Great tutorial!!!! Im a woman and shops rip me off all the time for little things like this. Your instructions were very easy to follow and i fixed both mirrors in 45 mins. Thanks!!!
Martecia Kelly AWESOME! That is what I like to hear and this is why I started making these videos! I am glad you got the job done! Definitely consider subscribing! New automotive "how to" videos every Thursday and most Mondays!
I always feel so frustrated when a part of my car gets damaged but these videos showing me how simple the repair actually is gives me the confidence I need to tackle what I need to do. Thank you
Years later, I now have my own 2005 Trailblazer, and this will definitely help me when I decide to upgrade my stock, manual everything mirrors to ones with power adjust, heat, and integrated turn signals (according to the TrailBlazer forums, they're plug and play 9 times out of 10, minus drilling the hole for the mirror control stick.)
just got my mirror completely broken. I still want ch chris fix to this day and am glad i can come back 8 years later and still find what i need - me from december 2022
Thanks for that Chris. I've checked out a ton of how-to's and most have been helpful for whatever I've been trying to repair. However, your videos are put together much, much nicer than all the others I've seen. Not only is the quality (both sound and visual) excellent but you don't talk down to me. You don't speak to me as if I know absolutely nothing about - in this case - a flat head screwdriver and a 10mm socket, door panel clips and wires. I appreciate that very much. this is the only video of yours I've seen and now I'm curious to look at some others - even if I don't need to fix whatever it is. Thanks very much. Oh, and I also wud like to know why you cover your identifying features?:)
Thanks, sir! That was really great and methodical. I am looking forward to replacing a mirror of a different vehicle. There were some really good pointers to look for as I peal apart my door. Merry Christmas!
Def a great in-depth tutorial but I'm so glad my Nissan has a separate cover for that without taking off the whole door cover 😂 almost gave my coworker $40 to not have to do all that myself (just cause I didn't have the time and he seems to always find himself with too much time in his hands 😂). Thank you!
Good ol Philly ! Good video as always Chris, one thing i have learned when working on cars(especially interior bits) is patience is the key to success. I see some people trying to pry a lot of things off especially around the door handle and end up causing more damage then when they started.
Thanks for such a thorough video! It helped me figure out why my door handle bezel wouldn't snap in all the way. I didn't put the door inside the groove.
Hey ChrisFix! New fan here whos watched like 40-50% of your content in the last like three weeks lol. TH-cam problems, but anyways I noticed you never really had any videos of replacing actual door handles and their cables. I have a Ford Ranger XLT with doors that open to the back seat, unfortunately both back doors have door handle problems that dont work, and one was really butchered by the previous owner to the point the entire cable needs to be replaced. The doors open much like how your truck does, where you need to open the front door before the back. Realizing that you probably dont have this problem and the work wouldnt need to be done to your car, but you would awesome if you could make a video of a scrap yard truck that has the process door handles and cables removal. Thank you for your great content, and maybe one day i may see a video on this!
Thanks Chris I'm pretty good at do it myself mechanics , But I was afraid of breaking clips Because I wasn't sure where they were located. Your video showed me exactly where they were located and exactly how to do it only took 30 mins and never broke nothing Excellent video Thanks a lot, Also I'm looking to change a front Bumper on my 2004 Trail Blazer any Video's from you on that would be helpful to.
Great video once again. Thats annoying that someone would steal that. Compared to my Ranger, that procedure for the Trailblazer seems quite a bit more involved. At least you've got yourself a heated mirror now.
I know this video's old, but I was thinkin of it today while I replaced the driver's side rearview on my 2010 Ranger..... The panel was definitely not as tricky as the one in this video, but I did learn one thing from havin to deal with the whole thing: steer well clear of traffic barrels when you're goin fast..... On the bright side, I was able to lube up my window tracks and remove the chatter I've been dealin with for about a year.... hahaha!
TheCharlieLow This video isnt old lol. I will answer comments on any video (even ones that are 3yrs old). That is a good tip LOL! I need to take my ranger door pannel off too because I have a rattle that is driving me crazy!
