1:58 I'm SO glad you mentioned the Donald Duck story. Even as a little kid, I thought, 'why is everyone bothering him? He just wants some hot chocolate.' I just wanted him to get his hot chocolate SO bad. He even tried to get some in the store, and Huey, Dewey, Louie, and Daisy STILL made him feel bad for leaving for a SECOND! When he finally breaks, as Donald Duck does, they all turn on him, and pretend to not know him. Then, Donald gets THROWN out of the store, and feels terrible the whole way on his way home. That scene is really hard to watch. In the end, when Donald redeems himself, by giving in to Christmas, they all love him again, like he made up for some great injustice. They don't even apologize, for abandoning him. Did Donald go a little too far when he broke? Yes, but his family still shouldn't have abandoned him. I didn't realize how mad this story made me, until I saw this review.
Same thing with the Mickey Mouse one all Pluto wanted to do was help and yes he made a mess but he's a dog I mean I would have been upset too but I would at least clean it up with him not Lash out disown him like Mickey did, to me that felt really out of character for him. No wonder Pluto ran away, in my opinion this whole movie is just mean.
I'm very shocked that Doug didn't mentioned that Roxanne is NOT Max's girlfriend in this movie despite him liking the character so much when mentioning A Goofy Movie. Speaking of Max how come he's grown up in the sequel and yet Huey Dewy and Louie are still the same age? Then again after seeing Quack Pack it's for the best they didn't aged.
Its not that shocking, Doug never seemed like a huge fan of the Goofy movies. Oh and two of the bg girls in Extremely Goofy movie looks suspiciously like older versions of Roxanne and Stacy.
Yeah! I sympathize with Donald as well. I wanted him to have his break. I mean there's a huge different between lacking the Christmas Spirit and having too much commercialism shoved in your face. Personally I found this sequel to be okay for what it is. But the first one is superior in so many ways.
Christmas wasn't being shoved in Donald's face. They just kept playing and singing the exact same song all day, no other song, that is a good reason to drive someone crazy
And NOTHING else was going on in those moments? 😂 Although, yeah, they could've had a variety of songs, and that's coming from someone who loves the song.
Jonah Ronberg Because not only are the comics well written and fun to read. Many of them also have good stories. There is nothing wrong with me, a nineteen-year-old reading a Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck comic. Heck, my dad occasionally picks one up and reads it, and he's in his late fifties. Just because I passed the age of eighteen, it doesn't mean I *have* to reject everything good in my life and let myself sink into a depressing, dark hole without joy, just because the things I enjoy are labeled as "kids stuff". But in the end, why the hell do you care? We don't know each other personally, we've never met. In fact, there's a pretty good chance we live in completely different countries. So we'll most likely never meet, and my hobbies won't *ever* have an effect on your life, just as your hobbies won't have an effect on mine. I don't see any reason why *you* should care about what *I* do with *my* free time. So by all means, enlighten me: Why do you care?
I think it was mentioned once that their parents are actually dead(and apparently Donalds brother was a mild tempered person, even a real gentleman, I guess Donald inherited all of Hortense`s anger issues who is their mother for those that do not know)
Actually, it was Mickey’s Philharmagic that was the first time Mickey and Donald were in CGI. But I get that MTUAC was the first Film that features all of the gang in CGI.
I remember when people consider Chicken Little as one of Walt Disney Pictures's first CG film they create and I thought myself "But, Mickey's Twice Upon A Christmas came before that last film they talk about as their first CG beginning"
have they ever aged Huey, Dewie, and Louie? Just at least one? Well I think it is better that way. Max is suppose to represent a growing teenager dealing with a father who will not grow up. like almost all teenagers, many could relate. that is a main reason why.
Well, they did age in that one Disney show that people don't like, but still it's quite interesting to see that they only aged there. I never really thought of that for some reason.
I feel really bad for donald in this one, especially with that theory that donalds freakouts are from PTSD. (remember, donald is a sailor in the early cartoons. he served in the navy!)
