Just bumped into this video because I was trying to get inspiration for a blue magazine butterfly~ Oh my God you just took this whole butterfly thing in my head to another level!! You are a true Artist~ I hope you can add more videos. I am mesmerized.

    Would it be possible to rear Ornithoptera and other lepidoptera especially the rare/endangered species in a large green house with larval food plants?

    It's called "breeding" Most of these butterfly farms they raise thousands of butterflies on and usually let a percentage go into the wild and the rest die in captivity (which is in huge netted off areas of jungle which they probably don't know the difference) They live about 2 to 3 weeks.. If they were all "hunted" they woulda been gone a LONG time ago.

    Anshul, beautiful work. I've watched two of your technical videos on pinning and collecting-VERY helpful. What chemical, if any, do you use in your hydration chambers to control mold? I've read differing opinions on fungicides. Some use naphthalene, others use very small amounts of ethanol, and some use only water. Thank you. -Alex

      Don't bother getting tips or help from that fraud.. The guy along with his wife was charged with fraud & theft that cost over $10,000 last year.

    Do you breed butterflies and insects to stop them from going extinct?

    • @carissaashley2819

      They're not going extinct, lol. Rare butterflies are always off limits and aren't used for farming. This man would have sourced them from a butterfly farm where they are bred (usually in large green-house type buildings.) Raising insects as a conservation effort begun only in the last few decades. The Insect Farming and Trading Agency was formed to control all trade in insect specimens. The IFTA has fostered a program of butterfly farming to encourage protection and preservation of tropical rainforests around the world. In many countries where there is little formal employment, indigenous people are provided an alternative to cutting down the rainforest for the sale of rare woods or burning and stripping land for agriculture.
      And trust me, the butterflies aren't in any danger of going extinct due to farming.

    @adampc22 Try Watkins & Doncaster Naturalists; they are based in Kent and will be able to provide all the equipment that you will need to start collecting insects. You might also consider joining the Royal Entomological Society and/or Amateur Entomologists' Society.

      He, his father and I believe his wife stole over 8 million dollars from the elderly while pretending to donate it to charity and invest it in jobs for the poor. His butterfly company is listed as one of the fake charities in the news report if you look up 'Anshul Fernando'.

    • @coleslaw3365
      @coleslaw3365 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Smooth Triston he's not black--what part of that you don't understand? If you're implying him being black by his skin color then we're on the same page. But you're implying that he's black as in... Black African which clearly he's not. It's not rocket science, bro.. Stop being a moron and you clearly need to take your own advice.

      Smooth Triston
      you're the idiot. You were misinformed from the get-go. You thought he was black but you realized he didn't talked like black so you posted, "Whitest black guy ever..."
      It's okay to be wrong let alone being corrected, bro..
