I have late model (68?) Ford 5000, was cranking perfectly until mice chewed some. I have a brown wire w/thin green stripe that seems to not have a "home". Could it be a wire that may be used in another model, and that's why my mechanic, whom I trust 100%, didn't hook it up? After fixing the chewed ones, it still won't do a thing. I'm not real good w/electrical stuff/understanding. Thanks- love your video as your camera & voice are well seen & heard.
Hey Andrea! Starter/ignition switch is pretty simple on old equipment. You have to find basic three wire: battery constant power wire, wire to the starter solenoid and ACC. I filmed another video couple years ago, check it out: TRACTOR IGNITION KEY SWITCH WIRING | Universal Ignition Switch | JOHN DEERE 2130 th-cam.com/video/_D4t4hwWj0A/w-d-xo.html
I'm trying to rewire the electricity on my grandfather's tractor (bless his memory), but can't get the front high beams to turn on, I remember there was a light and there was also a high beam, like in a car. How do you do that? do you have any idea?
thank you for the video. From the last frontier of alaska.
Thanks Jimmy! I am glad this helped you out. Greetings from British Columbia!
Super helpful man! My wires are way shorter than yours so hard to see ... great to see your approach
Glad I could help, buddy!

@@PistonShack thank you!!! I know I'll have to refer back to this when I'm able to get to it. I do appreciate it & will watch the other video too!
Original ignition switch last almost 50 years. I don't think new one will serve that long)

Are all the keys the same on these universal ignition switch?
No, they are different. I believe there's few variations.
If it's a gas engine, one of the wires should go to the coil