@Kropka308 There's really no set answer here but it's more than likely because of what their characters represent. Huey, Dewey, and Louie have always been bratty nephews who bother their Uncle Donald and Uncle Scrooge but ultimately learn a valuable lesson in the end. In any given story, this is who they are. This is because they represent the children the movies themselves are geared towards. The nephews are the eternal target audience of Disney is trying to affect. That audience grows up but the target at which Disney tries to affect remains the same. So, little kids are always met with 3 little ducklings. Both needing to learn base-level lessons. Max, on the other hand, represent growing up with Disney. We saw him as a small child long ago (as Goofy Jr., back then), then as a pre-teen in "Goof Troop," then a teen in "A Goofy Movie," then an emerging adult in "An Extremely Goofy Movie" and "Disney's House of Mouse" and now as a young adult in this film. And in each carnation, Max changes. But, not into a another character, but a more mature Max. Because, Max IS us. While the nephews are the target audience who never changes, Max is the audience who has to grow up but still sticks with Disney. But, now that growing audience (like Max) sees things in a different light as time goes on. What Lion King meant to you as a child means so much more as a 20something. As child, Ariel was in the right for wanting to go to the surface but as an adult, Ariel was a selfish girl who sold her soul and simply lucked out in the end. So, Huey, Dewey, and Louie are how you enter Disney. Max is how you constantly think you're leaving it behind but it's always with you. The nephews never grow but Max is ever changing. ......gonna get weird when Max is in his 30s paying a mortgage but the boys are still questioning if Santa is real....
Yes. Like I said, at this point, the two are still together. We can assume they were still together in college but not after as Mona is the new girl. Based on "An Extremely Goofy Movie," the two were not too close.
That's nothing. Remember the goth chick in the sequel to "A Goofy Movie"? The one that PJ falls in love with and gets together with in the end? That was Mona, Max's girlfriend in THIS movie. What the hell happened? Did she decide to leave him and go out with Max instead? Did Max decide she was hot and just stole his lifelong best friend's girlfriend? PJ only barely started getting some confidence and self-esteem when he started college and got away from his dad, what the hell do you think happened to him once Max and Mona got together? There's a pretty big story that Disney isn't wanting to tell that obviously happened off camera. I'd love to know what it is.
I'll always favor 2D animation over CGI animation. CGI can become dated-looking as a product of its age and rarely can stand the test of time, but so much 2D animation can stand the test of time and still remain so charming. Take for example so many of the early Disney works like Snow White, Pinocchio, Bambi, and even The Jungle Book in the 2D department. Hell, even 22 years later The Lion King looks as phenomenal today as it did back in the 90s
I actually like the animation of some of the characters, particularly Donald and Mickey because they look like they do in Philharmagic and that show/attraction at the Disney parks has a special place in my heart
I agree with the one about Donald. All Donald wanted was to relax with hot chocolate, but everyone treats him like that's a selfish thing to want. And I'm like "Why does he HAVE TO go with you? Just leave him alone."
I agree. As much as Christmas is my favorite time of the year it can be a little too much for people. Also I feel like the meaning behind Christmas gets lost nowadays because of the commercialism and horror films related to Christmas.
I want to bring up that Donald segment, an episode of Thomas the Tank Engine did this kind of story right in Duncan the Humbug. In the episode both sides have equally valid points in their views on the holiday and both sides have equally unreasonable means of expressing it, with both sides coming to the conclusion that it's OK to have differing opinions as you aren't a jerk about intentionally forcing a side to be the same. It acknowledges that both sides are right and wrong at the same time and tries to find peace.
The sad thing is that when I was at Disneyworld for the holidays, I saw this film being played several times and found the DVD copy, but I never once saw any glimpse of the first movie anywhere in stores or on TV. That's a big fat rotten shame since the first film felt very heartwarming and pleasing for families to watch while this movie feels lifeless and bitter.
"Is that in Daisy's character??" ..... dude, this Daisy has been established ever since Tress MacNeille gave her an edge in House of Mouse, and she's been used like this since, right up to this year's "Duck The Halls"! (Doug should watch the recent Mickey Mouse shorts, btw) I wonder if he's ever watched a ton of recent Mickey And Friends stuff before....
I'm surprised he didn't mention that the girlfriend he brings isn't Roxanne. It's some new girl named Mona. Especially since despite her name change she is exactly Roxanne. She looks like her, sounds like her, acts like her, it's freaking Roxanne. And going even further down the rabbit hole there was a TV series called House of Mouse that had Max as a regular character. This is apparently in continuity with the Goofy Troop and 2 Goofy Movies. And in it, he is,still dating Roxanne while going to College like in an Extreme Goofy Movie. So what happened? He is apparently still going to College in Twice upon a Christmas so not that much time could have passed. And to top it off, this is his last appearance. This is the last time we see Max. He just kind of disappeared after words. So this is the end of his story.
Kansas Tagai I found it weird that they didn't have Roxanne as his girlfriend, yet they got the same voice actress to play Mona. Why not just give us Roxanne instead?
Honestly after watching the Ducktales reboot, I consider Huey, Dewey and Louie Donald’s own kids. He was more of a parent when Della decided to take a rocket ship into space before her sons were born
Doug, I totally agree with you on this. It's like they really took every Christmas or holiday movie cliche and piled it into one movie. Edit: Doug, you also forgot to mention the disgusting unnecessary abuse Mickey gives Pluto in his story.
