as well into Notes as any 3rd party app, although perhaps someone can comment if they know of a better integration?

      You can attach contexts of your notes to your reminders if that helps you. Just select and share the part of your notes to reminder and you can see the reference to that certain note on your reminder.

    I’m 73 years old, and from the 70s have loved technology, especially computers. Was always an Android/Windows guy, but Google drove me away with their non-support of Android apps for tablets. I used to love messing about with PCs, and was the go to guy at work in the early days, when anyone had problems. Now that I’m older, I just want things to work! I don’t want to mess about with my technology anymore. Hence my move to the Apple ecosystem. I’ve been using an iPad Pro (2, 11” & 1, 12.9”) for about 5 years, and an iPhone for about 3 years, I think. I have the XS Max. I’m still using a windows laptop daily (3-5 hrs every day) and I have no trouble with Windows 10, but I will soon be getting my first Mac, and becoming a real Apple fan (not boy, but old man!). Even though it took me awhile to get here, I just want to tell you how much I’m enjoying your videos. You do a great job of explaining things. Thank you! 😊 Oh! Almost forgot, I’ve also recently bought a Series 7 Apple Watch, and the Ear Buds Pro. I got the latter to use with my Apple TV 4K, so I’m all in with Apple. 😁

    OMG, I can't believe that I didn't notice that I could share the TH-cam. videos to Notes. That's the tip of the decade for me and I'm very thankful to learn this this morning. I'd save the videos on YT, and it was very slow and still hard to find, and I couldn't add any other notes. This tip is a real game changer for me. Bookmarks if gone to excess are still hard to find and don't give a person much detail.

    Nice video! I just recently found that if you right-click on a PDF you can save it as a small image and this has been great for me. Also, it appeared with the latest apple event that you will be able to highlight typed items. I'm hoping so, since I have switched completely to just using apple notes but would like that feature

    • @ProperHonestTech
      @ProperHonestTech  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think the hashtag feature coming in the new version will be helpful, I'm looking forward to that. I do feel like it's almost at the point now where paying for a service like Evernote for example just doesn't make economic sense for most people who own several Apple devices.

    Nice video and well presented. I do find myself using multiple locations for notes! I use Stickies on my iMac, I add notes to Gmail contacts, and Gmail diary events reminders and tasks. And, of course, I use Apple Notes. I agree with all that you say, but I would really like Notes to incorporate a reminder/alarm facility. I find that if I create a todo list in Notes, it's too easy to forget an item.

    • @ProperHonestTech
      @ProperHonestTech  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I absolutely agree, I think better integration across the Apple ecosystem for Notes would be great. I think Quick Notes in the new OS goes some way to addressing that, although I don't have the betas so will have to wait and see!

    Very informative video, well presented, thank you.
    One of the most useful features of the notes app that I use is the slide over, where you can draw in the notes app from the (usually) RH side of the screen when on a web site such as TH-cam etc. this allows you to copy and paste to or from your notes without leaving the web site.

    • @ProperHonestTech
      @ProperHonestTech  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is this when you're using an iPad? As I think this is Quick Notes, which is a relatively new feature (but yes agreed, very useful). I've been meaning to cover this in a video actually, so thanks for the reminder!

      Yes, I’m using an iPad Air which is quite old, in fact my updates have stopped at 12.5.5, but although it’s too old to be able to use the slide over feature for any other apps, the Notes slide over has been usable from when the iPad was new.
      Looking forward to more of your videos, they are making me realise what I am missing by not upgrading my hardware.

    Excellent video. I'd like to see how apple notes works with other apple applications. For example, I am a teacher and would like pupils to use notes alongside their learning, especially for script writing when presenting or adding voice-over in Clips.
    I'm pretty sure you can "pull up" notes in Clips for a user to read when making a clips video. In school we use iPad Air devices is it possible to use the split screen function with notes and other apps?

    • @ProperHonestTech
      @ProperHonestTech  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you for your comment! In terms of working with other apps; Apple Notes works in multitasking mode, like all iPad apps. However, the new iPad OS (due out in the next month or so) will not only massively improve multitasking, but also include 'Quick Notes', which kind of sounds like what you're describing (context-aware note taking from anywhere on the iPad). It's pretty slick stuff, and I'll definitely be making a video about it as soon as it's released.

    One of the things I use Notes for is pulling info together into one place! Say I have emails, Pages documents and urls, I drag and drop them onto a Notes page and each one forms a link. This feature makes life very easy if you are facing a meeting (and have to be ready for questions) or are planning something complicated. Try it! When I used this feature, the flexibility replaced all my ‘To Do’ apps!

    I really enjoyed this info. I would like a more detailed explanation on locked notes please?

      Hi - Thanks for your comment, glad you found the video helpful. What do you want to know about locked notes specifically? As there isn't really much that wasn't covered in the video. You can lock notes, and unlock notes using either a password or biometric. There isn't much more to them I'm afraid.

    One thing I use a lot is (are?) tables. I’d like to be able to adjust column widths - at the moment, I have to accept the same default width for all, no matter whether their contents are minimal or sizeable.

      Yup, I agree, tables is seriously lacking as a feature in Notes. I'm amazed they haven't found their way to improving it yet.

    Just wanna ask what’s the difference between the Note app and the Pages app?I find them very similar on basic things,can you make a video about comparing the Note app and Pages?

    • @ProperHonestTech
      @ProperHonestTech  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The core difference is their intended purpose - Pages is a word processor, Notes is just for note taking. But yes, you're right that there's some similarities. Thanks for the suggestion of a comparison, I'll have a look and see if there's scope for it!

    Do I have to be using iCloud photos for this to work with the photos? I don't use iCloud photos but I use photostream. When I click on my Mac notes to take a photo, it opens camera on my iPhone, I take the picture, but it doesn't show up in the note.
    Great video, thanks.
    Oops, never mind. It works, I forgot to click the use photo button

      No worries, and thanks for taking the time to edit your comment! I've been guilty of forgetting to hit that button myself a couple of times!
