FYI - For the tap A not being needed if voice acted assumes that the player isn't deaf. I like that the default accommodates deaf players even if that wasn't intended. Although allowing the player to control that would be a good addition. Late in the game in a cut scene, an important one, the dialog auto advanced and I hit A and it skipped that dialog, so the application is a little inconsistent.
It's funny that people thought it was like Diablo when you can just look at the gameplay and immediately notice the Dark Souls inspiration. I think it's more that a lot of casual gamers don't want a challenge and a lot of Diablo-like games, aren't actually challenging, they're just like farming simulators where you just pick a build and spam your AoE attacks, so for them to actually be challenged is off-putting for them. Funny enough, even Hades being an example of one of the best Roguelites made, is also a sort of top down ARPG, but even Hades can be more challenging than Diablo and games like it. So I'm sure the same people who don't like this game's difficulty probably weren't fans of Hades either even though Hades is so good lol. The talent behind this game is definitely on par with Super Giant and I'm sure when this game is done it'll be amazing.
If games that arent early access are expected to be held to a higher standard, wouldnt that incentivize calling every game early access like we do with prealphas that would realistically just be drawings on a sheet of paper? Maybe im jaded, but to me its all buzzwords to get around having to hire QA, or better yet to have a QA team pay for the right to play. I know not all games do it, but I see it enough for me to put early access in the same camp as kickstarter to save the disappointment.

Hard disagree with most of Cohh's points in this video... a lot of "smartest man in the room" energy