Actually that's a myth. Both cost the same because the pre-production doesn't change with either. 3D is just a trend and big CEOs try to justify shoving in our face by useing "it's cheaper" crap.
I want to mention two things: 1. Max's "girlfriend" is just a person with a dog nose! 2. The song "Share This Day" gives me a lot of nostalgia, and I've never seen this movie very often.
I liked both Once upon a time and Twice upon a time I watched them every time I get a chance it's get me in the holiday spirit even at 19 yrs old I still will watch these
You say the Santa in this special is generic, but look at it this way. This Santa is the only human in the special. Possible in the entire Disney universe. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think there has ever been a human being shown in the world where Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Daisy, and Minnie live.
Plus, that leaves a lot of unanswered questions. Like, where are all the other humans? Are humans extinct and are Santa and Mrs. Clause the only humans left? Do they have some sort of Disney magic that keeps them alive forever? Is this like an alternate universe? Well, clearly not because it's not a sci-fi movie, so it's obviously based on Earth. So it this like a different timeline where humans no longer exist? Well, ok. Is this like the Disney version of the Pixar theory. Is this like Space Jam where the Earth's core is a magical world of cartoons? SOMEBODY, PLEASE! GIVE ME SOME ANSWERS!!!
In-Story Answer: They broke up. Going to separate colleges will do that. Plus, how many people end up with their high school sweet-hearts? Real-Answer: The voice actors are the same for both Mona and Roxanne. But, the animator had already done the entire story so there was no time to turn back and change her complexion, hair, eye-color, ect. PLUS, the story was geared towards Max not wanting his dad to scare off the girlfriend but, as we already saw, Roxanne LIKES Goofy. Thus, it was decided Roxanne would just become Mona and it would be played off as if Max had moved on. Not sure Mona is meant to be "end game" but, as of now, it seems so. Ma DID mention still dating Roxanne in "Disney's House of Mouse" but it's believed he was still IN college so they likely broke up just before or shortly after graduation.
Well, chronologically, it's what we must assume for the story/timeline to make sense. Max is bringing in this totally new girlfriend in his young adult years. Thus, we have to assume he's no longer seeing the old girlfriend from his teen years. We can come to this conclusion for two reasons: 1.) Would Disney let a character like Max cheat? and 2.) IF #1 is possible, would Disney let a character like Goofy be okay with this? With #1 and #2 being HIGHLY unlikely, we assume the two are no longer seeing one another, allowing Max to move on with no conflict. We can go a step further and assume Max and Roxanne were still together DURING their college years as House of Mouse had an episode where Max is trying to establish a date with Roxanne at the lounge. But, Max is working as a valet DURING college. So, the two didn't officially break up until sometime before graduation. Further, we can surmise Max and Roxanne had a long-distance relationship at this point as Roxanne was not featured in "An Extremely Goofy Movie." Not even during Max's X-Games Tourney, which I'd imagine a committed girlfriend to at least try to attend. The only scenario where we could possibly see Max and Roxanne still being together while ALSO having Max date Mona is if Max and Roxanne are in an open relationship. But, once again, this is Disney. They're not THAT accepting of alternative lifestyles. I'm not saying this is impossible but HIGHLY improbable for both Goofy's general morals and characterization (I'd expect Pete to be more okay with this) AND what Disney allows in their properties. Also, with relation the Real-Answer, Mona IS suppose to Roxanne. But, the animators messed up. Roxanne didn't "vanish" but she was changed into an entirely different character. But, Roxanne is still a canonical character. Thus, we must assume Max and Roxanne called it quits for literal New Roxanne to exist.
I loved this movie as a kid. I sort of put my nostalgia goggles on for this one. I haven't seen it in a long time but probably it doesn't hold up. It made me really happy as a kid, for some reason, so it holds a nice value.
I rewatched it recently and loved it ten times more than the first one, which I also watched. I thought the stories, humor and music were all better and more memorable.
Yeah at least this movie had some effort, whereas "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" is literally everything wrong with Disney Channel. Taking beloved material and turning it into an educational pre-school/high school dumpster fire.
I remember owning this and putting it on a couple of times, but for some reason the only one of these bits I even vaguely remember is the Minnie/Daisy ice skating scene.
I have a soft spot for Twice upon a Christmas. I was like 5 or 6 when I started watching it. So I could never really see its flaws as well as I do now. But I still enjoy it cause it brings me back to simpler times.

