Most informative and underrated producer on TH-cam. I appreciate the speed of your explanations because 90% of tuts put me in a coma 🥴 thanks ZEN. 🙏🏽⚡️
this is the most genius sidechain kick bass balance tutorial on youtube. seriously genius.i created this as a template and saved as an fx rack to add on my bass channels.. than i stalked this guy on IG and figured even David Guetta follows him :LOL this dude literally opens up my mind on production each time on each tutorial.
Classical method to process bass. A rock producer would have 3 tracks for that. Clean DI, compressed separate low frequencies plus separate mid and high frequencies which will be saturated or distorted and then blend all 3 together. This gives so many options for sound design. Having a reverb before the compressor adds an additional layer. I'd prefer to EQ the reverb so it's less obvious a reverb but it thickens up the sound. Ultra-fat. Great video :)
All your knowledge and information sharing is amazing... it’s what keeps me inspired. When I’m stuck on say bass parts one of your videos pop up and puts me back on track. Thank you and keep doing what your doing cause it’s right!
hey, came back to say thank cause this tutorial just saved one of my songs;) a month ago when i made this track I could not deal with the bass so I muted all the fx s I applied on my bass yes it was clean but the whole groove was gone.. this technique helped to save the groove of the whole track.. could not thank you enough. no wonder why David Guetta folllows you 🤣
Hey Zen, long time listener first time caller. Just wondering why you're videos aren't monitized? You've got tons of subs and views but I never get an advert
2:20 I am not getting it how it should the same. Whenever I put EQ Three on a track then even if everything is set to 0, it boosts the volume up , usually by around 1dB. According to the manual: "The 48 dB Mode especially does not provide a perfect linear transfer quality, resulting in a slight coloration of the input signal even if all controls are set to 0.00 dB". For 24 dB it is even a higher boost. So how do you get it to sound exactly the same ?
Yeah your right all Eq's create phase shifts which create a different spectral response than you might expect. Plugin doctor can show you what your EQ is actually doing. I think he just means it shouldn't sound drastically different. Like if you didn't set the crossovers to the exact same value and had the same frequencies uncut in both your low and high band EQ, doubling up on frequencies for example. Another cool way to change the timbre of a sound is to use multi band plugins like waves vital, C4 or quadrafuzz with no compression, saturation applied and just move the crossovers around. Trippy how that works. IV tried to use linear phase Eq's to combat this problem on my kick drum how ever you run into different problems such as pre ring. Now I just try to use or make a patch/sample that contains the right frequencies from the get go so I don't have to do anything drastic with Eq's to get the sound there. Bass music guys do some crazy shit in Eq's that we learnt not to do in engineering school and get crazy good results. If rules are working for you break em all.
Well explained, and thanks for showing what different effectchains will do to the sound 👍 I'm gonna try it :) Ah one more question, the song in the background how is it called?
So if u wanted to be lazy could u just duplicate the presets and low cut one and then High cut the other ? So one is covering low end and ones covering mids to highs ?
I just bought it through splices rent to own system which is pretty sweet, costs like 10 euro a month or something. I don't know anything about ES2 in logic but I know it's given me a lot more to work with than any of abletons native instruments. At the moment I'm still using abletons instruments because I'm familiar with them but from having a quick mess around with serum it does seem to offer more versatility up front. I wouldn't say its an absolute necessity at all though. Look at the features it has and if there are features you like and lack in ES2 then go for it :)
all I gotta say about this video Zen is..... damn dude. with all of this knowledge. PLZ PLZ PLZ start releasing some tracks . you can get there bro. inspiring as a motha F'er. keep up the great work my G. and thanks for sharing! :D FUNNY P.S. Put some fabfilter "Saturn" on that "trash" yo :D When you introduce the HAAS effect plugin at 8:24, less is more papi, maybe less is more approach is better as to say maybe a little EQ work could have done the job maybe... your thoughts are ALWAYS appreciated. Take care mate, thanks again :D
You could use patcher and then two instances of maximus to split the signal into low end and mid/high to process them separately. I'm sure there are plenty of tutorials!
Ayedi Yesser You could route your bass to channel 1 for example, and then un route channel 1 to the master. but send channel 1 to channel 2 and 3 and have an EQ at the top of the channel 2 and 3 with one set to a low pass at about 150 and then the other as the opposite. Then using the two channel as your low and high effects
He used the wrong way to process it..that's the reason why the result sounds cheap far from a real and full tech house bass...The bass is one of the most important thing in techno ,you can't deal with it in 2 minutes ,You need some real knowledge and patience to make it sounds Big ! it's a real science !!

