Never thought id see a metal guitarist playing a Ben Howard song. His playing is so underrated and incredibly difficult in its own right. Its such a different style than most metal music. Truly impressive to show such skill in very different technical areas of music.
It's easy to explain. Metalheads, who aren't posers, can't make some truly cool music being inspired by only metal. Ore of metal are classic, jazz, folk sometimes, random sounds heared somwhere else. Now it could be forged of almost all of electronic, samlpes of random sounds (f.e. cats makes breakdown), different styles of music. Those ones, who don't look arround at another music won't go far.
Metal musicians who listen and play only metal most often end up sounding like a derivative of the most popular tropes taken from what is currently modern in the genre. Boring, predictable and self-indulgent, a cog in the ever ending production of copycat music who quickly fall into obscurity. True musicians, who happen to play metal as their preferred method of artistic expression, usually have something more to say in the genre and more often influence it and get their heads above the mediocrity. You can easily tell that from the current influx of -core, djent and tech-death bands who all sound basically the same, religiously copying their inspirations, not understanding that those bands who started it all in their sub-genre were listening to a lot more than metal (for example - in the case of bands like Death and Meshuggah mostly fusion jazz) and revolutionised the genre by incorporating it into their sound.
Check out more by Ben Howard, most everything he does is amazing... I am just discovering HER, her voice is lovely, and she is very talented at the guitar, and metal? Must check out more for sure...
He was immensely popular but he’s gotten more and more strange as the years gone by. Which Ive loved every one of his releases. But it’s understandable that people who loved old pine don’t follow him anymore.
@@apothecurio I think he had some serious health problems ( I heard he had a stroke) so maybe that affected his music. Also, I think he never pursued fame, and wanted to do the music he wanted to write.

I love that your acoustic videos have this haunting, dark, luring atmosphere. I feel like walking in the light rain, hearing the wind caress the trees, embracing the sensation of vast loneliness - and yet comfortingly cozy somehow -, admiring the blue and yellow lights tinted on the tarmac.