Now, aside all that (just to make you laugh): *Italy* always changes the names for no reason (Mickey is Topolino, Donald is Paperino, Goofy is Pippo and the list goes on... again, for no reason!), but they chose to keep *Mona*... I guess because they were too lazy to change her shiny name on the roof. What's so weird about it? 'Mona', in a mostly used dialect, means 'vagina' (and of course it *can't* be a name, here). But they thought it was ok to keep THAT name.
There was a House of Mouse episode where Max and Roxanne are dating in the House of Mouse. It seems that they are either still together and Mona was a continuity mistake, or they try to get back together.
***** I stand by my previous assertion. You're an idiot. Both The Return of Jafar and Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas came out on VHS, not DVD. That's why I reserve the right to call you an idiot... Because you are one. Done and done. :I
***** Inspector Gadget 2 came out in 2003. Return of Jafar came out in 1994. Guess when the Brave Little Toaster sequels came out? ... 1997 and 1998. Again. You're an idiot. Keep getting riled up by my responses... It amuses me so much. c:
And this is why I prefer the hand drawn animations compared to this lazy computer animated shit. I didn't mind when Pixar and Dreamworks use it because that was their shtick. But now, every fucking movie company is using it because it's easier and cheaper to produce. All it shows is how fucking lazy movie makers have become these days.
Mark Haynes agreed. I'm not saying computer animation is bad, but it's overused. And now I'm just waiting for a 2d handrawn movie to come out in theaters. Too me, computer animation is just really lazy unless your Disney, Pixar, Dreamworks, etc.
I think the reason why 2D animation is dead, is because society shunned it because its apparently dated. Basically unless your CGI or made in the US, your gonna bomb badly.
Fire Dust, kind of. 2D animation is seen as more for kids, so it just died out with time. It's still being used for straight-to-home movies (like DC animated movies) or certain scenes in other films. 3D animation is seen as something for kids AND adults. I miss 2D a lot. 3D has aged phenomenally in the almost 30 years it's been around and made some of the best films in cinema history, but 2D films have too. Hell, some of them still hold up. I want 2D to make a comeback.
Cousin Dickhead You know what I have to say to that? Its a videogame, but its still the same concept: Cuphead. Almost all of its graphics are hand-drawn animations that sold more than 1 million copies. If thats not popular, i dont know what is, so I think a hand drawn movie in today’s age would sell quite well.
Mayor Milford Meanswell I wasn't trying to get likes you dick, I had just heard the news and so I commented on it, not for the likes, but to show how much Carrie Fisher meant to me and to all of us.
Timestamp 2:37 "But first of all, they're his nephews, not his kids; I still don't know where their damn parents are.." Critic. This line was the funniest thing you said this entire month of reviews. Unexpectedly hilarious.
donald sitting on the chair with that cup looking right and obviously has the face of 'i hate you rightnow'. i need that as a picture and gif. it's a perfect meme
I watched this one a lot as a kid, definitely more than the first one, but yeah, if I saw it now, I probably wouldn't like it nearly as much. I guess I liked it more because in the first one I only liked 2 of the 3 stories, but with this one I sorta didn't like the one with Santa and that's it? I still enjoyed the other, like, 5 stories. But again, it's been a good few years since I watched it. I actually think my favorite was the Minnie & Daisy one, I liked how they kept doing more and more dangerous stunts trying to outdo each other. At least after Minnie hurt herself, they realized how petty they were being and make up and skate together like friends again. I think it was the simplest, so that's why it's so memorable to me
max's story is good to me mostly due to the fact it kinda touchs on max's assholish persona towards his dad. He's always expecting him to screw up before he even opens his mouth
@@hunterolaughlin I would love it because I am so tired of seeing Critic get so soft on shitty films these days. I understand it’s nice to review a positive film every once in a while, but he’s been doing “positive” reviews too many times to the point where I’m not watching the NC, I’m just watching Doug Walker wearing the Critic’s hat and tie.
@@supermariofan03 I know how you feel. I do miss Doug reviewing bad films. That’s where he was always at his hilarious and why there is so much rewatchability with them and where his true Nostalgia Critic personality comes out.
Well according to Don Rosa's stories (Which can all be considered cannon within the disney universe) Huey, Duey and Louie put a homemade peice of firework under their father's chair and if shocked him so much he ended up in the looney bin, their mother then decided, "I can't take these brats" and dumped them, after which they ended up with Donald to make his life a living hell...this is real
The mickey and Pluto story could send off the wrong message which is "you're wrong to tell someone to be patient and you should let them do that thing right now and if something is destroyed, that's your faught for going over the top with things." It doesn't help that the ending never states Pluto learned to be patient.
