Welcome back to another Feeder Rod review!
This video is on the Daiwa Ninja 10 ft 40g feeder rod.
This review was a bit of a struggle with it being a blazing hot day but luckily I still managed to tempt a couple of carp to give the rod a test out 🎣
Grab yourself a brew or a beer and enjoy the session !

if you don't feel like you particularly like the diwa ninja i would highly recommend the Diwa match man 9-12ft rod it preforms amazing its my favourite please give it a review
Hi Westy, I’ve just been out fishing in london and I caught a 3lb common. Lovley scales and a fun 2 hour session.
Tight lines
For me my favourite is the £15 Korum feeder rod. It works brilliantly for me either single or two rod feeder and I also use it for PVA bags. Ab Fab rod ❤
Cracking rods !
Well worth moving. Awesome video mate ❤
Hi Westy, cheers for recommending this fishery as one that opens dawn til dusk last week. I did last Saturday morning and had a fantastic morning session 👍👍👍, so keep up these great videos and reviews I very much look forward to them! Cheers
That’s Great !! I’m glad you took my recommendation 🎣👍🏻👌🏻
i am new to feeder fishing.
i have a daiwa ninja x feeder 0-150g 3.60m and a korum phase 1/11 ft carp feeder.I saw one of your videos reviewing it,and decided to get one myself.
Love the videos as always and since stumbling onto your channel I've changed the way I feeder fish simular to yours. I'm using the korum phase 1 10ft feeders still. For the price I paid of £15 each I can't grumble at all with them. I've had multiple 8-10lb carp out with them also I've just bought a pair of Daiwa Regal BR 4000's and so far I'm impressed
Can't wait for more videos out of you
That’s absolutely brilliant Tom and thank you for subscribing 🎣 those Korum Phase 1 rods are cracking and I’m so far impressed with the Daiwa regal reels also 👍🏻
Tri cast xrs does absolutely everything ,stillon sale 😊
try the matrix aquos - ultra c or x, beautiful and soft, but with enough backbone to handle carp to over 20lb
great video again westy always hard in hot weather for bottom fishing but thats how i love to fish , i have a phase 1 feeder rod and the preston ignition feeder rod love both of them , they both handle double carp easy. looking forward to your next video if your ever in wales go to hazel court fishery thats my fav place .
I will google the fishery 🎣🎣
Great review, I use Preston monster carp in 10’ & 11’ and for longer casts fox barbel twin tip 12’ , don’t think I’ll ever change , they are probably all classed as antique s now 😂😂, but pure brilliant, for my tench fishing I use the good old John Wilson Avon rod , best rod I’ve ever bought, it’s a few years old now but still holds its own 🎣🎣🎣,
John Wilson Avon Rod ! What a classic, probably will be a collectors item that at some point Chris ! I would be putting that on the shelf 😁
Today's cheap rods are bang on I've got a frenzee fxt 10ft feeder and it's bang on about 45quid,no need to spend loads..... Unless Yr Jamie hughes or rod snobs lol
This is very true 😂🎣
Hi Westy , I have used a leeda combi tip 11 ft rod for some years now ,fantastic rod for ledgering but since since I bought the korum phase 1, 10 ft ledger rod ,for the price and with all through parabolic action the leeda has been made redundant for the time being , great video , nice to see your Dad looking so well ( sorry but but us elder statesmen have got to stick together) . Keep the videos going and tight lines 🥴
The old man is in good health and he had a cracking day that day even with the heat (better peg) 😂 those Korum phase 1 rods really are value!!
Middy 5GX. Through action 10ft. Still available. Fantastic rod
awesome stuf!
Korum all rounder 11ft 1.25tc with 3 tips
Fantastic bit of kit.
I've had roach on the 1oz tip and carp to 24lb on the 3oz tip
Definitely worth it's money
Hi Matt, great film as always bud 👍 that grinding noise you spoke about I also had on 2 original Daiwa yank & bank rods and it used to drive me round the twist. I think its something to do with the ceramics they use in the tip eyes myself. I treated myself to a Guru N-Guage 10 & 11ft feeder rod and there is no grinding noise at all (A-class weren't out at the time) so would be interesting on a review with these rods (A-Class) 😊 keep up the great work pal 👍 😀
It did feel tip related to me. Some people have said the line was too thick but that definitely isn’t the case 🎣 the A class is next on the list 👍🏻 will do buddy ! Thank you 🙏🏻
@WestysAngling yeah, I don't think it's the line as I tried various lines. I even set the rod up without the tip in place, and guess what? There's no grinding noise so it's defo the tip causing the problem imo 🤷 😉
Same grinding noise with my N’zon. Have to wonder if it is doing something adverse to the line. Would like to know if I can get alternative tips.
