Some of your videos say to start from the lowest point, while others suggest start from the highest point. I wonder whether this is a terminology difference. When you say start installing the base cabinets from the lowest point, would it be possible to clarify please? Do you mean the lowest point as in the shortest distance from the marked line on the wall to the ground (therefore the area of the floor which is actually the highest part in the room)?

Great video, such a simple way presented.
I think the part about finding the lowest point is unclear. It’s important to note the base end panels are stock standard height.
So, really what should be said is to find the lowest point and work out the height difference to your starting corner then minus that from 865. That way when you get to the low point that panel will not be too short.
Of course you will need to plane any other end panels to suit

what type of flooring are you installing the cabinets over?
Are the cabinets meant to screwed to the walls?

you mean the high point no low point

In the video, we explain that when we install base cabinets we pick the low point as base cabinet legs can be shortened to keep everything level and kickboards can be planed to match the floor height.
We hope that clarifies.
@@KaboodleAuKitchen if you measure your floor levels and there’s a gap (low point) and is no more than 5mm , it’s far easier to just pack the gap between the top of kick board and the cabinet then screw it into position. It’s either that or plane the kickboards at the high points (I’m not buying a planer for this already over budget reno).
The gaps/packers are all hidden under the cabinets.
@@-ShootTheGlass-this makes no sense. The kickboard is a fixed height, if you pack it, you're then just creating a gap at the top are you not?
Low point of the floor.....to start with....what.....
... placing the first cabinet with adjustable legs almost fully extended to 140mm. Any higher points in the floor can be adjusted for by shortening the legs and planing the kick boards but neither can be made taller than 145mm.
If you pick the lowest point of the floor and it rises (say 5mm) at the point of the end panel, that will make that panel sit 5mm higher than the cupboard next to it. Can that be planed/cut at the bottom like the kickboards?

You can plane the end panel in the same way you plane a kickboard. You'll just need to make sure you seal that end to ensure no moisture gets into the exposed board. Ideally if your planed end is at the top that will reduce the chance of moisture exposure.

@@sethwhite1800 then what if the kickboard isnt deep enough to get right down to lowest point of floor?
@@sethwhite1800 the start position they used was 865mm (to account for the full 145mm kick). If you start at the highest point and them come across a dip in your floor you’re stuffed. So good luck with the decision to start at the highest point, the complete opposite of what you should actually be doing 👍 let me know how you go
planing all your cabinets to level to the low point doesnt really seem DIY friendly. DIY seems more high point and raise to level. im not that experienced in this and need to install a few cabinets

The reason we advise that you start from the lowest point in the floor is that it allows you to plane a kickboard down to match that gap between floor and cabinet. If you start from the highest point of the floor you may find that you're raising some cabinets higher than the kickboard, thereby leaving a gap between cabinet and kickboard.

@@KaboodleAuKitchen i know thats one of the reasons to level to the low point is best, but not everyone has a planer or can plane all of their cabinets. Im sure it wouldn't look very DIY friendly if you had normal cabinets in this video.

Kaboodle is such garbage. The pre drilling has really poor tolerance that nothing lines up. Really poor quality chipboard, dried glue all over the melemine and the price is just as much as paying a cabinet maker
