My takeaway is that v22 has a much more cohesive and polished artstyle, compared to the v21 which has a large amount of kitbashing and weapons from different sources.
I like how BD22 is going back in the direction of BD20, to be a little bit more in line with regular Doom. Also, I really like all of the new sprites and do think they look better, especially the new Thumper.
I think the best thing we received with these sprites is consistency. Previous BD sprites looked way too jank, while a good portion of the sprites looked fine a lot looked badly implemented, the v21 pistol is the worst offender, those reloading sprites are just, please no, while the pump and super shotgun felt very smooth the auto shotgun felt unfinished, specially the reloading being so clunky, the bfgs variants felt way too much like sprites downloaded from the internet without care, because they were. But v22, everything fits with the others seamlessly and has a great semi retro aesthetic that fits Doom like a glove, animations are all smooth as fuck and the sound design feels more subdued in a good way, not to mention small details like the chaingun probably being the first chaingun sprite to actually resemble the pickup sprite. And that's just visual, gameplay wise some of the damage rebalances and new options are just great and feel way more friendly than the gigantic contrast between vanilla Doom and v21, the game does feel more pleasant to play and less obnoxious in my opinion. P.S: I kinda went off the rails at the end, just know these new sprites are fucking great.
Nothing against the music itself, but in a video showcasing the sound between game versions you should only hear audio from the weapons. The tunes make it harder to parse the differences.
The only thing i wish for the Gold version of v22 is... For it to be as mod compatible as v21 was. v22 Beta already surprised me due to the fact that some v21 weapons mods work with it, and that the "Project Brutality Enemies in Brutal Doom" mod works. But some weapons like Blood Weapons and Sniper Rifles that worked with v21 Dont... And the Buck to Slug change special mod doesn't. Also, if anyone knows how to activate brutal doom options in online multiplayer that would be nice info to get
2:50 usas-12 variants trying out sound each other, to the point it sounds like drum beat, or am i thinking differently but thats just my opinion, but dayam, i do like the improvements, some of these guns i do not know what its actually based off (except the plasma and launchers/specials)
Great video, I know your channel focuses on talking about mods, but I have a suggestion for you. Could you make a recommendation for the best maps/wads/megawads? Thank you very much in advance.
So it's just best, and BETTER Imo. Aaaand you're missing the BDv21 revolver, it does use Shot ammo and can be changed for Rifle ammo (it glitches giving you more ammo in swapping between both if you have double ammo activated lol)
Hey, the revolver is in v21, you just need to give it to yourself via the console command give revolver the v21 revolver was strange, it let yous witch between regular bullet and shells. unloading the auto shotgun in v21 was buggy as hell, nice that they fixed it. also i still much prefer v21 chaingun because it felt more powerful.
How does Version 22's rocket launcher work? You can see that he loads the rockets on the side with no visible feed mechanism. So they're just chilling on the side and somehow teleport into the chamber every time you pull the trigger?
I always prefered Brutal doom platinum over v21, but v22 rivals it now. Especially since quite a few of the v21 addons will work with v22 ( plus I can also use the upscale sprites from the brutal doom platinum V 3.1.1 to make the addons look gorgeous ). So I can more or less have a huge arsenal for V22 And the sprites on v22 are second to none. Fantastic.

Amusingly, the sound design is still taken from different sources like the AA-12 firing sound from Killing Floor in v22.
@@CodyDBuniSound design could be taken from 100 different sources and still be done right, original doom used a lot of free sound effects
Wolfenstein player is that you?
Actually no, there's actually a lot of stuff taken from different and public sprite sheets. That hasn't changed.

absolutely 😏
9 seconds in and I’m in love with intro song….ANNNND there’s DooM?

wow thanks man 👍
Man i cant wait for v22! Also nice choice with nikke ost
Love the v22 weapons, but I've been wondering if I'm the only one who's had my rifle or AA12 jam occasionally, and if that's intentional or not lol
I hear Nikke OST. I see you are a man of a culture
I don't play Nikke but I heard one of them is a fucking Doom (named "Boom" because copyright laws) addict

I love the new weapon aesthetics. Blends so much better with the rest of the game.
The shading on the new sprites is incredible! I wonder if the creator used edited renders of 3d models, because it looks so good!
I want to see what these look like with x6 xBRZ texture resize and linear filter on. "The only time filtering looks good in doom."

the sniper rifle is now in the mod as the "Marksman rifle
also brutal doom can run in zandronum
You know, I never saw a weapons comparison between all the major Brutal Doom versions. It could be a cool and original video, in my opinion.
I'll try, thats a great idea by the way thanks a lot 👍
lets hope that one guy updates brutal mod 3d weapons for VR
The feeling of almost every weapon has greatly improved with the 22v.

Everything is improved except for maybe the beretta pistol. Maybe smooth it out a little more in the final version.
This intro was sick !!
I like the v21 Shotgun & chain gun better myself. Hopefully someone ports them over to v22
l agree the chaingun doesn't look a chaingun anymore it's too bulky in my opinion
For some reason I like v21 more.
thats why it's gold 😆👍
I still prefer v20 over v21
Brutal doom v22 is great and all
Brutal doom v21 is the godfather of all brutal doom editions
I can Say they opposite either.
black edition is based on v20, project brutality is based on v20, tomtefar's extension was originally based on v20, ali's brutal doom is based on v20
didn't know that but thanks for the new idea

And unmaker too!
It's still the test build, a lot of weapons are not finished yet
The v22 pistol looks like a Beretta m9
it's intentional.
Can you test the pubg guns from like the version with resident evil zombies?
