People watching this don't realise just how much danger you were in while filming this. Unless you have been bitten by a Bull ant you don't appreciate just how painful it is. Another thing most people are not aware of is that their poison causes anaphylaxis for actually a significant number of people. People who have been stung before without serious consequences are at more risk of having a serious reaction with consequent stings. So it is a good idea to avoid these guys. By the way, the footage is fantastic 👍

We have quite a few nests around our place and I've been stung a few times by these ants so I should be a bit more careful now.

All the crickets are noisy but in the background you can just hear a Boobook Owl calling.

Wow. Fantastic close capture of the ants and prey at night. Just read the comment below - please stay safe from the ants! So small and so dangerous - insects are fascinating... Best regards, Cathy

It's amazing that these ants use their excellent vision of fixed landmarks to navigate in their territory. Most other ants find their way about with pheromones. When they see an intruder near their nest they run at the intruder and attack. I wear strong boots and tuck my trousers into my socks so they don't run up inside my trousers when I am filming them close up.

I heard that they grow them big in Australia! This thing looks like it could put a real hurting on someone. Nice capture!

I partially watched twice this video because it is super interesting! I also read the comment You pinned so I got an idea of what they can do to people too. Anyway, they are somehow so scary and ferocious to be even absolutely fascinating! Poor Moths!!! Thank You for sharing these scenes and... be careful!!!!!

It is incredible how these ants will attack you if you go near their nest.

What incredible shots! I didn't know that this red ant had such long pincers! Poor moth, it almost managed to escape, but this time, instead of burning its wings, it gave them away to eat. Have a nice day Morelia

I love this footage, the ants are amazing. Well done. For filming pygmy sundews between Perth and Albany it was necessary for me to lay down on the soil for macro-shots with a film camera. That needs time. It wasn't even rare to see large bulldog ants patrolling around there. I knew they could sting, was careful and luckily wasn't attacked. It took really good nerves to keep the camera steady when such a large ant walked past very close.

You were very keen and also brave. If you did get stung your valuable old footage would have been obtained at extra great cost to you.

Thank you very much for sharing these impressive images of the bull ant. In Australia there are many dangerous things that we Europeans are unaware of. Congratulations for this video. Greetings, Manu

We have had lots of rain where I live and I think we will have a good season for mushrooms and fungi.

Yes, they are scary. I have to keep checking my boots to see if they are climbing up my legs. They are better on the outside of my trousers than the inside.