I always assumed Huey, Dewey, and Louie's parents were deceased. Other members of the family took them in and trade off for holidays, Summers, school years, ect. They mostly go between their Uncle Donald and Great Uncle Scrooge McDuck because they're the closest to them. But, when we see the boys with neither, they're with an aunt, uncle, cousin, friend's family, ect.
I think they put most of their effort into the ice skating short. Which, back when they advertised this on Disney Channel, was the most prominent part of the commercials. I remember this looking a lot better as a kid though. Although the ice skating one doesn't look too bad.
This was the first time Mickey and the gang were in CG animation in a film production, they weren't going to get it perfectly first time around. Blur Animation ( Yes that Blur Studio that works on video games and the Deadpool movie) handled the animation for this since both studios who worked on Once Upon A Christmas were closed when Twice came into production.
SecretAgentYaya it was, but I always liked hiw Max seems to slowly age almost with the audience he was intended for. not cosmologically always, but still.
I do have to say that Daisy can be egotistic and selfish sometimes, even to the point that Donald suffers because of it, but I don't think that she would ever sabotage someone so that she would win.

You know, with a lot of these sequels you can sometimes tell whether or not they actually care, just by a joke. For example, in 101 Dalmatians II, there's a scene where all the dogs bark to communicate. There was a scene like that in the original and the animators snuck in dogs from Lady & the Tramp. Now in the sequel they paid homage to that joke by having dogs from The Aristocats, The Little Mermaid, and Oliver and Company. Since they took the effort to remember that, you can tell they care. Now in Cinderella II, there's a scene where Jaq as a human starts speaking his gibberish mouse language, and they make a joke that he's French. Well here's the thing fellas the story is set in France they're all French, they original movie says she grew up in a château. In this movie there's a scene where Louie is hiding next to the fire in Santa's office, and Santa makes a joke saying it smells like roast duck in the kitchen despite the fact that like 40% of this world's population are Duck. Also Santa's and the elves are all human in a world where they're all animals.
The thing that always fascinated me about Goofy and Max is that if you take the TVshow, two movies and two mini movies and tie them together, it more or less tells a complete life story for Max. Mickey's Twice upon a Christmas has a story about Goofy and Max when he's a preschooler. Then you have Goof Troop which takes place with Max in elementary school. A Goofy Movie shows Max in High School, An Extremely Goofy Movie shows Max in College, and finally Mickey's Once upon a Christmas shows Max after he graduates from College. I don't know if it was intentional or not but I always found it interesting that you could literally see Max grow up and see how Goofy and Max's relationship develops throughout the years!
Then again, Once Upon a Christmas is inconsistent with the Goof Troop series as Max and Goofy live in a different house which reappears in Twice Upon a Christmas suggesting Goofy still lives there and Pete’s wife and kids being absent. And Max is Elementary School age in the Goofy segment of Once Upon a Christmas, albeit with a different design than the one from Goof Troop. The only thing connecting Once with Goof Troop is Pete being the Goof’s neighbor.
Each time I see the Goofy/Max segment in this movie, I wonder what the hell happened to Roxanne! Did she just puff into thin air? 8C Also, I love how at the end of this movie, they play the EXACT same song they played at the end of the first one. And by exact, I mean it's the same recording! That alone should tell you this was definitely a last minute sequel.
Daisy Duck has always had a bit more of a sassy edge to her than Minnie did. She's usually very nice but a lot of Disney shorts they've put out (particularly the ones in the 90s onward) have had Daisy be kind of posh and a little vain. I like Daisy a lot and think that it's fun that they gave her a little bit of sass, it makes her and Donald seem compatible that they have that in common.

No wonder Pluto ran away, in my opinion this whole movie is just mean.
To make things even worse, after Daisy and the nephews abandon Donald, they go to a restaurant AND ORDER SOME HOT CHOCOLATE FOR THEMSELVES.
Same!
ToucanLDM The crew for The Extremely Goofy actually forgot about Roxanne. So leaving her out wasn't intentional. Still sucks though :/
Roxanne appears in House of Mouse
Hey ToucanLDM!!! I love your videos! :D
Its not that shocking, Doug never seemed like a huge fan of the Goofy movies.
Oh and two of the bg girls in Extremely Goofy movie looks suspiciously like older versions of Roxanne and Stacy.
He is reviewing what's in the movie, not what isn't in it.
Animation is still better than foodfight
No shit.
Difference is this is Disney so meh.
Drak74 but is that really all that you expect from Disney? A movie marginally better than aN animated Charlie Sheen movie?
Kaitlynn Rose no, I was just pointing out that Disney at its worst is still better than Charlie Sheen trying to do something at his best.