Niv vlog as usual.
I use the Sonik SKSC commercial feeder 9 and 10 foot. Cracking rods and cheap as chips.
Stay safe and thanks
I use sonik carp rods and so does my dad ! Had Cats to 45lb on them, good quality gear 👍🏻
Korum all-rounder quiver is a great rod lives up to it's name
Preston ignition is my preference, seems to fit everything you are looking for and ive had carp over 22Lb on it. Ill try n find the exact model for you if i remember. Even has the dull blank
People seem to love the Preston rods ! I definitely respect your advice on this Ste, that is an absolutely cracking carp on a feeder rod, where was that ? !
@@WestysAngling i go carp fishing every year for a few days, a rare excursion to the dark side of big fish hunting. It was at stanwick lakes, northampton. Off there again mid august, got bored waiting for the carp alarms so did a few hours on method and bagged a couple of doubles.
I use the drennan super pro , bit long at 12 feet but a very good rod for the bigger commercials , also a try cast trophy 11 foot, 30 years old but still going strong , b.t.way great honest review. Also I've been told the korum feeder rod is well worth the money at £49.
Korum feeder rods are great Arthur 👍🏻👌🏻🎣 thank you for commenting and sharing your favourite 🎣
Have a look at the Shimano X5 rods. I bought mine to replace my Speedmaster and the handle is the correct length. There's 3'' more carbon in front of the handle.
Great recommendation David thank you !
Its a great rod l hope you do buy one and then perhaps review it. . I haven't got one but the 9-11 gets good reviews. Only downside for some is it has to be fished at the length you set it up at. You have to break down to add or remove a section' That wouldn't be a problem for me as the ring spacing's are just right for me. At 9' adding a 2' piece without rings would make the gap to first ring too great .
another great product review mat ...i like a through action mat but a minumum 2 or 3 oz tip i like a 40 gram method ....try the...KAMASAN ANIMAL CARP FEEDER RODS...they come in 9 and 10 foot ..great through action for those lumps...and very rare ya get hook pulls or snap offs...under the tip...tight lines as always....
I will have a look that them !! Thanks Kev 🎣
I use the Daiwa Ninja you tested, not had the issues you had with the grinding, snapped the 1oz tip today so I’m not happy!
Oh dear !! I haven’t been unlucky enough to snap a feeder tip yet but I know it happens !
@@WestysAngling snapped lots...at least 4...
@@franzmordhiem670 Check drag on your reel sounds too tight.
I broke the top part and no refund 😢
No daiwa for me anymore
I’m a speed master fan myself especially the float rods Iv got one myself but I snapped the end couldn’t find another .
I have a Drennan, 11 to 12 foot 6 inch Still Water Feeder rod (2 separate top sections, no middle dolly so no Dead Spot) No Idea about price - it was gifted to me by a workmate, & fellow Angler who's father in law had passed away. He also gave me around 6 tips which all fit.
Last year i had this exact same rod had a 14 lb mirror on it.Had it paired with a Daiwa Ninja reel. Not the best tackle but decent. The Shimano x1 i had before that and in my opinion even if cheaper than the ninja was far superior.Nice video again.❤
I totally agree with that !!!! 💯💯
I have both a ninja and a x1 aswell, I have to say the shimano x1 sees much more use, had carp up to 15lb on it, cast out weights that I definetly shouldnt, even went sea fishing with the thing lol. Shut it in my car door and broke eyes off of it, got it repaired and its still going. I love the accuracy of the x1 and it just feels imense to play anything more than 2lb on. My x1 is absolutely trashed but it gets taken with me every time I fish. The ninja is ok, certainly feels lower quality imo and I find it seems like its much stiffer, definetly suited to fish like 4-8lb id say where x1 is more like 2-4lb. God forbid I ever get anything bigger than 15lb on the x1, im suprised it hasnt snapped on the carp I've caught on it already!
One thing I hate about loads of feeders though is them front reel seats, how they tighten. The korum all rounders have rear real seats like carp rods, much better design. Why does my rod have to be unscrewing when im playing a big fish? Seems stupid to me tbh, but its like that on loads of feeders, and id take a nice action rod over the reel seats any day...
Free spirit multi feeder rods are superb. Like the Shimano you can change the length from either 10-12 or 11-13. I've bought both.
Thanks John ! 🎣🎣
Through action for feeder rods is paramount. I have a 9' and 11' Drennan Carp Feeder Rod. Landed 36lb catfish on the 11'.
