It's powered by a quad core Intel bay trail processor, the same chip we've seen in a lot of low cost/low end devices over the last two years. It's not a performance powerhouse but it's more than adequate for tasks like web browsing, email, Word and Microsoft office, and even some light gaming. The keyboard is nice too.
My only gripe is with the trackpad. It lacks some of the gesture controls like two finger scrolling that I've grown accustomed to on other devices.
But other than that performance is solid. Even Minecraft runs better on here than I've seen on competing devices.

I just picked one of these up last week. Like you said, the keyboard is great, especially for the size and price. I think this computer is great, I get through the school day no problem. (8am-4pm) sometimes the performance is a bit sluggish during web browsing, which is my only real complaint with the computer. The only game I play on it is Hearthstone, which could probably run on a toaster if you tried hard enough.
*Ninja edit* - I definitely wouldn't run this as my main machine. It is a lighter solution than my other laptop which is quite heavy and dies much quicker due to the hardware being more powerful. As a secondary, or even tertiary machine it's great.

Typing this from the 110s, it feels great and it's almost perfect. It has the gestures for the touch pad and the screen quality is pretty good for a sub $200 laptop. If you're looking for a cheap computer to be a work horse, I recommend this one.

I got the 14" version for 160$ because it had been returned. very worth the money
no 2 finger scrolling, that would be a deal breaker for me.
+Corrosive personally find dedicated Page Up & Page Down work better than finger scrolling
you could just get a wireless mouse its as easy as that
+Corrosive two finger scrolling works on my 100s that I just bought. The settings are kinda buried but you can set it to natural/reverse scrolling, as well as enable various three-finger gestures like swiping up for task view. It's not as responsive as a Mac trackpad, but after using it for a couple of days I'm totally used to it.

Going to be picking this up this upcoming Friday January 22nd to replace my $319.99 PC. So far I am very impressed with the video review of this PC, quad core performance, can actually run Minecraft at a decent level. Web browsing is 3x faster than my current PC that I am using to type this comment. Can't wait to do my full review on it, I most likely will not be doing any gaming just web browsing/Netflix, light emailing. For $179.99 at Best Buy, that is a hell of a deal!

Very cool review. So many things covered in a short time. The test of loading sites and word file was really useful info for me i couldn't see from other reviewers.

When you play Minecraft or any other kind of demanding game, does it constantly get hot or thermal throttle because it is fanless?
It does for me, I usually get 60 fps and when it gets hot It lowers me down to like 40-50

I saw this recently on sale at Frys for about $147 iirc (not higher than $167) so it might pay to sign up for Frys promo codes emails. Did I hear that right from you "great keyboard"? I had a Chromebook Lenovo N20 and quite frankly the keyboard was terrible, completely unexpected from Lenovo, so despite the nice build quality and screen I let it go. The key travel was short and bouncy and it was hard to read keystrokes, a problem for touch typing although not for two finger pounding.
The trackpad should have 2 finger scroll, all the major trackpad companies include that functionality now, I suspect it is the traditional Windows driver/set up problem. You'll have to root around for the control panel, though, sometimes they are buried. That or try a reinstall using the driver website. Let us know if that was the problem! Thanks for another reliable review, you've got me interested, although hardware HEVC decode on the new N3050 Celerons would be appealing!
+MoonstarTehKitten Sorry if I wasn't clear. I saw this 100s in an ad on sale at Frys. I owned the "Chromebook vesion" the N20 and the keyboard sucked. I was looking for some confirmation from Lon that the 100s doesn't have the same problems - very shallow key stroke, and bouncy keys that don't let you feel when you've hit the letter. I often missed letters with the N20.

If this was the newer Cherry Trail chip, which I believe is what's in the non Pro Surface 3, I'd gladly pay $100 more for such a model, so long as the drive was also 64GB. I'd even pay $50-75 on top of that for 4GB of RAM. Hopefully such machines make an appearance this holiday season, but I'm starting to doubt it. This month is almost over, and we'd have seen them by now.
Also a shame the trackpad isn't multitouch. I have a original Cr 48 Chromebook, and even IT had that.

How is it for an overall college student? For watching movies and Microsoft Office use? And is 300S better than this for the same purposes?
I repair these laptops all the time, broken hinges that separate the chassis and screens because people put their elbow on the top when it's closed or they pick it up from one side or they open the screen from one corner and the screen cracks or broken pixels so people should open the screen from both sides or the middle and pick them up using either two hands or slide your hand way under the laptop alleviating stress on the screen
+MrBrymstond and you should be thankfull people can not take care of their hardware :) (assuming you charge for your repairs)
***** Oh I'm thankful, but believe it or not I don't want anyone to suffer for a mistake, but if you're informed and you still continue to abuse these fragile devices, some time the best medicine is hitting them where it hurts so they learn, but I don't hit them with a knockout blow, more like a slap in the face because it's more effective... I charge between 1/4 to 1/3 or .25 to .33% of any corporate place like bestbuy or staples for software as well and they have it back in a day or two, not weeks. My customers are so grateful they always tip me and word of mouth can be more powerful than you can handle! Everyone needs money, but I never believed you should charge top dollar just because it's the going rate of $120 an hour or more. People will give up and throw these things in the closet rather than pay some crazy amount, because I think the way I do, people are pulling these devices out and they bring them to me and they're up and running again and I suggest that these items would make great gifts as well. You just have to work a little harder for that pocketful of cash and everyone's more than happy. If someone can't afford to fork out any cash, barter works just as well for me, I can't do half the things I used to do, but the other half pays the bills.

Without touch gestures on the trackpad, working on this would be painful imo. Is the trackpad not capable, or does Lenovo simply need to make a better driver? Hard to believe they make a touchpad without at least 2-finger scrolling!

I have had trackpads that only work as a mouse pointer and will not have any gestures working until additional trackpad software is installed.
So, trackpads do work like that.
+webcomment Some trackpads doesn't inxlude multitouch. You can't just ad that with some software. It's how the trackpadi is build.
+User_8834 Yes "some" don't, but the ones that do often need a software package to make it work. For instance, many ASUS laptops require "Smart Gesture" software for scrolling gestures to work. Some HP laptop trackpads will not scroll without specific trackpad drivers installed.
It's possible that this laptop also needs a driver or app for scrolling. It is unusual for a modern trackpad to not support any gestures at this point in time.

You should test it with Minecraft Windows 10 edition (from the Windows Store) it's better optimized that the Java edition
