To explain "comebacks", it's much different than in the Western music world. The standard in the K-Pop world is 2-3 comebacks a year, it could be 1-2 songs per comeback or a full album. Blackpink debuted with 2 songs, then two more 3 months later. After that it was 8 months before they released one song, then another full year before they released four more songs, and another full year before they released four more. That's only 13 songs in three years, which is unheard of for a popular K-Pop group.
Jennie's nickname for Rosé is Rosie. Her stage name is Rosé. So most Blinks either call her Rosie (ROH-zee), Rosé (roh-ZAY), orrrr her Korean name Chaeyoung (chay-YEONG) or Chaeng (CHANG). Literally anything other than Rose (ROHZ) like the flower will work!
I’m glad you guys really understand the hardships. Here in America, I always see people dismissing kpop artists (especially women) when they don’t see all the work behind it. Kpop artists are perhaps the most hardworking people in the music industry. Pre debut they juggle training with schooling while also function on less than 4-5 hours of sleep for YEARS. If they debut, their schedule only gets more dramatic and they often find themselves without sleep (besides napping in waiting rooms). They work incredibly hard to bring their best so for people to dismiss them just because of their language or music style is really infuriating.

A year break in kpop is considered too long because kpop groups have a span of 7 years most groups disband after 7 years only few groups reached 10 years so entertainment companies should promote the group so much within the 7 years mark to give the most to their fans and also get the most of them and make a name for the group in blackpink's case they were new to the scene when they were on hiatus normally new groups have to make lots of comebacks a year and promote their music everywhere to make a solid fanbase and get the recognition otherwise you have no chance to be called a successful group it's hard to be famous or make hits when it comes to the kpop industry that's why blackpink fans (blinks) were worried and sad when blackpink disappeared for a whole year with no activity whatsoever fans were afraid that people will forget about them and fans will leave them, but in blackpink's situation instead of being forgotten they had so much new fans and hype around them even when they were nowhere to be seen it was a miracle to comeback after a year and literally murder the charts everywhere and have the biggest hit of the year their song dddd was a syndrome in Korea it was playing everywhere and people were dancing to it and other artists did covers of the song it is the song that made blackpink untouchable. Lisa and Jennie met first doesn't mean they became bffs. The instant besties are jensoo. jennie said they became bffs in just 3 days after jisoo came to YG. Lisa got most help from jisoo as she was the one who helped her with learning korean and lisa said she is grateful to jisoo and chaeng got most help from jen with her dance etc as she said multiple times.
Before lisa's family got an apartment in korea, Jisoo is the one who comes back early to dorm and even take lisa with her to celebrate holidays with jisoo's family so that lisa doesn't get lonely. They are all close but chaelisa treats jensoo like their older sisters while chaelisa treats each other as bffs and the similar with jensoo.

Actually its not normal in kpop to release a single album in a year. Typically, a kpop group needs to do atleast 2 comebacks a year for them to maintain their popularity and ranking; bcs in kpop, the competition is hard. Only Blackpink could maintain their top position with only 1 comeback a year; other groups cannot do it, thats why BP is called The Revolution.

I think that whenever a group of people have to live through extreme hardships, like 4-6 years of intense training and evaluations, when they finally make it through it all, it causes them to become very close due to the shared experiences. But these four had a clear and obvious bond with each other, which YG did not fail to notice. Early on, the haters tried to say these girls weren’t close, but the truth became very clear to everyone. The Pinks have a bond like no other group I’ve ever seen. The really do love and care for each other. 💕🔥

Keep in mind that when they were winning all those awards , they only had 9 songs on their name . They didn't even have a full album yet . And they went on their first world tour with only 13 songs and still have not released a full album yet and all show Sold Out . And they were the first Kpop group to ever performed in Coachella .
I am Korean Blackpink fan. Not all fanmade documentaries portray everything fairly. In Lalisa documentary made by TINXLISA, it focuses heavily on Korean netizen's behavior toward Lisa regarding hate Lisa gets. But I am sure Lisa will agree that a lot more Korean kpop fans love Lisa more than dislike her.

Little unknown fact They were only suppose to do one performance at Co. but they did so good they were asked to do a second near the end. They even wore different outfits for the second one.

ya'll should watch their bbhmm dance practice (predebut evaluation) , their dancin skills as a group really shows there. also blackpink members just say rosie is because it is more like a nickname, cause it sounds cuter. lastly, kpop industry is very competitive, much more than the western music industry. Only really famous artits can afford to not have a comeback for a long time without being forgotten by the public. Usually, the kpop artists would have around 2 or more comebacks every year, and since blackpink just debuted at that time and then had a one year gap without releasing any music made them really nervous if whether ppl would care or not (partially why they even now still really genuinely treasure their fans). At that time they have technically been in the industry for 2 years but only managed to put out 4 or 5 songs, while other artists debuting at the same time have already been givin out at least 1 full album. But quality really beats quantity i guess

Unlike Little Mix and Fifth Harmony, Blackpink has to fight for their place with more than a hundred girl groups in Korea. Of course, being in the top 3 agency in Korea helps and Blackpink has taken the challenge to be the top girl group in Korea to a whole new level.
When asked about the name BLACKPINK, back in 2016, the YG company released this statement:
