It's amazing with this song (and a lot of other songs by atmosphere) that when you actually 'decypher' each line or segment of lyrics they're all related by the same theme.

This is my first time watching this video. I discovered this song back in high school in 2007 or 2008. Ten years later, now its nearly 11 pm here in California on December 18, 2017 and I still don't understand the meaning of the song. Ironically, I'm sipping on some Bourbon whiskey. And Slug references Knob Creek Bourbon in this song hahah "Gonna hobble down the street till I reach Knob Creek."

slug is a lyrical genius...his songs are just up beat poems that follow a beat...we love his music for he tells the truth...theres a bit of slug in all of us which makes all atmosphere fans the biggest fans because we can relate..

i'v been listening to it a bunch, and i finally get it. so never mind!
I think this is still some of atmosphere's best work. nice cartoon too.
Furthermore, I believe music of this quality deserves to be heard on a level that will reflect the genuity and talent put into it. If we were sitting here on a Lady GaGa or Lil' Wayne video, I wouldn't give two shits about who listened to them and their . But these people deserve more respect than that. If you don't understand why you like something, or what it means to you, but rather only listen to it for that head bop, then what respect do you have for music?

a lot of people think Slug is getting too mainstream.
These are the people who limit themselves trying to keep shit "boombap," Slug is progressing as an artist, but staying true to the genre.
Sometimes shit gets popular because its dope as fuck. Atmosphere is the best band ever, so getting at least semi-famous makes sense.

Its interesting when trying to understand this song. Its clear ambiguity, those on the outside who are ugly often are nice on the inside which is why god would love them, but in another perspective those who are good looking on the outside are often ugly on the inside. Though the good looking people, though ugly on the inside, get farther in life merely on looks and smiling so they are favored in life so god loves them, just something to think about.

@dansl70 That's the great part about music, it is interpreted very differently. The point is that you analyze it beyond turning on the radio, beyond surfing a song on youtube, beyond normality. That is what makes you a true listener, instead of just a head bopper. My fundamentals' professor inspired me: "Unless you analyze why you like the music, you're brain is just on autopilot, hearing the song, but never dissecting it."