Vertex
Guru A Class is my first feeder rod. I have the 10ft Rod which comes with a 1oz and 1.5oz tip. Im a short kid (5'2) and i find the butt is the perfect length for me.
Loving the rod and tips should be easy and cheap to get
I've been very tempted by the Preston Ignition Carp Feeder rods as my korum feeder rods are a bit too long and isn't too costly about £50 might be a purchase into the new year but for £50 that's not a bad investment, tight lines bud
I’m stuck between this and the preston ignition rod myself
You wont be disappointed with the ignition rods guys ...
Paired with inertia reels
Yes I'm a preston tackle tart but they are a fantastic combo
I have 2 daiwa feeder rods. The grinding is noticable on mono, so i fish with 0.20 braid (you can still hear it, but it does not affect retrive).
No it doesn’t effect the retrieve but I don’t think it’s good manufacturing 👌🏻
Hi westy I use a guru n gauge 10 ft paired with guru a class reel well worth the money
I tend to have the rod tip towards (if not just above the water) when playing the fish seems to get them to turn around a lot easier
Definitely, they call it side strain 🎣
Good vid, I have been using the 9ft Guru A class, too soft for the double figure carp in the margins though, I also have an old 12ft Avanti power carp feeder that is able to drag the bigger fish out of the reeds and snags though I doubt you can buy that one these days, keep the vids coming I enjoy them.
I was going to try the A class next. It’s the most recommended, that and the Preston monster carp range
@@WestysAngling It's a great rod, i was on Gwens last week at Hall Lane, i landed carp to 12 pound then I found out there are some huge carp in Gwen's , they bent the tip round to the butt lol then ping snapped twice and third time size 12 hook straightened out , but i did not expect the rod to hold such big carp, I'm told they are running to 25 pound in Gwen's now .
@MickShaw-om8gw I can believe it ! I have had them to 14 🎣
I was in shock when a guy walked from his peg and told me the size of them in gwens , i nocited early evening a couple of guys with just a seat and carp rods turning up more proof that there are some huge lumps in there, back on Bess for me lol.@@WestysAngling
@@WestysAngling Just been my local tackle shop ( Leigh Tackle ) guy who works in there swears by this rod, says he had an 18 pounder on it just last week easy handled it . Guru N-Gauge 10ft Feeder CW 1-50g (GRD008)
westy i have the guru n gauge 12 feet power feeder whit the 2.5 ounce tip,it goes round by a good carp great action you have to try; thanks stevan from holland
Thanks Stevan !! 🎣
Korum Phase 1 10ft Rod & Reel works for me
I use the Daiwa N'zon S 10ft feeder rod with a Daiwa LT 4000c it's perfect for all method feeder work certainly wasn't the cheapest feeder rod out there but it's one of the best from Daiwa. As for availability I'm not so sure as its a couple of years old now, so if it ever broke I'm screwed hahaha
😂😂 it’s brilliant how everyone has their favourites 🎣 thanks for commenting Neil !
Hope your well, try the Monster x carp feeder....wouldn't use anything else, I've got the 10 and 11 ft, great rods!! Almost bend in half.
Great watch again!!
I've got the 10 foot version and wouldn't use anything else!
Preston supera x 10 ft with Preston 520 magnitude can’t beat it 🎣
Hi westy give the middy rods a go as I have the 5gx and find very good but I can highly recommend the arcotech 10/11ft carp feeder very nice action and a little more parabolic in action to the 5g both awsome rods give them a go as very reasonably priced also keep up the good work with the videos fella tight lines
Will do Dave thank you for the recommendation 🎣
@@WestysAngling hi fella can I ask what aqua atom pellets you are using in the vids and what the discount code was thanks
Hi Matt, just wondering how you would compare this rod with the Shimano Areo x1 that you tested a while ago?
Shimano Areo hands down 👍🏻👌🏻
Try the new Nytro range. I bought a 9' Nytro Solus Carp feeder rod, and I'm quite impressed by it.
A few people have recommended the Nytro Range ! I think that’s next on the list 🎣
@@WestysAnglingThe match division of Sonik
I have been using a ninja 10th feeder rod for a year now I do not get the grinding you have been getting I think it could be the line you are using I use the drennen fast sink 8lb line
Westy you know that you can't take off the plastic until you've caught a fish on the rod, as that's bad luck :) :)
😂 maybe that’s where I went wrong that day !
😂😂😂
Hi there,
New sub from Denmark.
Have wanted to take up Method feeder fishing for a long time and you reignited the fire, went out last weekend and caught my first method caught mirror at around 3.5kg using some old groundbait/hempseeds and sweetcorn on a #10.
