Wow! That is crazy. You should put a motor starter on that. Something is going to fail on that pressure switch next and you will be doing a video on the motor. Those 80 gallon models come with the motor starter and 3 wire start pre wired but they are harder to find for some reason. That motor has to be rated for 20+ full load amps right? (I see the capacitors so I’m assuming it’s 1phase 5hp?)
IR in the last 15 or so yrs gone cheap..as seen in your video..no magnetic starter...it's there bottom line to cut cost..I went there to many pressure switchs ..on my old unit..got rid of it...china..parts. then built in America..not America made ..not proud. Of I R.. any more. There now sold in tractor supply stores..El cheapo..I bought a America made and built Saylor-beall. Made in st.john Michigan..American Iron..H.D...built to last a lifetime..my dad had one in his service station..in the 1960s - through 1999..I wish I had his..never an issue. On his..
This is the 2nd video I have watched on crappy I.R. compressors. PROUDLY ASSEMBLED IN USA with cheap, crappy Chinese Communist Party components where the words QUALITY CONTROL doesn't even exist in their vocabulary. Obviously, I.R. doesn't have any Quality Control checks after they assemble their compressors in the USA. What a shame. Guess I'll be checking out another compressor company!!! I have one. Well the SS4L5 60 gallon 5 hp not 80 gallon like his. That would be nice . They dont use the magnetic starters until 7.5 hp. So I added one. Pressure switch is a weak point. Mine came with water and rust in the pump. IR sent me a new one (pump) . The pumps are made in India. The electric motors are US motor (nidec) made in Mexico. The tank is the only USA made part of it.

The sticker says Assembled in USA, with no doubt globally sourced parts. (China)
