they are knot immature. If anything it's the opposite, it takes a certain amount of maturity to be able to wear a crown as such.

I have noticed once a freeformer cuts there dreads, for me there channels lose relevant's....as though the revolutionary person went away and they became a "them".

a person's overall motive for growing their dreadlocks will determine how long they'll let them grow.

I’ve been growing my hair for over 7 years now and I’ve become more mature over that time. We just live in a world that has a Eurocentric centered focus, but I’ll continue to be more Afrocentric based.

It’s a great stepping stone for some to embrace more natural parts of themselves, and yea they may not see it as a forever thing..

my question still stands firm and unanswered by most who i ask, "who or what OBJECTIVELY dictates what is professional or not"?

I think the most immature FREEFORM dreads have to be the ones who never owned or purchased a tam . The care for the self is really what defines it . At the early stages it's all about product and growth . But By that time they're already missing the mark . The dreads should denounce materialism and vanity . But I digress . Nice post Johnny .

i trillion percent. these aint for everyone. u have to embrace them as YOURSELF and a true part of the physical identity. i usually see western minded folks cut them because of all the various programming and peer pressure etc

Nature can never be immature...to conform and bow is the proper term nothing to do with growing up.. we can be free and pave a way as natty freedom free form or we can give in and sell ourselves to the system and the ultimate price is our appearance first then our principles they will want to take next then our ethics now they win another robot but to each their own journey and choices

They are far from mature but are for the mature- people who can handle what comes with them. My issue with free formers is that most see themselves growing locs as being on a journey. But a journey has a destination. And usually free formers who advertised their ‘big chop’ are quite loud about being on a journey this journey that. I think one should just grow their free form locs and not equate them with some journey they are on. Hope my comment makes sense.

Thanks for this video, we hear this all the time!! Of course its not immature to have freeform locs its about wisdom, it takes patience to allow your hair to matt and not pick with it. I think the youngsters who get them to rebel it is a phrase for them, they need the fade so they can go to college and get a job. For me personally, my locs are a part of me. Cutting them would be a choice not anything to do with being immature. Im more mature and established now then I was years ago. ❤❤❤❤ Keep Going

Hope all is well. I am a month into this journey and I started it from the opposite view. I started this from a maturity standpoint. I am maturing by growing freeforms to uncover who I really am, let go of what others think of me, be able to choose a job or career for who I am, skills I have and not by letting someone decide if I am right for a job or career because of a hairstyle or look. I agree with everything you say, but at the end of the day you have to be yourself and do what you want to do, otherwise you will live with someone else telling to what is right based off of their beliefs. One love.

Personally I don’t see it as immature. I think most people change their hairstyle multiple times throughout their life. Sometimes to keep up with what’s ’in fashion’. Sometimes as a type of transformational sign. There are a myriad of reasons in between. Now, what they get on social media and say is the reason is generally for views IMO. Saying ‘Cutting my freeform locs for spiritual growth’ will probably get more attention than ‘Cutting my freeform locs bc I saw this other hairstyle I want to try’

Actually dreadlocks are the first "hairstyle" (ofc I'm kidding there is nothing bout hairstyle..) Freeform Dreads are dating back way back as some people think. before RasTafari movement. It's hard to tell from when, because for sure in ancient years many had em, but some of the earliest information is in ancient India, yogis called - jattas, which freeform their hair and never cut it. Dreads are not for stupid people. ❤

Man I know a lot of you feel disrespected by white people having dreads/dreadlocks but anyway as one who has it I must tell that in Poland, my native country, having dreadlocks (and in my case being 6'5) equals instant attention from all these close minded people especially older since I live in a small town and Im known since I was a kid. I manage myself and dont complain about anything more but shits weird around here.

    Keep your culture
Dont be afraid of the vulture
    Grow your dreadlocks
Dont be afraid of the wolfpack
Rastaman live up. Bob Marley and the Wailers
I find this relevant to what youre saying and it is my sentiments shared on the matter.

I don't think so. But I can understand what you mean by more younger cats on here are growing up and just moving through life. But from all the years I've known dreads when i was young it was always older heads who had them and they always had deep meanings behind them. Stay blessed Johnny TheDred

how very unfortunate it is that most of us dont think that way anymore. thats why these young boys will always cut em cut them. For the most part their motive is very superficial, short term and rooted in vanity
