So many people don't understand how amazing this band is. People are so quick to turn their nose up on them. Maybe because of Crash Into Me or Dave's image of something. But how can you deny this incredible musicianship, jamming, songwriting, etc. I'm sure 99.9% of people who claim not to like Dave have never heard them really jam like this. It's powerful and you can't honestly say it isn't. these guys play real music, and they respect music. This jam was sick. Amazing horn solos in the intro. Funky outtro jam. Tim knew to lay back for this one and let the others shine. Dave patiently let the intro grow into an amazing climax. But The horns were so in sync, one would start their solo with the last riff the other played. Killer phrasing. If Miles Davis played that trumpet solo, people would have sh*t their pants. And I've listened to hundreds of hours of miles and love everything he did. But still, if he pulled off that solo people would have said it was one of the best he's played. These guys are good.
I was in my 30's, back in the 90's, when I fell upon DMB. A friend told me to watch and listen to this, he lent me the Central Park concert DVD. I was instantly hooked and have since seen them live a few times. One must see them live to truly appreciate the quality of musicians and timing this band has.
Carters momentum is impeccable. Up and down, soft and steady. His odd time signatures are hands down some of the best in the business. He drives the entire bands pace and speed at all times. That is what drew me to this band many years ago. The whole band is really good but Carter stood out from the beginning.
Buffalo Springfield! DMD! I'm an old man in Colorado. So Great to see DMB in CO! As always, GREAT musicianship. And emotional engagement. [See GREAT musicianship.]
@@jwukulele I think I'd like to see them. I mean I have a jist of how things went down but I've never seen them. I trust that the band did what needed to be done to protect the integrity of the band, but without knowing 💯 what went down its hard not to miss that exquisite sound that only Boyd had. Not defending the man or in any way condoning his actions (just wanted to make that clear). I'm only saying that I miss the sound of him accompanying the rest of these amazing musicians with his instrument.
Everything is always played different every time...Every song. They show how skilled each individual person is and The Dave Matthews Band a great group of musicians who make it look easy. Carter on drums takes this band to another level above most bands to date.
I cannot put into words how much Carter means to me. Dave has the voice of a fricken angel and i have so much admiration towards him, imo he is the best singer in our modern times. Carter has blown my mind constantly. I Cannot explain my gratitude for the Dave Matthews band. Literally changed my life. Stefan is an absolute beast, Rashawn is a freaking beast, and Butch taylor is a genius. Thank you all. you are all phenomenal.! my sincerest gratitude!
Oh my goodness that solo by Buddy was insane when he cranked it up! Then Carter knows the time to get into the style he's playing and Tim and Stefan get going. My god. It's a beautiful thing.
Also, when I was in Jr High and High School, I aspired to be a drummer. I am always overwhelmed by the fantastic Carter Beauford. Have been for 30 years.
I have been to so many shows over almost 30 years. It's not there anymore. An occasional flash, but no... And I'll be loyal enough to go back this summer.
Amazing throwback. Dave digging deep into his roots of the Gorge in 2002. It's an absolutely amazing reinterpretation of their masterpiece of this song
My honest thoughts: I really used to enjoy that Celtic-sounding Boyd improv in this tune when the jam section starts. This jazz piano stuff is alright, but that Celtic violin stuff just had the coolest dark mysterious vibe to it, reminded me of an espionage movie
I love seek up!!! I know Dave doesn't believe in God ,but you can hear God working on Dave and his band every performance!!! I love when Dave speaks of His Mother,he definitely loved his Mama!!!
It is easy to assume that Dave is the least strong musician in the group, and perhaps there is some validity to that, but it's important to keep in mind that he actually writes all of the songs and composes them. He may not be the strongest musician when it comes to technical proficiency on an instrument, but he clearly has a vision in mind when he writes. I am a big fan of his themes and lyrics. Most of his songs deal with the "memento mori" idea, which resonates with me very strongly. I had terrible anxiety and depressive issues in my 20s. Listening to DMB and really getting into the lyrics, and reading writers like Walker Percy, Kierkegaard, and other existentialists helped me embrace the idea that we are all going to die, and ultimately life may not have any meaning, but what we do today matters, even if it is just being moved by a killer jam.
Just awesome. There’s a 20 minute version somewhere I think live trax. Lost all my stuff in Covid company closure. Know where I can find it? Love the intro instrumental and closing instrumental. Like last 10 minutes of Dreaming Tree in Piedmont. Oh man. So cool.

well said! people who think DMB are lame have a very surface-level understanding of their songs.
the world is full of fools. fk them. don't worry about the fools.
The haters piss me off.
Really well said mate
Mic Drop.
I like how Dave is always looking around himself like "holy shit these guys are amazing"
cause the are. All of them- He really appreciates his band
Seriously, Dave literally somehow assembled a "Super Group" right out of the gate.

