7:27 Korea has multiple music shows where kpop groups debut and/or promote their comeback music. Each week music shows would take data from fan votes, streaming, physical sales etc. and would award the group who has a high score over all. It’s not really a competition but more like just fans showing how much they love their group and appreciate their efforts 😊

the reason it was 10 years was coz they lived together as trainees for 4 years...and its been 6 years since Blackpink debuted....so 4 yrs as trainees and 6 yrs as Blackpink.

It's hard to believe after watching a video like this that anybody could dislike these girls. Even if you don't like their music, you have to be a pretty broken human to hate these precious princesses.

They have the most healthy relationship I've ever seen a girl group have. Rosé and Lisa have a very strong bond and so does Jennie and Jisoo and you could probably find seperate videos on that too. They had a reality TV show when they lived together But like everyone else in the comments I recommend the Netflix doco it's amazing.
Also if you want to visit Australia I'll be your guide girlfriend. I'm from Sydney :)

In all fairness, the previous guide you watched was a crack guide done in the tradition of unhelpful guides done for more personalities and very general info. This guide however obviously more in depth to their story and should give insight as to why blinks love their Pinks wholeheartedly. As you remarked yourself they’ve worked incredibly hard for many years to achieve their current status all whilst maintaining humbleness and love for their fans and each other. Global superstars who maintain humility inspire. What should you watch next? I’d at least finish the mvs but ultimately there is so much content from vids like this one, to variety shows, to several reality shows(,Blackpink house, Blackpink diaries, 24:365), the Pinks own TH-cam channels, live performances, dance practices/performances etc. etc. and what’s more, blinks will watch.

Thanks Sydney, one of my favorites. BLACKPINK played Coachella twice, on two consecutive weekends. The second weekend was the better show in my opinion, Jisoo had been very sick the first weekend and the girls seemed more relaxed the second weekend. Also the desert wind was blowing their hair crazy, Rosé's hair was the fifth member that night! Here's an iconic Rosé-focused fancam of KILL THIS LOVE from that performance: th-cam.com/video/rd-nlloznQQ/w-d-xo.html

In Korea, they have award shows/Billboards, MAMA’s etc. When a Kpop group makes a comeback they tend to promote on these shows. It isn’t just newly debuted groups, but senior groups as well.
As of why they had such a long hiatus we don’t really know. YG tends to do this with their female groups. Before the 2022 “Born Pink” Album, they had a two year hiatus.
I would suggest watching “Blackpink: The Dark Truth Behind Fame.” It tells you more about the common struggles they face on a day to day basis. They get large amounts of hate, it’s actually crazy. It’s another relevant part of their history as a group. They where hated even at the start to debut/pre-debut.

You were wondering why they took such a long hiatus, the company/management made them do that. It’s like their marketing skills to starve the fans with content and beg some more. But it’s not like they do nothing around those times, they actually working on the songs and choreography, that’s why they’re breaking charts up until now

