An often ignored category are the small daily driver hatchbacks which were super reliable to drive and easy to maintain. Today such cars make a lot of sense for an enthusiast who wants a car which he can build and use on a daily basis.

Thank you guys for bringing such unique content. Talking about JDM cars, my father in law once casually mentioned about owning a daihatsu terios kid few years back. I have never heard of such a brand before, they had some old pictures of the car and i was really astounded by the uniqueness of it. Unfortunately its current whereabouts are not known. Wish i could have some real JDM experience in the near future
One of those episode which brings back childhood nostalgia!! Used to spot a lot of starlets during school days!! Starlets, green corollas and coronas were common imports those days. A relative had a mid 90s corona. Spent hours checking it out and was stunned by the features and comfort! (Electric folding mirrors were cool even on early 2000s 😜 and even cooler considering it was offered in a '95 model car)

1N turbo..excellent engine…my dad used this gem of an engine in Maruti 1000 and deawoo ceilo..those were the days…if I remember correctly …25/ltr was the mileage on diesel.

Thanks for bringing this car into your series! I had a question about the engine sound (starting from @8:00). The engine is running at a constant rpm? I felt the sound as if an AC compressor is turning on/off? Toggling between idle rpm and a constant "drive" rpm. I understand that this car has a low-revving diesel engine coupled to a torque converter automatic.. but still?

It's sad that Toyota is reduced to making badges in India. It's amazing to see a no nonsense automatic car in the affordable segment in the 90s.
People do a video on why other Japanese manufacturers like Mazda and Subaru aren't considering launching any cars in India.

Had an opportunity to be a passenger in a Starlet while at Colombo. The owner had modded with an exhaust and man it was loud! We used to go up and down streets in Colombo scaring people.. :P