ChrisFix I don't know how the door panel is in your Ranger, but all I had to do was remove all the screws and raise it up about an inch or so to clear the lock and that did the job. I used WD-40 to clean and lubricate the vertical bar in there, and it worked like a charm.
beautiful video. I have a small advice for you: when you are using the screwdriver in interior tape its head with electric tape. I learned that from toyota repair manual.
Chrisfix, do you know if the knob to adjust the sideview mirrors is replaceable or not. Mine somehow fell into the door. I watched your video and it seems to be attached to the inside door panel that you removed. any suggestions? Your video makes changing a sideview mirror look so easy. Thanks for taking the time to post.
Hey Chris, great vid, quick question, you think the side mirrors with turn signals with work on a 02 LS. I have a busted side mirror and thinking of replacing both but it seems better with turning signals
I have a 2001 Mitsubishi sport es 3.5 and my mirrors don't work and I don't know why also my overhead lights don't work I took the negative wire off of the battery and hooked a tester to it why it was off then I touch the negative battery terminal and the test light came on I narrowed it down to the overhead fuse circuit and I don't know what the problem is yet but the mirror switch I would like to know how to test to see if it's bad I would appreciate some help I've been looking online and I can't find anything about it thank you so much and I love your program
If the motor is bad do you still have to replace the whole mirror? I have a 04 Trailblazer LS is the wiring there for the turn signal? If I replace the mirror with turn signal as mine does not have one will I be able to use it? Mine is heated too.
I want to reattach mine, not replace it. it's a 2001Alero. I had fixed it with epoxy glue applied to the area that seats the mirror to the car mirror " holder" ( dunno correct term ) This vid helped, thanx.
Probably not. The plastic is molded to fit the door where it sits. With that said, if you’re creative you can use an aftermarket mirror and make it work.
why we dont buy another mirror cover to put it on ? we need to change all the hold mirror ? my car Buick 2016 also have this problem , should i order the new cover in ebay it is 45$ per one side
Hey Sir I Am Edward From Mumbai,India...... i Own A Maruti Suzuki Esteem Top Variant.....Can U Make A DIY Video On How To Replace Conventional Mirrors With Latest Hi-Tech Mirror Atleast Basic Electrical Ones... Plzzz Sir..... Will Be Waiting For It......
I just bought a mirror for my 03 trailblazer. The problem is they sent me a heated one and my truck doesn't have heated mirrors. Can I still use it without the heat and still use my adjustable knob?
+ChrisFix Ok. I bought it because the plastic housing on my truck is broke but the glass is good. is there anyway to just use my glass in the new housing you know of?
How do i take the panel off the very back of the door like the trunk area where the glass opens, mine is like broken or some piece inside is loose. Need help.
Dam shame some Bas***d nicked the outer cover :-(( Smashing job :-)) I did notice the odd clothes change mixed with other operations lol, perhaps the next day or you had to go out somewhere, and i suspect some audio dubbing, but if you are doing that its really really hard to tell as the quality is almost constant. Your editing skill is brilliant, i find myself not thinking about the editing or the possibility that you had a break or other distractions so the real time taken was much longer than the video. I agree with the larger nuts/washers, it spreads the force over a larger area :-)) Ooow you called the nuts "bolts" at one stage, perhaps the generic term "fasteners" would be easyer to use, and stop nit picking by people like me lol :-))
zx8401ztv Thanks again bud! Yea sucks people have to resort to stealing. I had to stop filming because the wind was getting so bad you couldnt hear what I was saying. Without the editing, the whole video would take hours to watch and the wind would drive you crazy lol. I did mess up calling a nut, a bolt. It happens lol.
ChrisFix Please understand chris, i wasnt picking fault in any way, it shows that i never skip parts of your videos, im sorry i repeat myself but you make perfect cristal clear videos :-)) EricTheCarGuy uses "fasteners", its a good generic word, less to remember :-)
Levi Prewitt I am not sure. My Ranger doesnt have a rear door. I would check for panel clips. There is no info on any of the ranger forums? What year ranger do you have?
Chris Baez you should be able to tell if you dont yank it off. notice how he went slowly around and if you look closely. esp. with the panel. you can see the clips.
No all wrong just popped the top panel.then unscrew three bolts ten inch socket. Door paneling is made to remove if u having a faulty locks and relaxing a window
Great tutorial!!!! Im a woman and shops rip me off all the time for little things like this. Your instructions were very easy to follow and i fixed both mirrors in 45 mins. Thanks!!!