Have now bought some Sonu pellets and groundbait as the Sensas was just too sticky.
Using large Preston methods in 30 and 45g
Question for you please:
I fish 2 natural lakes and a canal for Carp between 3-20kg, average around 10kg, as well as specimen Tench and Bream.
I have 2 Drennan Specialist twin tip duo 1.5 with a set 3oz and 4oz tips and a set of Shimano 4000 baitrunners.
So far I have fished them through a bite alarm with the 4oz tips, heavy mainline and 10lb flouro rigs.
Would you recommend a lighter tip should I like to fish without an alarm and just tip indication on a rod holder, and if so, which tip size ?
I was thinking to see if I could order a set 1.5 or 2oz tips if it would be recommended to do so.
Thanks for your vids and sharing your trips with os
Hello ! Based on the type and size of fish you are chasing I would stick with your twin tip rods on alarms. Your gear and setup sounds a lot like my specimen fish setup. It seems it’s working for you as well ! Really feeder rods with 1.5/2oz tip would be best for carp of up to 8/9kg max. The fish are bigger your way and you need more substantial tackle than we do 😁
@@WestysAngling That’s fantastic.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience
What did you think of that reel?.. I bought one a couple of years ago and used it once. I found the centre pin bent too much on any fish over 3lb, so much it was impossible to reel in because the weight of the fish put too much strain on the pin. For a Diawa it was very disappointing
I haven’t had that problem ! Perhaps it’s something they have sorted ? I have to admit I do like the reels !
hi i bought the new feeder rod 9ft nytro it cost me £29.99 and to look at it it looks like £100 rod anyway i had just under 18lb carp just for fun i wanted to see if i cud snap it lol but nope so its a rod i use now it passed the test
I hear good things about them !!! 🎣🎣
cheers m8
realy nice good looking gear and cheap you should try the £29.99 rod that i use
I think I will 🎣
Что за фирма катушки?
Hello. Please help me. I bought a rod Daiwa Ninja Feeder 3.60m; 80 gr and with it 3 quivers ( red, green and yellow) but not a single quver has a mark of OZ and what type it is. Thanks in advance.
I have done some digging for you, that model isn’t really on the UK market, however I think the green is the strongest, the lightest tip is the glass tip. I think it’s probably 1oz 1.5oz and 2oz
@@WestysAngling Thank you very much for your prompt replay. I wish all the best to you and your family in the New Year.
My rod broke afther the 2 carp of 5 pound
Nice quality
The plastic cover is still on the cork handle
I watched this video 2 weeks ago behoren baying it
Get the thing returned mate ! That’s bad that !
@@WestysAngling the shop in contact with daiwa
I wait a few days and see
I had to send foto's
Guru a class ar very good rods try it
sorry but do need to ask i watched a few of your vids there good but why do you leave your rods baited in the water film your dad fishing most fisheriwes will ask you to leave if they see it does not matter what reel you use carp will still rip your rod of the rests ,
As I explain in my videos Tom all my reels have bait runners. I just pop them on if I’m filming my Dad. I also have very secure rod rests. I take precautions, hence why I never lose my rods. Fisheries won’t ask me to leave, I have never had any problems with fishery owners. It’s free advertisement for them.
I would like to add that we always have the fishes welfare as our top priority, never is the filming allowed to interfere with this. We fish adjacent pegs so we are never more than a few yards apart. We always remove rods when leaving our peg to go to the loo etc, even when fishing bait runners. If not fishing bait runners we remove rods even when going to the next peg, ie. float fishing etc. I have never known a bait runner fail, more usually user error. Yes we occasionally make mistakes, but we are human, and this is how we learn. We have fish treatments with us always and have removed numerous rigs from fish over the years. Do not forget these videos are edited and don’t always show the full picture.
Another cracker Matt... As you know I'm a Shimano enthuiast, After this video. I must try out the Aero X 10ft feeder. As everyone is recommending them. There are several good quality feeder rods on the market presently. On commercials you probably cant go wring with any of em... Personally, though a little pricier. I still prefer to use my two Shimano 9 - 11ft Multi feeders. The aero X5 and an older Beastmaster CX as when long casting isnt necessary. The 9 foots are much easier to handle fish with... Looking forward to the next video...
Thought the Ninja rods had now been replaced by the N'Zon range. I could be wrong...😄😄
Shimano would be my pick for rods and reels for sure . Quality gear always. My 9ft speedmasters are still unbeaten in my eyes 👌🏻🎣
That type of fishing is so damn boring
