    I take it they're all farmed? Awesome job mate, you're really helping to empower many subsistence cultures who can save their entire rainforests by not having to sell-out to mining and logging companies. Butterfly farming is also often adopted by the elderly and even disabled people who can be otherwise considered a burden on society, even the victims of superstition, violence and killings. Butterfly farming is truly a beautiful thing for this planet and your collection is absolutely mint!

      Yes all farmed. And yes I couldn't agree more. Thank you 🙏🏿 🖤 😊

      @@Butterfly_Art_Studio No worries mate. I did a bit of study on butterfly farming and spent a bit of time up there in PNG, even discovered a new species of vine that is still not yet named, another food-plant for the majestic Goliath birdwing. My heart absolutely leapt out of my body when I saw them for the first time. The most beautiful butterfly I ever captured up there though was my wife. The image of heavenly bliss, a uni degree, and handy with an axe too, a truly amazing land of mystery and beauty :) Keep up the good work mate :)

    These hybrid butterflies are so beautiful. We have a similar butterfly Ornithoptera richmondia where I live. I planted some Pararistolochia praevenosa vines and now each year we have the caterpillars and butterflies.

      Let me tell you, so there is a butterfly like that but not exact... , It's a queen Alexandra's birdwing you can find it from may to September, sadly it is February so you can't find it currently, it's available from 8am to 4pm, you can find it flying around near flowers and the price is 4,000 bells

    I am looking for clear acrylic display boxes for mounting butterflies and am having troubles finding a supplier. I was curious if you could recommend a supplier or two?

      Michael Bradshaw i use wooden shadowbox frames. this preserves the specimen far longer than in acrylic.

      No they wouldn't because nobody would see them. Hahahahahaha
      Beauty is only experienced by the observer. They fly so high in the remote jungles that no one would be there to appreciate their beauty.
      And by the way, everything dies and decays. I preserve them for ever for everyone to love and appreciate. That's real beauty.

      Yes I find beauty in dead things. Too bad you aren't able to see the beauty I create as you're clouded by your own judgements. Good day.

    endangered species ? just keep collecting then WTF????

    • @crocdyl
      @crocdyl 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The are regulated but not at all endangered, I study wildlife in Solomons. Insects reproduce exponentially, each female can lay 50-100 eggs per season, grow up the larvae and then before you know it you've got hundreds.

      I encourage you to begin informing yourself on this topic by reading this article called, Killing Butterflies to Save Butterflies by clicking on this link: www.insectnet.com/articles/killing.htm

    • @crocdyl
      @crocdyl 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes I know it well, I'm not sure if you are making a point as the Ornithoptera while regulated by CITES does not mean they are endangered. Difference I stated regulated "yes", endangered "no", although some populations are under threat, mainly from habitat reduction and logging. And there is a distinction in farming (captive breeding) vesus ranching where host plants are grown and pupa are then wild collected (example being Ornithoptera aesacus) on Obi..

    • @crocdyl
      @crocdyl 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As a side note: I even have a form of a birdwing named after me, (Ornithoptera croesus wallacei), Mandioli Island form "bodnari" published by Gilles Delisle 2016, discovery I made with a specimen having ancestral yellow femur on the legs.

      That is indeed a very interesting piece of information. Great that you discovered that. It shows time and time again that the value in collecting cannot be over emphasized. We need to know what exists in the world and collecting provides the best source for cataloguing the known world. Thank you for sharing this excellent story Paul.