i love your videos!! i’ve seen this guide so many times and i’m still crying, i love them SO much they are like the first musical act i liked😭 it’s been 3 1/2 years and i’m still like in love🖤💗 it’s so fun to watch your reactions i love watching people reacting to them and beginning the journey. before i start crying again these are some videos you would enjoy!!
    1. jisoo - you should watch her ‘liar’ cover (camila cabello) she is absolutely incredible. also her ‘yuki no hana’ cover is absolutely beautiful, she has such an amazing voice. also, ‘habits / stay high’ which is another cover. she’s currently the only member without a solo😭 (unless you count one way ticket which is a bad joke for people who need js1 it’s not a real song but it’s funny) she’s also in a drama called ‘snowdrop’ i’m pretty sure you’ve seen clips. she’s an amazing actress and you may not be able
to react to them on here because idk about copyright
    2. jennie, her solo song (called ‘SOLO’ lol) is SO GOOD you would absolutely love it (we’ll see how many times i type absolutely) also, if you like that, you should watch ‘solo-the show remix’ which is the same song but containing a new rap (which is better than the original in my opinion but both are AMAZING) also, on their current tour she is singing a new song (called ‘you and me / moonlight’)
    3. rosé -(AHHH MY GIRL) i can literally talk about her all day but ANYWAY she has three solo songs. ‘on the ground’, ‘gone’, and ‘hard to love.’ the first two are on a solo album for her. on the ground is the title track and is more upbeat, while gone will make you cry. (when i first heard it i sobbed but that is a conversation for another time👍) hard to love is on their most recent release, born pink. it wasn’t announced it was a solo and as i slowly realized it was her solo i was a MESS CRYING ON THE FLOOR- (i’ll shut up) (okay this is like crossed out on my phone i have no idea why ignore that please) anyway, it’s beautiful and i never thought i would hear her say the f word (twice💀) in a song lol
lisa - okay so like whenever i’m recommending people i have a LOT for our lili but you’ve reacted to most things but something you haven’t seen is SG (with Ozuna, Megan Thee Stallion, and produced by DJ Snake.) i would highly recommend it. also, she danced to swalla and an amazing song called take me i HIGHLY recommend. she is such an amazing dancer it’s unreal. also, lisa has many more covers online it would take so long for me to list them all (intentions, i like it)
GROUP - you should listen to lovesick girls, pretty savage) typa girl, as if it’s your last, forever young (it’s like two songs in one) and the happiest girl (if you want to cry it’s so PRETTY)
anyway my hands are falling off i don’t expect you to make it through this lol i’ve been typing forever

Regarding your question for the TV show stages: You're not wrong with your assumption that it's a competition. Each of the South Korean TV channels KBS, MBC, MBC M, Mnet, SBS and SBS MTV airs its own weekly music program with its own music chart on a different day of the week. Male and female groups (and soloists) which have a comeback (or debut) promote their new song on these shows and are judged through nationwide sales of the song, TH-cam views and sometimes other factors like a pre- or live-voting system which factors into the end result. In the end one group takes first place and wins the trophy of that specific show (next day, other show). An "all kill" is when a group wins every first place in all music shows of that week. I hope I got that all right, otherwise other BLINKS can correct me anytime.
The names of the programs are:
    - Music Bank (KBS)
    - Show! Music Core (MBC)
    - Show Champion (MBC M)
    - M Countdown (Mnet)
    - Inkigayo (SBS)
    - The Show (SBS MTV)

Great reaction video. As others have said The Netflix doco is the best source of information about them as individuals. I love all the members. Because each one of them is special and brings something to the group. Some people forget that Blackpink is 4 members not 1 or 2 or 3 but 4. Sure have your bias but do not hurt the others. Because by hurting the others your in fact hurting your bias. They are all extremely close. They have never changed in that they all are loving, caring and kind. They have not allowed fame to go to their heads and remain grounded and just like the Blinks are very loyal to them. They are equally loyal to the Blinks. For example their first concert on the 2022 world tour was a blink only concert but after each concert they always make time to meet with blinks. To me the unsung hero of the group is Jisoo. It is true there is no "official" leader and i believe that is one reason they are so strong as noone is competing against the other. As they have said we each have strengths if a decision needs made then the person with that strength will decide for the group. But Jisoo is the glue that binds the group together. She is funny kind and caring. But, she can also be very tough if necessary. Lisa and Rosė well those two bring the humor and spontaneity to the group. Jennie is very talented and brings her dynamic to the group. The reality is none of them "need" Blackpink they all have their other roles as global ambassadors or acting etc which they could all easily become more involved in. Their contract with YG is up for renewal in 2023 but I do think they will re-sign. There is lots of speculation and vids on YT saying they wont re-sign etc which is made up. Until either YG or the members themselves say something it is only guesswork. Whatever they decide to do I wish them all success, great health but most importantly happiness :). Of course I hope they re-sign. But, really that is a choice only they can make.

To learn about them individually (which is not really covered in this video), you should react to Ultimate Guide to Blackpink 2022, where you find out such things as Jisoo being a Lead Actress in a recent popular 13 episode Kdrama (and winning numerous Lead Actress Awards). Literally, Jisoo is in very high demand as a Lead Actress for KMovies and Kdramas and can just dump Blackpink and be the Jennifer Lawrence of Korean movies which are getting lots of broadcasts in the West (see Squid Games and Jisoo's drama that can be streamed in Disney plus).

