You are ignorant on Khomeini's agenda. His main claim during the revolution was to establish a paradise in Iran. He didn't care if his doctrine or ideology was in direct conflict with Islam. Actually he didn't care about anything at all and all of his opponents were nothing more than a bunch of annoying flies to him that should be gotten rid of once it becomes necessary. He considered himself beyond Islam or other Islamic scholars' ideas.
If you were to tell him that Utopianism is kind of "shirk" in Islam, he would have issued a fatwa discarding your idea and then you had to deal with millions of his zealot followers who are now hell-bent to wipe you out of existence.
