    Thank you! You saved me time, effort, and certain personal injury, to say nothing about loads of money saved. Much appreciated.

    AWESOME!!! I really appreciate this. I used a flat head screw driver for leverage, instead of butter knife. I didn’t even need to run the contraption under water. With my soap mixture, I used filtered water in case minerals in the tap water would clog the dispenser.

    You can just take a nail and hold it with plyers, heat it (I do it over my gas stove flame) and melt a hole in the round recessed area big enough to stick a small funnel into. Fill it back up with any foaming soap, (or make your own). You don't even need to cover the hole back up. Just put the container back in place and it works just as it did before.

      Good idea. I thought Simplehuman sold refillable canisters? I hate that they try to make you but their foaming soap when they already charge so much for their mediocre device. I also not totally happy with their garbage can. In glad I didn’t invest in their more expensive one.

    Thank you!! I bought TWO of these and realized I had just basically bought Soap-K Cups without Paying attention. I was so annoyed!

    Thanks for posting this. I was going to experiment because I figured there was a way to refill these without paying $5 for a refill canister at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. This will work great.

      Brad Morgan maybe have a look on Amazon you can subscrbe. To 1 per month to be delivered or more. This can work out cheaper tham buying as and when needed and checking prices.

    Brilliant! I actually dislike the Simple Human's texture. Your modification creates, what I visually believe to be, improved texture. Thank you for the post!!!

    I do this too, but heat about 1/2 cup water in the microwave 30 seconds, then soak the bottle top until it softens. After a lot of experimentation, I found this pump works best with a less diluted mixture than most foam pumps. I mix 5 ounces of Gel Hand Soap Refill with 5 ounces of Foaming Hand Wash Refill for a high quality foam. I use Method brand. News Flash! January 2019 update: Simple Human now has a refillable bottle with screw on/off top for $8.00.

    Why bother it comes with a refillable container that you can use instead of doing that

      Not the old ones. They changed them to refillable ones

    The round hole with the silicone insert is where the soap comes out of. Just buy a large turkey blaster syringe and just inject your soap into the can. It's less of a hassle than prying it open. And it's cheaper than buying the 8 dollar screw top can. Although giving this company 8 bucks is a kind way of saying thank you for designing a good product and thinking of the consumer and the earth by making a refillable product available.

    The cap screws on and off but is glued by the manufacturer and has notches to lock in place. The first time you take it out, it has to be heated to loosen the glue, then pryed off. I dipped the cap in boiling water for 1 minute.
    When you put the cap back on, twist but don’t over tighten. A light touch is all you need and it locks in place with the notches. If you over tighten, you’ll have to pry it back out again.

    And here I thought I was the only one who MacGuyvered the soap container to save some bones on the cost of the overpriced refills. I peeled the label all the way off to make it all a bit cleaner looking. Did you know SH makes a refillable cartridge now? It's part # CT2000 and it's only $8 free shipping. I just ordered one as it is a screw-on lid so it should be easier to use. Anyway, good job on the video!

      That’s what I heard . But they haven’t fixed the glitches on their foaming dispenser. Still lots of complaints out there.

    Can you just drill a hole in the round indentation and then cover it up with duct tape? That way you just pour the soap through a funnel and close up the hole with duct tape? Saves popping off the lid every time...

    • @paulstein9258
      @paulstein9258 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Douglas Payne Since the butter knife was a pain, worked on the first, not the second, I drilled using a small bit, through the large recessed hole. The recessed hole makes pouring the soap into it easy, though not quick. I did not tape anything up. Works fine.

    You need to use less water with Castile soap if you want thick foam. I think Castile soap makes the best foam .

    I didn’t use hot water but the butter knife worked. Good for one refill. Second refill wouldn’t lock in place. Usable but don’t pick it up.
    The drill idea sounds good. Why use duct tape? Would a open drilled home create an air leak?

    Mine doesn’t have the slits either. Maybe they changed the design to make it more difficult. I drilled the large recessed hole. I’ll update if it works.

    • @sillydrew77
      @sillydrew77 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Paul Stein mine is the same as yours. You have to pry it off but then you will find these little plastic catches around the cup where it catches the lid. I took a knife and cut these away so now I can just screw and unscrew my lid easily to refill.

    • @stopbotheringmedamit

      You may have a newer model with updated soap container, but I have three of these pumps - one bought as recently as 2 months ago and the cap does not unscrew on any of them. I also bought the twin refills that have a slightly different lid (w slits on the top as in this video) and those don’t unscrew either, but the lid is much easier to pry off.
