Makes me want to have more projects that are animated by japanese anime studios but written and scripted by english writers. The beautiful and stylish looks of anime merged with witty banter of english language would be a god send
To be fair, the entire series is just a love letter to both western and Hong Kong action movies. The cast is largely American, Russia, or countries with a direct association between the two. Rock being largely the only Japanese guy in the whole series (outside of their trip back to Japan). The dub is unique like Cowboy Bebop’s as it elevates the characters and fits them perfectly.
Iirc the VA for Shenua said she won't do the role again if there ever was a new season of Black Lagoon because its too offensive in todays culture (or something along those lines)

Plus one of them is using a stereotypical Chinese accent. That's why the DEI people would hate it, due to how puritanical and dense they can be.
