Pretty sure Wendy's sole purpose is to be the weakest link in the super unit that is the armor trio's triangle attack for the people who are insane enough to play that way... and I kind of love her for it. It's a very niche role that noone else in the series really has.
Base Wendy still enables Barth to free-crit enemies. I think that's more interesting than anything Sophia can provide, as ensuring that hammers and halberds connect and also crit in this game that has insane throne avoid can really pay off. Having a plan to blast Monke and Gel off their chairs can be pretty cathartic.
@@Kryptnytoh I’m absolutely in agreement with you there. However in FE6 I’ll usually go Ilia because Sacae is an absolutely brutal set of maps that does not care about your feelings AND can be a bit luck dependent.
I have no idea how Sophia can be remotely better than Wendy without save states. Knight crests may be rare, but Guiding Rings are even more rare with Warp staff users desiring the extra magic. One combat paladin grown from the cavs and Zealot/Marcus for Rescue drops is enough for me, so if I'm playing too much like an elitist I might pick up using Wendy to off set myself a little for fun
@@shytendeakatamanoir9740 Yes, and to escort her across is literally the challenge. She's literally a side objective more so than a character. At least Wendy can be ignored or used if you want, but Sophia is a hard objective to ignore when up to that point you only have 1 guiding ring, unless all you want is a single warp user which is somewhat fine when you have a bard before then. You can still warp skip by sending one boss killer and Roy. Just unlikely for that warp user to contribute combat on non warp skip chapters because realistically it's either Saul, Helen, or Clarine because grinding staff rank in FE6 is slow. Saul can get hit with a low crit chance, Clarine has very low magic and Helen has around the same speed as Lot, which is not armor knight bad, but still lackluster. I kinda meandered away from Sophia for a bit there, but when her biggest contribution is being a somewhat difficult side objective in the form of an escort with a guiding ring for a reward best suited elsewhere, it kinda becomes a discussion about warp. To make my thoughts simple, I do think Sophia contributes with a guiding ring in the same sense that she contributes to my headache towards the desert chapter of FE6, so I find that it is only a small contribution just like how Wendy has a small contribution towards a triangle attack that can annihilate something so slow that armor knights can surround it or as a portable wall due to her low constitution when raised and promoted which is a unique niche. I still see them tied except for Wendy has availability, so Wendy wins in my opinion.
@@pksprite6401 can she collect guiding ring while asleep by dropping her onto the tile? @@OrlandoAguirre222 you’re gonna be shocked when you find out that units can, get this, WAKE UP from the sleep staff. Sophia gets targeted by a sleep staff, meaning only 2 of your actual units have to deal with the sleep staff, and then she can wake up to get the Guiding Ring. That’s a better resume that Gwendolyn has on her joining map, and since neither of them should ever be deployed after their joining map in an optimal setting, I’d say that’s more than enough to give Sophia the edge. Pretty good argument if I do say so myself.
hi im a certified binding blade wendy enjoyer lets talk about some stuff first off one big claim; wendy is not worse than sophia in like any universe. "she can do ranged chip safely" you mean she can miss enemies safely. her hitrates are coinflips on a good day. is she a worse target for the knight's crest than everyone else? yeah, but like i've chosen to run the shitter why do i suddenly care what is optimal she is less squishy than you seem to think; it is true that she gets onerounded at base (by steel weapon enemies, iron weapon enemies and enemy armours dont orko her), but her 8 base def is quite solid for a lvl 1 unit and with experience she'll be hitting hp levels, on top of fishing for extra def and speed levels for better performance. her promotion is quite good as well. longterm she's really not bad once invested and can do work as a sponge with some support partners of course it is of note that wendy is quite bad. i do consider her amongst the worst of gba, but like that's the appeal? this is a really bad unit that i get to make work and thats cool
I used Wendy my first time through Binding Blade. But that's mainly because I find it endlessly amusing for the armored behemoth that is the general class to contain a little girl. Same reason I went through the knight track with Amelia my first time through Sacred Stones.
wendy in fe6 and wendy in project ember are like polar opposites. in fe6 there's no reason you'd ever want to use her because she fails at doing anything useful, even the thing that armor knights are good at (aka chokepoint gaming), but in project ember her growths are insane, she can use bows, and considering that enemies have a ton of silver/brave weapons and 20+ strength, the only units that can survive more than 2 rounds of combat in one turn are the ones with very high defenses (or raigh with nosferatu). Speed cap is low at 22 but easily reachable, and what are the fast enemies like nomad troopers or swordmasters gonna do, crit her for 3 damage? But to be fair, project ember, while it is in essence an fe6 romhack, plays quite differently so yeah. Just a thought about wendy i had after finishing project ember some days ago.

She can actually use the Arena later on. She's better at it than most Armor Knight due to her higher Speed. Her main issue is that you need to use Barth (and Bors, but Bors is amazing do you'll use him anyway), because she has bo real use outside of Triangle Attack