I don't know if I understood correctly what you want to know, but the ones you saw BLACKPINK participate in are KOREAN TV music shows in which kpop groups and soloists promote the new released songs, but at the same time in these shows these songs are in competition, through different parameters, and a ranking is defined with a winner obviously getting a trophy! While regarding the formation of kpop groups also in Korea there are shows in which aspiring kpop idols participate and are finally chosen to form groups, but the groups in Korea are not mainly formed in this way. The aspiring idols audition for Korean music companies and face periods, sometimes very long, of training only after which those who will debut are carefully chosen. BUT THEY ARE NOT EVEN GUARANTEED TO DEBUT! Most likely the majority drop out during the training period and NEVER DEBUT! Jisoo Jennie Rosé and Lisa all independently auditioned at YG entertainment and only after that the group was formed! In fact the group was originally supposed to have a different number of members and even a different name! We now see a successful and popular group, but their road to get to this level has been really tough! Hope that helped!

Naked buddies - Jennie and Jisoo went to Jjimjilbang (Korean steam house) and in Korean saunas, you go n@ked. This is normal in Korea, very popular especially in winter. It's a like a spa but people are in uniform clothes in the common areas. There's lots of delicious food available and people can also stay overnight and sleep in this place. There's an episode in Blackpink House (on BP TH-cam channel episode 9-2) that they all went to Jjimjilbang but only on the areas that you can have clothes on lol
Jennie (b.1996) became a trainee in August 2010 when she was 14 years old. Lisa (b.1997) became a trainee also in 2010 when she was 13 years old. Jisoo (b.1995) became a trainee the next year 2011 when she was 15 years old. Rosé (b.1997) became a trainee in 2012 when she was 16 years old.
All of them stayed in the dorm (which is an apartment paid by the company) once they started as trainees. And it was not a super nice apartment when they started as trainees. There was a time when they were not allowed to go home to their parents or to see their family, so it's not surprising that they became so close and have no inhibitions in showing affections to each other, they will hug, hold hands, kiss, tease one another randomly. They are also super protective of one another like crazy and would worry instantly when one of them is not okay.

Basically BLACKPINK takes long breaks because of their company YG, they mistreat them and they’re a very misogynistic company. BLACKPINK is always ready to work and wants to put out more music but their company doesn’t let them so that’s why there is long breaks in between the releases. Regardless though BLACKPINK continues to grow bigger everyday!!

Lisa is my bias (followed by Jisoo) but you can't go wrong with any of them. This is a super sweet video - they're all really close. Rosé and Lisa are really close as they both came from abroad and were the same age but Lisa and Jisoo are also really close. Lisa says without Jisoo she wouldn't be able to speak Korean because Jisoo basically let her go around with her all the time and when couldn't go home to Thailand for the holidays she'd often spend them with Jisoo and her family

So our fandom name is Blinks and the meaning is Blackpink but take "ackp" out equal to Bl- ink. We are the girls beginning and end basically. And another meaning for blinks is also a little light that help shinning the way for the girls when they are having a hard time.

To answer your question why they have such a long hiatus between comebacks, the guide "The Revolution: A Story of BLACKPINK" (came out in 2020 before the release of "Ice Cream" and their first album "THE ALBUM") has a good explanation for that. And it does a deep dive into how the group was created and other factors: th-cam.com/video/LWgnOAMwSRk/w-d-xo.html

you might not see this at all but i feel like none of the comments address it. the company they are in are unfortunately known for mistreating their female artists so like the men in that company usually are the ones that release music the most. a lot of female artist that used to be in that company have come out how the company holds them back and doesn’t let them release music until is beneficial for the company so unfortunately blackpink went through that a lot and since the last girl group the company had went through the same thing and the group ended up terminating. the girls and the fans were worried that they was going to go through the same thing as the last group because they don’t manage their girl groups that well, the good thing now is that it has gotten better the girls renewed with the company and i think they are now more free and have more of a saying on what happens with them and their music which is why they released more often on 2022

Unlike with Western artists where they might release an EP after a couple years, kpop groups usually have a comeback of a few songs every year or so. Then they go on all the shows to promote and perform.
