I bought a 112cdi last week. From an older chap who used it to drive to fairs and markets. The van has been parked inside all its life, and maintained well. It's a 2002 model with 15878km on the clock. They dó exist!
Had a Sprinter a couple of years ago. When I went to see it it was all dirty and hasn't started for 5+ years, 197.000km and no rust. Installed a new battery and it started with the first attempt. Sold it 2 years ago with 240.000km because I was not using it too much but kept it for 5 years, good van and very reliable
Might be a little crusty where it is, but could end up being a decent workvan for someone, so long as whatever rust there is doesn't affect it in any import spots on the body. Clean it up a bit, patch up some of the rust & you'd be right, as these older ones are still good. This one has some nice type of mercedes wheels on it too.

Actually, these were manufactured in Spain … where there is not so much rain and no hard winters with road salt. Still a shame that there are such rusty arbors

i wouldn't say mercedes rust prevent is much good they often appear more rusty than other makes of same age. Did seem to have good oil pressure tho...still useful for moving stuff around a farm if too rusty to go back on road
I have got a meacades.. 113vito 2ltr petrol automatic 2001 .im slowly getting it done bit at time... But not much information on this model... I need to top the transmission oil up.. Because I took the radiator off it has two cooler pipes on it.. There's a little blue screw plug right side of the engine on transmission I assume.. That's where you fill it.... The hole is the size of a pin head.... Dose anyone know anything about this this model... I have a manual.. But its rubbish... The van I've replaced the water pump I replaced the drive shalfs thurmostate brakes disc and pads.. It was sat rusting for years.. I've treated all the rust cut it out.. It started first time..... Hopefully in a throw away world.. I've saved it for a few more years.... But any information on the model or how you fill transmission would be brilliant... Many thanks people stay safe

This is why I won't sell my Vito THX! ... have it for 10 years ... one break down due to a water pump jam, and belt rupture.... The poor thing showed the CHECK BELT sign for 3-4 years... I drove the car in limp mode for 1,5 years... Nobody could tell me what that light was for... (newer trust a car mechanic... unless he is a family member... :D ) CHECK BELT!

What year are you buying? After 1995 Mercedes changed from making the best cars to just good cars. W124, W126, W201 are the last great cars. For example jump to 2000s E320 is not bad but not the same chasis and build quality. E320 v6 and CDI is what I recommend for budget. Modern S class you lease and not really buy used in my opinion. Last true S class was W126 chasis though I drive a late 1990s S500 but it has a huge maintenence bill.
New paint, change oil, clean inside and have a great van.

Old Vitos we’re certainly a nice looking van, despite the rust issues the engines were bomb proof too.
Friend of mine had one of these, ran it up to 867000 miles. Engine and transmission all good. The body rust killed it off unfortunately,
Mine had 86,000 miles and it still rusted so it wasn’t road worthy anymore
