Came across your channel from Rah Free. I have a 64 too. I feel you on those spring compressors. It can cause a lot of damage if you don't pay attention and respect the tool. Keep it bro.👍🏾
I definitely prefer the look of the drum brakes and as long as they're adjusted right will stop just as well as disc brakes. The only issue is they start to not work as well once heated up but as long as you're just cruising its not an issue.
If u use impact on spring compressor tool it will chew up tbe threads. I still use it though. And throw the tool away after a couple uses. 15 bucks on ebay
I watched your video and I had the same exact problem this week it was a pain in the ass to get the tool out after you use it I literally had to punch out the pins to hold the hooks together and the the fork got jammed on the control arm
I’m sure you probably already know... but those stock 58 to 64 rear ends don’t have retainer clips inside the pumpkin to help hold the axles in place, only the pressed on bearing does. I learned that after my 63 broke an axle of course...So after I pressed new bearings on I took my axles to a weld shop and had them put a spot weld on the bearings with a tig welder to the axle just to make sure they didn’t pop out and snap an axle....Don’t want that to happen to you and do body damage like me....But I think the axle broke because the bearing was worn and locked up causing the axle to slide out....
KC BILL thanks man. Yeah I’ve known about that. But with a stock set up I think I’ll be ok. No weight from hydraulics over it. No three wheeling. I mean crap they have held in since 64 like that lol.
I bought some after market springs and they made the front end sit higher, so I had the original springs powder coated...sitting nice now...but what I paid to install

But the driver side upper control arm whats the best way to take it out? The steering C. Shaft is in the way. Do i have to remove the gear box so the Steering C. Shaft can move out of the way of the arm to come out. Thanks in advance man

RJ Tickler I run 13x7’s on my 64 with skirts. Stock drum stock rear end. I hear people say that everyday but unless you got juice and 3 wheeling they fit just fine. Even the 14’s fit.
RJ Tickler I’m about 90% sure my skirts are ol school Fenton. And of course my 13’s are China’s and I run classic 155/80’s. Idk hope it works for ya brother

Why what’s wrong with rahfree’s Malibu I love it thought ya did great. I hooked my peepers on it in the Woodward dream Cruise last year.