You may buy a Honda car, which is one of the easiest to fix or replace the parts.
I always feel so frustrated when a part of my car gets damaged but these videos showing me how simple the repair actually is gives me the confidence I need to tackle what I need to do. Thank you
I just want to thank you for this video. It took my husband and I about 15 minutes to do this. Thanks alot

Omg how much the quality has improved and how much Chris has grown including his tools lol
I mean this is quality too
Dude, you nailed that!
Thanks!

I watched 3 or 4 of these before I did yours. Your's is the best by far. Thanks.
Thanks, sir! That was really great and methodical. I am looking forward to replacing a mirror of a different vehicle. There were some really good pointers to look for as I peal apart my door. Merry Christmas!

you in Philly too...love Philly..love the Eagles and Phillies...and love your Chris Fix video..very informative and I learned a lot watching them.
Nistrumone Nice! Thanks a lot man! Glad you like my videos!
Ah the classics. Just bought an 02 trailblazer so these videos are helpful.
Good ol Philly ! Good video as always Chris, one thing i have learned when working on cars(especially interior bits) is patience is the key to success. I see some people trying to pry a lot of things off especially around the door handle and end up causing more damage then when they started.
DJR5280 Thanks man! Yea, the key is definitely patience! It also helps to know where the clips are and the litte tricks to remove them.
Awesome video brohan! You are saving me lots of time. Thanks!
Your the best mechanic I have seen on y tube you make it seem so easy
Great "How to video"....very well done, easy to follow and very informational....Bob,Sarasota Fla.
Thanks Bob!
Easy AF love your tutorial

***** I never did it on the ranger, how involved is it?
Well I haven't actually changed the mirror, but from the looks of it (the inside of the door panel) it appears much easier than on this vehicle.
Nice job Chris

How to remove your Door Panel and replace your Side View Mirror, step by step!
Damn, I just changed mine today with only picture diagrams and now I just found your video lol
Thank you for the video now can do it myself and not pay for it to get fixed very helpful!
anthony biddle Great! That is why I make these "how to" videos! I am glad it was helpful and let me know how it goes!
Ok will do
Thank god, I have a manual side view mirror
Did it in 10 minutes thanks
Did I see a gray hoodie turn red? :>) Another EXCELLENT video, Chris! Thanks, man!!
A LeBlanc Haha, that is what happens when the weather doesnt cooperate and you need to take 2 days to do the job.
beautiful video. I have a small advice for you: when you are using the screwdriver in interior tape its head with electric tape. I learned that from toyota repair manual.
Camry le Thanks for the advice man! I appreciate it! Next door panel I do I will be sure to do that! Stay tuned!
ChrisFix thanks for your reply
Easy fix, thx 👍
Could you do a video on how to replace old plastic mirrors
Thanks for helping me
very good video
If I need to take out the mirror to install an under-mirror intersection light, I assume I use the same method you did in this video?
Chrisfix, do you know if the knob to adjust the sideview mirrors is replaceable or not. Mine somehow fell into the door. I watched your video and it seems to be attached to the inside door panel that you removed. any suggestions? Your video makes changing a sideview mirror look so easy. +Chelsea Price Hey Chelsea, I am not sure honestly.
Thanks, going out to do it now.