Christmas wasn't being shoved in Donald's face. They just kept playing and singing the exact same song all day, no other song, that is a good reason to drive someone crazy
Adrian NG Studios He also wasn't enjoying the materialism and how he couldn't do what would give HIM a merry Christmas.
This is literally me with Bohemian Rhapsody, and Let it Go being overplayed. Same with The Big Bang Theory.
Me with "All I Want for Christmas is You." It's a good song, but it's so overplayed, it drives me insane.
@@KittyOfChess I am now feeling that this year
And NOTHING else was going on in those moments? 😂 Although, yeah, they could've had a variety of songs, and that's coming from someone who loves the song.
NC: "Daisy has never been established as this egotistical, jealous character."
Me: *Looks at the comics*
Me: ...
Me: "Sure, whatever you say."
Why not?
First: How do you know my age?
Second: So what?
Not everyone reads the comics
+Jonah Ronberg Mickey Mouse is a pretty popular icon. That's like saying adult gamers can't enjoy Super Mario.
Jonah Ronberg
Because not only are the comics well written and fun to read.
About Huey Dewey and Louie… their parents are *gone*. Either lost somewhere, or dead. At any rate, Donald is their legal guardian.
I would love for the DuckTales reboot to touch on that, like Hey Arnold: The Jungle Movie in some way
***** That's pretty sad then
cute little kitten I'm not sure if I'd put much stock in the comic strip being canon, but that sounds interesting
I think it was mentioned once that their parents are actually dead(and apparently Donalds brother was a mild tempered person, even a real gentleman, I guess Donald inherited all of Hortense`s anger issues who is their mother for those that do not know)
Sometimes Scrooge is their guardian, like in DuckTales.
Fun Fact: This was actually the first time Mickey and Friends characters appeared in 3d animation, AND IT SHOWS.
Its not bad
@@luissanchezproductions9066 yeah it’s aged poorly. Not a misstep just a new idea with a lack of budget for proper execution
@@jerryseinfeld9815 that might be true but hey it could've been worse
U can tell with the human characters, I do think they did an alright job of Huey, Duey and Louie
Actually, it was Mickey’s Philharmagic that was the first time Mickey and Donald were in CGI. But I get that MTUAC was the first Film that features all of the gang in CGI.
Still looks better than Foodfight.
Even better than Mickey Mouse Clubhouse
Michael French are you from hell or something?
"This broken bar of chocolate looks better thant that dog poop i saw this morning"
I remember when people consider Chicken Little as one of Walt Disney Pictures's first CG film they create and I thought myself "But, Mickey's Twice Upon A Christmas came before that last film they talk about as their first CG beginning"
That's not saying much.
Interesting how Max can age but Huey, Dewie, and Louie can't.
You don't want them to. Quack Pack *shudders*
They're going to age in the upcoming DuckTales reboot, hopefully with much better results this time around.
Let's definitely hope so.
have they ever aged Huey, Dewie, and Louie? Just at least one? Well I think it is better that way. Max is suppose to represent a growing teenager dealing with a father who will not grow up. like almost all teenagers, many could relate. that is a main reason why.
Well, they did age in that one Disney show that people don't like, but still it's quite interesting to see that they only aged there. I never really thought of that for some reason.
This just made me realize just how much I miss traditional, 2D animation.
Wow, this looks way worse than I remember it being.
I know right?!!! I used to love this movie! :(
The Ponderer Ikr the animation and morals and stuff seemed way better to me when I was little. I guess I didn't know what consumerism was back then
Unlike hand drawn animation, CG doesn't age well.

I feel really bad for donald in this one, especially with that theory that donalds freakouts are from PTSD. (remember, donald is a sailor in the early cartoons. he served in the navy!)

Who is she? Where's Roxanne???
That's what all the diehard Goofy Movie fans were wondering.
And why is Max adult when Donald's nephews are still kids?
But Roxanne was in an episode of House of Mouse.
Yes. Like I said, at this point, the two are still together. We can assume they were still together in college but not after as Mona is the new girl. Based on "An Extremely Goofy Movie," the two were not too close.
I'm surprised he didn't mention Roxanne
Kurtis Haren I'm pretty sure that Mona is different character from this one..... they act and look a little different from each other
where did u read that?
She wasn't goth, she was a beatnik. There's a a huge difference lol
If I was a furry, Roxanne would be my pick. She was a good character. Why Disney? The injustice. The beatnik girl is kind of eh for me.
That's debatable. Plus if you're going to use stuff like the Lion King, that had a huge budget behind it unlike some other Disney works.