Dropping knowledge I like how you explain the “why” and not just the “how”. Good stuff!

Very interesting.
By the way, do you know that everytime you hit play, your voice is muted? This can sometimes be annoying.
Nice advanced tutorial
We love Mr Zen!
Thank you very much. Can imagine this is very important for many guy´s out there.
Incredible video! Thanks!
Thank You Really
Question alert- Some skilled producers say you should put the delay before the reverb, so... How about that? Great video btw!
Been doing this for a good while and I'm so thrilled to have a great tutorial to point people to!💯🙌
Thank you

Zen, your tutorials have helped my productivity in the studio 100% any chance you can make a baseline like CASSIMM - We Want This 🙏🏽
I needed this. Thanks!

awesome video as always, keep em comin!
thank you very much, can you make a video about percussion for anjunadeep, colorize and zerothree kind of progressive house?
awesome, thank you!
Creating Ableton-like audio effect racks in FL Studio
?
Is Serum a must buy?... been trying to survive on Logic X's ES2 (im still new to this).

Never would have thought to do something so simple. Going to try it. Thanks! Should I use a linear phase eq so there’s no phase issues?
Really good tutorial!
Subscribed ✌🏻😎
What's that background music.
It's one of his productions, there's a series on it if you check his account. I can't recall the title sorry
Zen, how is the SecretLab chair treating you? I am looking for a quality chair

How about a Kick tutorial like Kettama?
Hey zen, can u make a marco strous style tech house?

Well it's a mainstream career line as well, this industry isn't "just" about making world class tracks and fame lol it gets a lot deeper
Volumeshaper 4 let's u add different side chain shapes to three bands.. lot easier than using LFO tool..
name of intro song?
Night Bass tutorials pls my G!!!!!!!
holy shit this was a good bass
how to this (audio rack( on logic pro
100% perfect mix! Also the best compression hints i've ever seen, simple and effective. Thank you so much Zen!
Top!

It's a ZenWorld original;)
Sry I am late Captain zen..... Btw great vid.

Background song 🔥🔥🔥
👍🏻👍🏻это круто спасибо
Tumpin!
Goddamn I just wanted to sleep and then I noticed your video now i have to watch it 😩
Same here lol
thanks for this tip! never thought about sidechain the frequencies separately. Now i just need to figure out how to do this in FL 😂
You could use patcher and then two instances of maximus to split the signal into low end and mid/high to process them separately. I'm sure there are plenty of tutorials!
you can def do it with patcher.
how to do this in fl studio ( audio effect rack ) ??
look into bluecat audio mb7 mixer, its a plugin that lets u process different frequencies like this video
You could also use Patcher. and set up two parallel EQ's. It might be a little less exact though with your frequency split.
@@jozephusmusic You could also use a couple instances of maximus inside patcher to fully seperate the frequencies.
use patcher.
Remake Julian jordan or Seth hills
I think everyone has that same dent in their Hydro Flask
Awesome trick!
...p.s. you're handsome 🙊
Is it possible that we’re living in Zens World?? 😜😜😝😝

You want to make things too fast without REAL control...the result doesn't sounds pro.
Close enough don't want to be here for 1 hour tweaking parameters
Anyone know how to do this in Fl studio?
