- Like most students Aoi is a member of an extracurricular club at school and practices archery. Due to ample practice, Aoi is good at it. The members are mostly good friends. All is well until blitz and thunder hit the premises and the school and its students are not the same anymore. They are transported to a different era, one in which samurai roamed Japan.

the mere fact of learning is a valid reason, the thing is, that people see history as something boring for some reason, while it infact is filled with the most epic of events.
if this happened to Americans, most likely you'll just end up in the wilderness and possibly (very very small chance) encounter the local native American tribe who'd probably either leave you alone or try to kill you depending on how far back you go and where
A plot like this one would think they would go the more comedic Disney route, but man...this is absolutely brutal and I love it.

Just in case people are wondering why children are being treated like this is because the people of the past see them as adults as at that age in their time they would be.
exactly in that time period i beleive 15-16 yr olds where seen as adults not kids like they are now in modern japan and most of the world
@@bigbootmen depending on their family situation too. A 15 year old girl could be married off or even younger and boys at 15 would be excepted to either be working or in service. Also would love to see an anime about this.

Fun fact: The real Matsudaira changed his name to Tokugawa Ieyasu, he and his family were very strict that they closed Japan (execpt for the Dutch).
Religion is the foundation of any monarchy so certainly Christianity was a huge threat.

I can't blamed this and I would admit that this is a good intention of being isolated for a while in hundred of years.
Christianity being spread by the Spanish and the Church wasn't really an ideal thing to everyone back then.
It's a good thing to let the word of God be known to all. It's another thing if they forced it to the natives with hostile approach. See how the Spaniards spread their word of God in Mesoamerica that devastated an entire civilization beside looting gold and unknowingly bringing deadly disease that the natives in the new world were not immune by it.
@@rogueascendant6611 Christianity in Japan was first spread by the Portuguese in Nagasaki, not the Spanish, the main reason why Christianity was beign see as a treath was because it was destroying the Japanese feudal hierarchy, equality isn't really a good thing for a stable government, plus many rival daymios to the shogun converted, they were seen as a treath.

We always loved history classes alltho i dont know what country you are from so cant say if its just what we had.
I love the story. All students unified, organized and heroic in saving their fellow schoolmates.
Love also he stayed unselfishly to maintain the history - unification of Japan.

I just realized how OP a modern day school would be in a medieval setting. The chemistry Labs, the abundance of iron, the textbooks in the libraries. If you could bring a modern, well equipped school into a medieval era war. You could singlehandedly change the entirety of history by a HUGE margin. All of that knowledge, technology, complex materials and chemicals. It would fasten humanity's progress by a long shot. You could probably even create a new past empire if the space-time continuum doesn't break under the grandfather paradox and shit like that.
Edit : Imagine if you could bring a whole city into the past. That's the capital for a new global empire right there.
Except that modern people have no real knowledge of medieval times and any woman with knowledge of say medicine would probably be viewed as a witch ect.
@@staley101 a school would have hundreds of students, teachers, and faculties. You don't have to conform to any pre-established societal norms if you're gonna make your own anyways. Who cares if a student who studies in biology gets called a "Witch" by The Locals. You're more powerful than them with resources to build your own empire and plunder the rest.

See "Roadside Picnic", The Remains of an Alien Pitstop Picnic near Chernobyl is now an Exclusion Zone with Mysterious Artifacts and Physics Defying Events. To The Aliens, those "artifacts" are just leftover trash but to humans, those "trash" are a treasure trove of knowledge.
Besides even if The People in The 15th Century "try" to destroy what they do not understand. What chance do they have ??? A Bow, Some Arrows, and a Sword against Makeshift Chemical Weapons, Advanced Knowledge, and Modern Firearms in The Hands of Some Well Trained Security Guard. It would be a massacre if the modern humans wanted to make it that way. Ricin could easily be spread into their food stockpile and would easily be crafted with a mortar and pestle or a chemistry station. Anthrax is an option too if they wanted to try a full on biological warfare.
This is kind of sad because I thought no matter what you do when you traveled to the past you cant change it, there will be ways that history will repeat itself. But omg imma cry with the ending. Bittersweet. Their schoolmates knows that their friend is a warrior :)
I ascribe to the theory of "timelines" wherein our choices are points in space and time where new realities come into being based on MASSIVE choices. Like, somewhere there's a world where Hitler became a great artist, and one where Socrates became an old shepherd no one knows existed.

even if that psycho stayed behind and changed japan nothing will really change because outside of Japan there are many stronger countries, you need a big enough splash to change events.

