Definitely want a few gaps in the first row as air intakes. The airflow will then come from the bottom and make the smoke go straight up. Without them, the smoke will be chasing you around.

I have a short section (10 ft wide) of hill that has rocks constantly falling onto my lawn. It would be nice to see how I can build a small 2-3 ft high retaining wall to keep the rocks from sliding onto the lawn.

    1) elevate your firepit just a little so it doesn't turn into a mud pit
    2) Leave a couple gaps in the first layer - this way your fire can breathe and won't smoke nearly as much - it also allows a place for water run -off
    3) I wonder hos that glue holds up with the heat?

The lava rocks are not necessary. After a few fires you wont see em unless you clean the ash out, i usually let erosion take care of the ash but i dont use mine very often

Is it necessary to fill it up with the small rocks like done at the end?

    • @dianamartinez6579

No. That is just to ruse the area and for the look of the Volcanic rock.