Yep, they could've brought Scrooge McDuck along with them instead and let Donald rest.
How comes Max is growing but Huey duey and louie stay the same age?
Because quack pack.
+First Order Frank that's no excuse
Because the comics in The Netherlands gave a reason which also explains where the mother is.
Who says it's the same Max?
In the Ducktales reboot they're like 11-12 and the rest of the characters in there never aged.
Like the sequel, I grew up watching this one, and RIP Carrie Fisher

Donald Duck and the other ducks actually look decent in CGI.
Pluto looks also decent in the CGI tbh
Yeah, I actually wouldn't have minded if the new DuckTales looked like this with some better modern rendering. I'm glad that it appears to be 2D tho.
Crazy Horse 9000 I think most of the characters transitioned okay. There is a bit of room for improvement, though.
Max is the only one that looked absolutely disgusting to me.
Huey, Dewey and Louie look really weird.
I would rather sit by the fire with a cup of cocoa than navigate a crowded mall any day.
You and me both
You said it! Especially since there’s so many people at the mall during the holidays
I agree. As much as Christmas is my favorite time of the year it can be a little too much for people. Also I feel like the meaning behind Christmas gets lost nowadays because of the commercialism and horror films related to Christmas.
I just want to chill with some cocoa.
Watch some cartoons or WWE
I want to bring up that Donald segment, an episode of Thomas the Tank Engine did this kind of story right in Duncan the Humbug. In the episode both sides have equally valid points in their views on the holiday and both sides have equally unreasonable means of expressing it, with both sides coming to the conclusion that it's OK to have differing opinions as you aren't a jerk about intentionally forcing a side to be the same. It acknowledges that both sides are right and wrong at the same time and tries to find peace.
Oh, come on, Doug. It doesn't look that ba--
0:47
AHHHH!
I give props to the movie for the Fantasia's hippos and crocodiles dancers cameo though (they actually look really decent in CGI).
But even then this is bad with what they did with Daisy.
Wow, that CG looks a lot worse than I remember it.
same here
I'm surprised he didn't mention that the girlfriend he brings isn't Roxanne.
Obviously Max has a type.
Joy Holmes They were going to, but the animators and writers accidentally left her out.
Wait, he disappears? That sucks.
@@monsterhanna6691I heard he made a cameo in the 2017 DuckTales reboot. So there’s hope he might make his comeback.
Right what the hell and you expect me to feel bad for Mickey
Why this movie was in CGI instead of Hand - Drawing Animation?
I don't know, but it looks awful.
nikosafer1 because it's cheaper
nikosafer1 I would bet that it's a lot cheaper and easier to use cgi
becausr it was made in like 2004, not 2001.
nikosafer1 It was in the 2000's, and cgi is cheaper than most hand-drawn animation
My eyes started to burn at 3:10 from this animation.
Yeah, that popcorn looks terrible. That's bad CGI animation.
2D will always be better than CGI
Amen
Hromovlad1 amen
They're just mediums. Both have their strengths and weaknesses.
Ferhog
the thing is, bad 2D usually still looks better than bad CGI
Actually that's a myth. Both cost the same because the pre-production doesn't change with either. 3D is just a trend and big CEOs try to justify shoving in our face by useing "it's cheaper" crap.
I want to mention two things:
1. Max's "girlfriend" is just a person with a dog nose!
2. The song "Share This Day" gives me a lot of nostalgia, and I've never seen this movie very often.
Then again, almost all of the female dogs in the Goof Troop series were just people with dog noses. So it’s not really surprising.

Traditional hand drawn animation is far more superior than CGI .. AND THAT'S A FACT ! 😜
A lot of characters from A Goofy Movie are dogs and they look a lot like humans
@Olivia 757 Willie: “Yeah! What am I? Gigantic chopped liver?”
Also, I really like most of the North Pole scenes. I especially loved the two reindeer that adopt Pluto and their banter.
2:50 Whatever happened to Roxanne? Did Max just forget about her at this point?
In-Story Answer: They broke up. Going to separate colleges will do that.
Plus, how many people end up with their high school sweet-hearts?
Real-Answer: The voice actors are the same for both Mona and Roxanne.
But, the animator had already done the entire story so there was no time
to turn back and change her complexion, hair, eye-color, ect. PLUS, the
story was geared towards Max not wanting his dad to scare off the
girlfriend but, as we already saw, Roxanne LIKES Goofy. Thus, it was
decided Roxanne would just become Mona and it would be played off as if
Max had moved on. Not sure Mona is meant to be "end game" but, as of
now, it seems so. Ma DID mention still dating Roxanne in "Disney's House
of Mouse" but it's believed he was still IN college so they likely
broke up just before or shortly after graduation.