From a coward to showing the ultimate bravery in the end, such growth.
What I like about this movie is that they portrayed Nobunaga pretty good, while still cruel he is also noble, which is pretty spot on, unlike many other movies/series/anime/game that portray him as villain just because of his nickname and reputation
The small touch about the handkerchief pattern was a nice addition to an otherwise tropey show
This is history class that begins with "some of you may die, but that's a sacrifice worth making"
Honestly if History classes were like this😂 its would have been so easy to remember everything

They were considered adults by the standards of the era. And sparing civilians has only been a hard and fast rule for a short period of time in human history.

This is Haruma Miura's last movie before his death if I'm not mistaken. We lost him too soon. May he rest in peace.
He was a good actor. One of the few actors I've seen from child actor to a matinee idol. I am still rewatching some of his movies and series from time to time.

It's honestly sad that he had to be left behind but I think that's the most suitable ending. It shows how he grew so much and that he is not the same cowardly boy anymore. Also, in the manga, he ends up not with his childhood friend but someone from that time period, which makes me sad cause why didn't the two of them stay or something? I was so disappointed when I read the raws only to see him teaching his now teen son about the ways of war and then mentioning his wife ("your mother blah blah blah"). It just means he got married to another girl or got someone pregnant🥲

@@sierrastanley3109 yes, there is. It's under the same name. But the translation groups dropped it so it'll be hard to understand the later half of the manga.
P.S. they dropped it cause many felt frustrated over MC's late character development. He was being coward for more than half of the whole series.

if you love this type of story there's a book series called ring of fire also called in the main series is by several writers but eric flint is the first of them and there's about 20 plus books now so they are really good.
I can't wait for time travel and how you can just explore in the future or past.

I like the movie but how do they explain all of the students deaths to the parents?
They just come to accept it as some sort of real "test" in a martial arts school.
Some may still think that the school built on some mysterious site was a coincidence.
The ending is kind of unrealistic, I’m pretty sure no surviving student would want to go back to the school considering the fact that they have a small chance of time traveling.
Just carry a katana to school smh
The japanese government would take full control over the school property and stablish a perimeter zone around it to avoid another incident like that.
That or they would probably try to play with time travel too and change history for the benefit of japanese

How the hell would school return to normalcy after that? All of the teachers are dead. Most of the boy students were killed and many of the girls too. That ending scene where there's some students who goes on about their day as if nothing happened really felt off.

Sheeesh Its LIT I Kinda Want A Sequel Now Where Haruka Gets Visions Then Warns The School But Nobody Believes Her But She Just Makes Barriers And Nobody Takes Them Down Cuz Haruka Said If That They Wont Help She Will Help Them By Herself
Maan it hurts me to see the girls taken advantage of, the same thing happened in the manga "Taiga of Genesis" basically it also has a same plot where people from the future are sent in to the past. One woman part of the future group got kidnapped by cavemen and she got "gr4ped" by one, seeing that scenario in graphic detail was disturbing. If you think about it things like that are common and it' disturbing to know it still happens to this day. I wish they just cut off the part that shows the "taken advantage of" part in this film. It doesn't add much to the story anyway.
How the movie did?
I would argue that they keep it in. Sure, it is obviously uncomfortable to watch but I personally think it adds more realism or grittiness to the film.
After all, Japan armies did commit some pretty fucked up war crimes in history. Can't shy away from the truth even if it hurts

At least she isn't in 2022 superpower and leader of the free world and "land of the free" the United States of America, so she can at least abort the unwanted child of assault.
That's a lot common than you ever think in the past where the sense of morals and ethics barely exist during in times of war and conflicts. Soldiers from both sides in those times would often do the unthinkable and the spoils of war especially women are treated like toys and properties. This is how the real world works in the distant past. But that kind of practice still happened today in some countries. Common in undeveloped countries that feeding conflicts constantly but not too rare from developed as well.
