I saw all of these reviews pop up around the same time from different channels, but yours was the one I clicked on. I could, and often do, listen to you talk about guitars for hours. Your guitar playing is also top notch my dude 🤘😎🤘
Very cool that they have an MIM version; it makes so much more sense at this price point. If I were playing rhythm guitar in a bar band, this would definitely make sense to me. Would be able to do pretty much everything necessary with just that and an acoustic amp.
I’ve watched several videos on this specific guitar. This is the best video for information. I just bought one and it should show up today. I’m excited to challenge myself. I plan to spend the entire weekend jamming. Thanks
Love your videos Jeremy, but a lot of guys are getting this wrong. It has the piezo and the single coil, and that's it. The transducer supported the middle position on the American version.
Playing in a few cover bands & duo acoustic, this more than peaks my interest. Why? Sometimes there isn't a second guitarist. So a song that uses acoustic & electric, I sling both, which looks & feels awkwardly cool...lol. Not looking to replace my acoustics or electrics, but to have a blend for live gigs is a game changer. A Boss EQ before amp is on my board going into a wet & dry amps for live. Great video demo and the mention of strings was very important, asI use Martin 80/20 bronze 11-52, which are brighter than D'Addario's I've used for years. Love the Martin strings...🎼🎸🎵🎶👍
Wow. Your review was excellent. I believe this MIM will be my preferred one. I will play one and I predict I will save up and get one. Your coverage was excellent and thorough. Thank you.
I am glad they made a player series of the acoustasonic. I wonder if and when they will come out with the strat and jazz master in the player series. Also the only bummer to the player series is no body sensor for percussive playing.
I gotta get one of these...great video Jeremy. I reckon an eq pedal like a Boss GE-7 would solve the eq issues quite easily and affordably and most guitarists most likely already have one lying around.
It sounds like like it is it's OWN guitar and not something else as are some of the other acoustasonics which at times can sound like a flawed version of a great acoustic or a flawed version of an electric. surprisingly ... This sort of has it's OWN sound. It is a good sound too! Also the white is kina kool and keeps it from looking cheap which some of the others can. It is sort of it's own thing.
Nice review (and playing). I'm liking these the more I hear about them. I just have to figure out a way to afford one. After watching a number of TH-cam reviews, I've come to the conclusion that the best amp set up would be using two amps, maybe something like a Deluxe or a Princeton for the electric pickup and then a dedicated acoustic amp for the acoustic sounds. I'd first plug the guitar into a pan pedal like the Electro-Harmonix EHX Next Step Pan Pedal which would give me two outputs to work with (one for each amp) and have specific (and separated) effects for your electric sounds and your acoustic sounds. Then you can pan between the two amps or blend them. Not having a tone control (on the guitar) for the electric pickup is kind of a bummer, but I think it's something you can work with once you get the right pedalboard setup (maybe use a wah or some kind of tone pedal as your tone control).
Fwiw: I'll make on odd comment about why I'd want one of these. I play ambient music with a rig that includes an old school Roland MIDI guitar synth. I have an extra MIDI pickup laying around that - for the sake of variety - I'd love to put on an acoustic guitar, but that would require stringing it up with electric guitar strings, and this guitar seems built for the job.🤔
Thanks for this review. I just bought a MIA model . Playing through Loud Box mini amp. So far love it. Very polarizing Im sure. The finish looks and feels nice. And I love mahogany for sound effect. Had many guitars using this wood. Got a sooo nice classical late 60s Martin at the same time asthis purchase using sa
If I ever get to own one of these, I will swap out the piezo undersaddle pickup (which I cannot stand) in favour of a K & K cntact pickup, which gives a far nicer sound. Otherwise, these are great guitars. It's also worth a look at the Fender Highway series guitars, which are very similar to the Acoustasonics, and in the same price range of this MIM Acoustasonic Tele. BTW for me, neck dive is not a problem because I tie one end of the strap to the neck (just behind the nut) with a bootlace. Quite why everyone doesn't do this, I have no idea. Maybe it doesn't suit their image or something. But if doing what I do was good enough for Joni Mitchell, then it's good enough for me.
