Rikki Chadwick, Emma Gilbert, and Cleo Sertori are three teenage Australian girls who find themselves stranded on the mysterious Mako Island, where they end up in a pool under a dormant volcano just as a full moon passes above them, bathing the pool in light. The girls are rescued and brought back to shore, where they return to their normal lives, until discovering their lives have become anything but normal. The girls find out that ten seconds after coming into contact with water they transform into mermaids. After further experimentation, the girls also discover they have supernatural powers over water.

I really love rewatching this show, and realising how perfectly their personalities work with each other, even though you’d think that they wouldn’t.
Basically Sharkboy and Lavagirl but a witch/romance
As a guy, I was wanting to be have been Angus/Lewis because he got to be with the three of them.
Cleo: got her powers when she wanted to control Zane (hence controling water)
Emma: got her powers when she was scared of being hit by the water (frozen in fear)
Rikki: Gets her powers when she is mad (fiery mad like heating the water)

I'm in my early 20s and sometimes re-watch this series because it really reminded me of how I used to be more adventurous and sociable as teen. God, I was obsessed with mermaids and marine aesthetics. Also, the idea of being stranded on an island with my best friends and trying to find our way back to the mainland using survivalist and supernatural means was a big brain thing I had thanks to this show and Cast Away.
Im going to 30 and still feel at 18, and never get bored whatching over and over and over and over, have the same pleasure any times that i see, this serie will never get old in my heart🥺❤👑

ARE HERE ANY GUYS FROM PAST IN 2023? THIS SHOW IS AMAZING AND WILL LIVE FOREVER! I remember this sweet time in my childhood after school when I used to watch this! Now I'm doing it again, and still see how enchanting every episode is. Ideas and motifs of series from the past are very to my liking.
I love how Emma is the first person to exit the moon pool foreshadowing the fact that she is the first person to exit the series unlike Cleo and Rikki who leave together.

After all the years of me watching this show I'm only realizing now that Zane is one of the reasons they turned into mermaids because he lured Cleo in and Rikkk jumped into the boat to save her, ran into Emma while riding the boat, went to Mako Island, went into the moon pool, moon magic and then they became mermaids
Then it all happened because of Rikki cause she took the spark plug
This show was my entire childhood!!! As soon as I heard the dang theme song I instantly remembered every single word and got up and danced around in front of my mom :’) Goodness they made me want to be a mermaid so freaking bad when I was younger (and still today as a 21 year old i’ll be honest loll) but this show was my everything. I even taught myself how to swim like a mermaid just like them, but now it’s literally the only way I know how to swim so I dunno if that’s good or not but oh well sksks. But my goodness I missed this show! I started rewatching again and the instant happiness and comfort I got was just too good :’) This show will ALWAYS have a special place in my heart💕🧜🏼♀️🌊🐚

After this series I started to dream to move to Australia (from Russia), this show was really popular in my country and it completes my childhood... So much nostalgia. Still dreaming about move there, an amazing country 😍
I watched this my freshman year of college and I've never forgotten how much I really liked this series, even as a young adult.
Now, I'm letting my 6 year old watch it with me! Rikki is still my favorite character, glad to know I haven't changed too much!
Not to point out the obvious but Ricky is heat and is wearing red, Emma is ice and has on blue, and Cleo is a luke bender like a balance and she’s wearing purple and purple is a combination of red and blue. The symbolism was there from this early on.
