Glad I made a cameo in this video! Always love your photos, BT, and it's great to get a look at how you edit them. Funny that even on my old X1 shooting RAW I have to protect the highlights quite a bit by underexposing by a half to a full stop. Keep the vids on this channel coming!
Great idea. You are so right. We need a creative kick in the pants occasionally. I didn't know my SL (601) did 3:1. I always shoot raw, so never considered it. Just like shooting in B&W mode. It helps with previsualization.
I really like the wide aspect ratio too. Fuji GFX cameras have the 65:24 aspect ratio, which is really nice. They should add it to their APS-C line too, as the current 40 megapixel sensors in the X-T5 and X-H2 have more than enough resolution for such shots. And I like that it is applied non-destructive, as the original Raw file is saved, but in Lighroom Classic the crop is immediately applied in the way it was shot. Great way to get these beautiful 'larger than life' panoramic shots.
The GFX100 II is the G.O.A.T for 65:24 aspect ratio. This is because it can shoot this mode not only in photos, but also in video. And honestly, it removes the need to use anamorphic lenses. And in doing so, you get none of the weirdness that can occur with anamorphics while still retaining the glorious cinematic aspect ratio. TH-camr Ermia Ramez recently made a movie… erh… video showcasing this mode on the GFX100 II. If you watch it, be warned you’ll probably start thinking of which organs you can live without in order to purchase one along with some lenses.
Sony also supports this; at least the modern ones (like a7cr). Check the menus for Aspect Markers and set the Aspect Marker Level to 15 to make the frame lines fully black.
Just discovered you and your channel. Very enjoyable! The 3:1 movie-like ratio is fantastic. Love the photos. Do you happen to have an IG or website where you post your final photos?
Now I know what I've been doing wrong with editing/grading. Only multiples of five. Got it! Great video Brandon!
I’m a psycho.

@@caffeinatedcameras Oh wow, that's crazy!

Yeah for sure. I love that you can shoot raw, keep the raw and still get the Ratio in camera.

Thanks for the insight on how the GFX system works.
Good to have you back mate.
Thank you sir.

Glad you like it. It’s not really why people use ananorphics but glad you enjoy it.

Yes I do! Just my name @BrandonTalbot_ on IG, threads and Foto. I haven’t been on Foto much lately though.
@@caffeinatedcameras Thank you. I've honestly never heard of Foto, so no worries, haha.
I like the content. I’m new to my camera so see other edits is cool.