I‘ve seen about all the reviews on this out there, and yours adds value for the community. :-) That said, I think one point you mentioned a couple times is slightly skewed: The A and B settings on each of the three positions do not really equate to „unvisited“ and „boosted“, as you said for the Tele sounds (and later for another setting). Instead, they amount to two separate modeling sounds. In the case of the Tele sounds, one is cleaner and the other dirtier (and louder, as you point it). Actually, both Tele sounds and both acoustic sounds are models - not just plain-Jane pickup sounds. The 2nd position of the switch is more like straight piezo (good for folks who want to shape that sound via their pedalboards, much as they would for any other acoustic guitar) and a dirty, distorted piezo sound (not sure how they made that one). Beyond this, I‘ll add that I owned (and liked) the American Tele version of this. Bought it back when it first came out. Sold it a few days ago…in order to buy the Mexican model! Why? Mainly because I actually prefer the sounds chosen for the Mexican version, especially on the acoustic side of things. On the American version, I found the acoustic sounds a bit too „hi-fi“ and in some cases brittle. The Mexican dreadnaught sound is warmer and woodier. And being able to dial in a bit of the smaller-body sound to add crispiness is a great option. Also like the piezo and dirty piezo sounds. Never had much of a need for the extra body-sensor sound on the American model. While it added „wood“ and allowed me to thump on the body, it also sounded a bit boomy and unnatural to my ears. So the simplicity of the Mexican version wins for me. Oh, and its electric sounds - though a bit on the dull/muted side as you point out - will probably work better for me than the ones on the American version, esp. running through my pedal board. I‘ll be using the Player guitar into my JBL PRX One as one of about 3 guitars for my otherwise acoustic gigs. That will enable me to do some gritty material, too, and to widen my acoustic palette with some extra flavors. The guitar is also very easy to play, making it a great choice for certain songs played further up the neck. By selling the American one and buying the Mexican one, I made a little money, too, which is nice. One downside of the Mexican version: It seems the wood used on the neck is less dense than on the American version, and this seems to be causing more fingering and sliding noises to be transmitted. Will first swap strings, though, to see if that can be improved a bit.
I just bought a MIM one. I actually prefer the 9v battery and 3 way switch. If they made a US version like this for a few hundred more, I would have went with that one. Not a fan of anything USB with guitars.
Hello ! So Nice video. I have purchased one. Do you confirm that there is more "air" noises on electric mode ? Just to be sure that this not an issue on my guitar. I never had an amplified ones before.
The acoustic setting might sound more like a mix’s acoustic guitar if you were to play it through an acoustic guitar amp or DI through a PA. NIce review. It will be interesting to see if Fender does an Acoustasonic Player Jazzmaster next. I LOVE my USA Acoustasonic Jazzmaster. IMHO it is the best of the Acoustasonic series. It is much fuller sounding, and the acoustic sounds are more authentic - especially when played through a Fishman Loudbox.
Cool guitar! I’ll try it out. But the video quality blew me away . Excellent presentation and camera work! Jeremy, you are constantly improving , great work my friend!
Not for me--right now, anyway--but it's a cool guitar and I'm glad it's on the market. Fender have obviously done their homework, and having this variant made in Mexico was a really good idea. Now it'll be accessible to a lot more players.
I'm a little confused why you would demo a primarily acoustic guitar through an electric guitar amp. I don't think it did the guitar any justice. Would like to have heard it through a Fishman Loud-box or similar
I just ordered a sunburst version from Sweetwater after viewing this (and several other) TH-cam videos. I'm an acoustic player and only have a Fishman Loudbox mini amp. How will this sound through that setup? What are your thoughts on stringing this up with Elixirs?
Thank you for the video ❤ Can you please tell what should be a proper distance between strings and fretboard on Acoustasonic player with acoustic strings? Mine are almost at 1/4 inches at the 12th fret and it feels to high. And if it is, how to lower it? If you can help me out, I would be forever grateful.
Adjust the trust rod with the provided wrench. Go slow. Righty tightly will lower the strings. Go lefty if you get string buzz. Or take it to your local guitar shop if you are not confident of your own guitar adjustment skills.
Thanks Jeremy for another outstanding video! I was kinda hoping you would run it into an A/B switch to split between your acoustic and electric amps; some tones seemed to prefer one over the other and a quick comparison would have been appreciated. Keep up the awesome work!

Nice! Great offering from Fender. I just bought an American Acoustasonic Jazzmaster, but if this had been out at the time I bought it I would have been really tempted to go this route.
Great info. When I saw telecoustic I thought you had sold out. That is definitely not the guitar from a decade ago . The video makes me ant one. I have a 90 Santa Rosa mij Fender acoustisonic that is keeper.
hom much does the battery last? I saw in one video the battery last only for 22 hours,is this true? because if it is that's a katastrofy, I change the battery one in a year on my yamaha and play almost every day on summer, with this one i would haave to change it every week,no way I would buy this
I used this one all of the time for several months and it never died. There's also a battery pack on the back that is quite easy to change out quickly. The big thing is to not leave it plugged in, like all acoustics
I've played one of these at a music store and just like your video they sound muddy in a mix.. if the battery goes dead during a song , so does your sound.. I play strictly Fender telecaster and fender amps but this one just seems bass strong

It's true. It still has some book from the under saddle transducer but not like the jazzmaster.
But that's how they managed to get the price down!
I gotta get one of these...great video Jeremy. I reckon an eq pedal like a Boss GE-7 would solve the eq issues quite easily and affordably and most guitarists most likely already have one lying around.
I bet you're right! Use the link in the description if you're buying one from Sweetwater and I'll get a small commission.
I have the shadow burst and uses the fender preverb pedal
What a duo!!
Just plug it into a helix or a head rush or something eq issues solved. Customize some IR’s for it and your set.
I would say as far as amp to run an hx stomp or helix. Gives you more options, control at your feet. Could have acoustic and electric settings.
That's a great idea.