I need to replace the mirror on my mom's Mazda Miata. Is it pretty much the same setup?
Hey Chris, great vid, quick question, you think the side mirrors with turn signals with work on a 02 LS. I have a busted side mirror and thinking of replacing both but it seems better with turning signals
***** I am not 100% sure but I think you can buy the ones with the turn signals and it should be plug and play. Dont quote me on that.
Can you recommend a place to get a new mirror? How much did that mirror cost? This will help me since my wife broke the driver side mirror today.

its lovely
How about the glass part only, without breaking it
I have a 2001 Mitsubishi sport es 3.5 and my mirrors don't work and I don't know why also my overhead lights don't work I took the negative wire off of the battery and hooked a tester to it why it was off then I touch the negative battery terminal and the test light came on I narrowed it down to the overhead fuse circuit and I don't know what the problem is yet but the mirror switch I would like to know how to test to see if it's bad I would appreciate some help I've been looking online and I can't find anything about it thank you so much and I love your program

Will this work for a 2015 Toyota Camry le basic model
Someone broken My driver side mirror glass. can I just replace only the mirror instead of the whole unit ?
I just bought a 1986 Pontiac Firebird, do you know of any place that might have door hinges for it?
Perfect
I want to reattach mine, not replace it. it's a 2001Alero. I had fixed it with epoxy glue applied to the area that seats the mirror to the car mirror " holder" ( dunno correct term ) This vid helped, thanx.
What's going on in Philly ?
buen vídeo :D
Is it the same for a Toyota Corolla 2003
0:23 a 10 mm socket, really ?
Come on Chris, you know that's the one and only tool that none of us have.
😅😅😅
I hate the stock mirrors on theses is there any after marker options
Probably not. The plastic is molded to fit the door where it sits. With that said, if you’re creative you can use an aftermarket mirror and make it work.

Chris in the early years when they "Hey Guys!" didn't have as much pep. ;)
Nor all the proper prying tools haha
It's good to see the growth tho

hi. what problem when i want close it auto , can not close only i hear sound tick tick tick.
Can someone tell me the names of the tools he just used
Last time I replaced the mirror, I just cut off the wires and reconnected them using wire connectors. No need to remove the door panel.
Can you put Chevy tow mirrors on a trailblazer? I know you can for a Tahoe and suburban. Someone plz lmk
how do I remove the back door panel on a extend cab ranger I cant find any screws and I don't want to just go to pulling on it
Levi Prewitt I am not sure. My Ranger doesnt have a rear door. I would check for panel clips. There is no info on any of the ranger forums? What year ranger do you have?
I got it off and the speakers I got didn't fit came with a radio.
Levi Prewitt At least you can just keep it off until you get speakers that fit!
when I swaped the front one I seen one them it was premium sound so im going to leave the back ones
How many vehicles do you even have?
***** I work on friends and family cars so I can get a good variety.
Ahh. makes sense
IsteeI left my car unlocked so Sombody stole my steering Wheel ☹️😫😭😱
The Honda cars are the easiest to deal with. There is a socket close to the mirror, then you can replace it without removing the door panel.
Diz happened to me, my passager side mirror, but I jus got mine from junk yard 👌🏼😷
You know where all the are at clips how! Tell me how is that possible
+Chris Baez working on a lot of cars haha
ChrisFix is there something I should read or look at to help me out with that?
Chris Baez you should be able to tell if you dont yank it off. notice how he went slowly around and if you look closely. esp. with the panel. you can see the clips.
Gotta hate a thief.
Garth Mounce Yea man. Sucks.
Someone is selling a 2003 model of this car for $4500 would it be smart to buy it now?
+Cyrano Burleson That is expensive (unless it is low mileage). I can find them in the $3k range with 120k miles on it.
how to steal a car miror lol
Maaan I'm nervous about accidentally snapping a clip.... 1996 Lexus SC400 :O
Ugh, Philadelphia. Such great history and food, but the crime.
No all wrong just popped the top panel.then unscrew three bolts ten inch socket. Door paneling is made to remove if u having a faulty locks and relaxing a window
Why you always hide your face? You are handsome, no need to hide ....:)
What a terrible design, having to remove half the door to get to the side mirror. 🤣🤣
