It's great that he didn't die then, but he may eventually prefer that he had. Lars isn't immortal, but he's going to outlive every human he knows. His parents, wife, kids, everyone. It's nice for Steven since he will have someone human around he doesn't have to worry about losing, but Lars is only going to have Steven and his crew eventually.