goddamn that intro was sick. The fist bump at 6:50!
awesome catch!
Finally Seek Up!
Awesome mix too - it’s rare to find a Seek Up mix these days where you can actually hear Dave’s guitar through the entire song
I totally agree! Mix is stellar, and nice to here that riff on the top of it all.
great recording
He writes the songs and the band does the work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOVE THIS BAND!
They all write the songs. Dave writes the lyrics…..
Buffalo Springfield! DMD! I'm an old man in Colorado. So Great to see DMB in CO! As always, GREAT musicianship. And emotional engagement. [See GREAT musicianship.]
Wow- that just happened. All amazing musicians. I love how Dave gives them all their own moment.
I love this song but I miss the violin a lot.
me too........
Me three. Boyd was incredible
Seeing the actual tweets that got Boyd Tinsley fired was something I can’t unsee.

It had to be done for what the band stands for. Integrity
Your music heals. Thanks for that.
I am 70+ and a big fan of this Band.
Cannot wait to see Carter's big smile tomorrow night!
Horn section always on funking point!! LABOR DAVE WEEKEND!!!

Headphones On ! World Out ! ♥️
I wish Buddy would play a bit louder, or they would turn his channel up. His funky little additions to this are perfect. Turn him up!
He's plenty loud, I heard it perfectly.
You can hear him. But for some reason it took 11 minutes for the camera to focus on him 🤷♂️
Nah he was balanced perfectly
I think we all agree that Buddy is amazing
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
This music takes me to another world. Love DMB
This is a song you listen to with a loved person and hold them close and talk about life, love, aspirations...maybe i am drunk :)

And Tim reynolds is an absolute legend. God bless the Dave Matthews Band
Our Mother has behavioral FTD and the disease tried to kill me and my sister. Your music saved us and kept us alive. I love you Leslie . Thank you DMB
I love this song, with the word love really hitting hard.
Best band in the world. It's not even a contest
Beautiful! I am obsessed with this! Can’t stop listening :)
Just Amazing! Favorite song ever!!❤️
Horn jamming was amazing! Dope version 👌👁👌
No one can ever replace LeRoi, but I notice it takes two people to even get close. RIP, LeRoi.
I was just telling my son how amazing he was. This band really misses him.
Lmao. Rashawn was playing with DMB for at least 3 years before Leroi passed…….
God these musicians are truly brilliant. Every performance I listen to for the first time amazes me and sends chills throughout!!
I am OBSESSED with Dave Mathews BAND....
Top three dmb songs for me. This one gets better as it goes on..... Ya know how it is.
Goddamn how much i love this band
sheeeeeesh the horn section in the intro jam of this song are so mesmerizing. the whole band is on point.
Fabulous favorite song by DMB. In concert live it was amazing. Such a band in tune with each other. Could see this band yearly. 🤍
So epic! Drummer is amazing
Oh my goodness that solo by Buddy was insane when he cranked it up! Then Carter knows the time to get into the style he's playing and Tim and Stefan get going. My god. It's a beautiful thing.
3:55 jeffs sax lick is beautiful
Simple, yet satisflying
man, that's one hell of a live experience...
Loved this version. Music therapy ❤
The stellar level of this act is ridiculous. makes it harder to give these dudes the credit they deserve. They just fly so high.
One of my favorite Dave matthews band songs. This is such a great classic! One of my favorite bands of all time as well.
I havent heard a live version of seek up since the 90's and that shit was fricken awesome
Oh this one takes me back.
Φοβερή εκτέλεση απίστευτη μπάντα αντε και live στην Ελλάδα
Also, when I was in Jr High and High School, I aspired to be a drummer. I am always overwhelmed by the fantastic Carter Beauford. Have been for 30 years.
I just want to listen to this song forever.
Thank you Dave Matthews Band, and with Love🙏💫💖
Hee puts so much emotion and fun into his performances. They are so amazing live.

Unique and extreme talented band!!

You know it's good when Dave makes the "what's that smell" face
Beautiful 🙏
Until Rock in Rio. September 2019. Looking forward to see you guys. I'v already bought my tickets. Greetings from Brazil!
My honest thoughts: I really used to enjoy that Celtic-sounding Boyd improv in this tune when the jam section starts. This jazz piano stuff is alright, but that Celtic violin stuff just had the coolest dark mysterious vibe to it, reminded me of an espionage movie
100% agree - this song is nowhere what it used to be.
Still a great song but yeah I agree.
@@dude4173 I wouldn't go that far but it's way more jammy with a violin
all i can say is, they make the best of what’s around❤️🤙🏻

Anyone else fucking love music?
How Stefan calls the intro to wrap with that freaking scale nobody expected...
Perfection.