+LeoP2008 where in story does it say they broke up? I'm pretty sure she just vanished
I love it when he told the audience to "Look at it!" 0:52

The real question is "who the hell is MONA?"
Max's Girlfriend.........whom i'm certain we will never see again.
In-Story Answer: They broke up. Going to separate colleges will do that. Plus, how many people end up with their high school sweet-hearts?

Now, aside all that (just to make you laugh): *Italy* always changes the names for no reason (Mickey is Topolino, Donald is Paperino, Goofy is Pippo and the list goes on... again, for no reason!), but they chose to keep *Mona*... I guess because they were too lazy to change her shiny name on the roof.
What's so weird about it? 'Mona', in a mostly used dialect, means 'vagina' (and of course it *can't* be a name, here).
But they thought it was ok to keep THAT name.
BETMARKonTube Goofy's girlfriend
There was a House of Mouse episode where Max and Roxanne are dating in the House of Mouse.
It seems that they are either still together and Mona was a continuity mistake, or they try to get back together.

If thats not popular, i dont know what is, so I think a hand drawn movie in today’s age would sell quite well.

donald sitting on the chair with that cup looking right and obviously has the face of 'i hate you rightnow'. i need that as a picture and gif. it's a perfect meme
I think it was the simplest, so that's why it's so memorable to me
i liked donald's an max's stories
max's story is good to me mostly due to the fact it kinda touchs on max's assholish persona towards his dad. He's always expecting him to screw up before he even opens his mouth

This reminds me of the CGI Arthur movie.
THERE'S A CGI ARTHUR MOVIE?
Oh God I didn't need to know that happened.
+Window U yea it's called Arthur's Missing Pal
Windows U Yep. Shoved out onto DVD, without any of the great writing and heart.
I can barely watch Arthur with the new flash animation now you're saying there's one in CG?
Well their mother was on the moon.
I think they put most of their effort into the ice skating short. Which, back when they advertised this on Disney Channel, was the most prominent part of the commercials. I remember this looking a lot better as a kid though. Although the ice skating one doesn't look too bad.
*Mickey’s Twice Upon a Christmas feels mean spirited and awful🖤💔*
This was the first time Mickey and the gang were in CG animation in a film production, they weren't going to get it perfectly first time around. Blur Animation ( Yes that Blur Studio that works on video games and the Deadpool movie) handled the animation for this since both studios who worked on Once Upon A Christmas were closed when Twice came into production.
Holy shit! I did not expect to see this horrendously cheap animation.
Looks like a disney knock off amateur fanmade porn
It was the best they could do in 2004 for the budget they had versus the tech available
Man, that CGI is awful..
SecretAgentYaya it was, but I always liked hiw Max seems to slowly age almost with the audience he was intended for. not cosmologically always, but still.
Yeah, why does the CGI looks this crystal? It makes Shark Tale look like Shrek 2!
Hey, still better than The Arthur CGI movie
Am I the only one that actually likes this movie? Maybe because it holds so much nostalgia but still, I actually love the stories and the animation.
Why does the animation remind me of a Video Brinquedo film?

I'm surprised he didn't question about what ever happen to Roaxanne once Max's New Girlfriend stepped on the screen.
Fun fact: Michelle Kwan did motion capture for the ice-skating story. Yeah, maybe a little more effort was put in that you thought, Doug.
That just makes it even more lazy. With motion capture, the animators hardly do any work. It's just copying the movement of the live actor.
Trophies I thought motion capture wasn't the same as rotoscope though?
he has obviously not watch House Of Mouse Daisy is kinda absent minded so yeah Daisy being jealous of Minnie in that scene is not all that surprising
This movie was an important movie in my childhood. It actually was released on DVD the day after my sister was born.
Awww
CrimsonID4 You got "Once Upon a Christmas" and "Twice Upon a Christmas" reversed.
Ah, so I do,. Good catch!
It looks like a better version of food fight
Each time I see the Goofy/Max segment in this movie, I wonder what the hell happened to Roxanne! Did she just puff into thin air? 8C Also, I love how at the end of this movie, they play the EXACT same song they played at the end of the first one. And by exact, I mean it's the same recording! That alone should tell you this was definitely a last minute sequel.
I’ll admit, the animation is horrible but I still like it because I watched this a lot as a child, so it’s nostalgic
This movie is my childhood!!!
Doug: I still don't where their damn parents are.
Me: There Mom's trapped in space, and their Dad's running from child support.
Thank god for the new mickey mouse cartoons.
They are so good.
