This is gonna be so annoying for the format. Just nullifying a fourth the cards in your deck is going to make the format extremely slow. You either run this and both players have a slow game, or you don’t run it and lose to anyone who runs it. Not a good card. The format is gonna be boring because of this.
One day TCG creators they want game faster because it’s dragging, the other day they introduce Budew… I hate it personally, it will drag the game even more
I played against banette item lock at a cup on the weekend. Its was painful to play against. I do not want to play in a format where every deck has item lock
I’m all for slowing down the format, I don’t see why this didn’t wait till after rotation because after rotation the Game is already slowing down so much. Loosing all that and the addition of this I fear will make the game a little to slow
My immediate thought is that this seems like a pretty big W for the Thorns/Dragapult deck. It already wants to go second. Precious Trolley + TM:EVO will be live going second, so nothing to worry about there. You have a stage-1 draw engine and already don't play rare candies. One of your best cards in the deck is Crispin, so you're using your supporter to accelerate energy. The deck only really loses Radiant Zam to rotation, and some folks seem willing to cut that card anyways. Ceruledge, or any deck that plays Jet Energy, can theoretically play both this card and Scream Tail EX to be annoying going both first or second.
@@jamesh1815 yes Dragapult is the new favorite child of Creatures. I haven't seen a deck that has received so much love in a short period of time as that one.
This card is good for the game. It makes decks chill with their un-checked super fast momentum. But Budew surely makes the game more interesting. Also grab a couple Bruxish SSP as soon as you can.
Evo decks can stop your items as well keep that in mind. It's like giving everyone a gun, it all cancels out in the end. I see this as a good addition to Zard ex decks. Counter catcher + Stamp + Item lock is punishing when you cannot evolve a Zard immediately after it got K.O.'d. You simply repeat all until you draw into a copy of it and start rolling. Budew forces many decks to manual attach.
useless against zard they can just charmander knockout your budew. Now you can't use magneton. The zard matchup isn't even about them setting up too early. You're aimint to getting an iron hands knockout t1 anyways.
I think having a slower format sounds great, but this is such a bad band aid fix imo, will just be frustrating and make the game insanely coin flippy coz very often one of the two players will just be forced into a brick and not be able to do anything while their opponent sets up their board and wipes them with no resistance. The game being longer doesn't mean anything if you would be better off just scooping anyway.
@fabbae215 it is the Path + Roxanne child. However this one is a bit easier to implement. Creatures's card designers have print several bad cards in a short period of time . I think they fired someone important.
The biggest thing in comparison to other item lock is that it just gets knocked out. To me it’s just a bit too easy to use. I do much prefer baby pokemon to offset the prize trade than self-KO pokemon like Dusknoir and Magneton.
So I do agree that this will help in the sense of slowing the game down as there is to much turbo decks going on with heavy use of items. I don't think decks that use rare candy would suffer since a deck like charizard can adapt and run tm evolution and grand tree to help get to there stage 2's without rare candy. Budew looks awful now but once people adapt there decks it won't be as big of a problem as it seems to be right now.
The moment you switch out and K.O. you don't item lock them anymore, hence they can respond K.O. Additionally, they can have an inclusion of Budew as well...

This card is so toxic. In expanded this card will revive those dark days playing against trevenant and seismitoad ex. The fact you can use marshadow gx to use this card attack plus the huge amount of dmg mods. Like bruh bad days are about to come
I think this is definetly a welcome addition, currently if you don't have almost everything setup by your second turn you pretty much always lose, now you can at least slow down your opponent to have more chances to draw into the cards you need and they can do the same to you, however you will still eventually need to attack and withdraw your Budew, but since you probably have already done everything cards like rare candy will be significantly less useful whilst cards like tm evo are going to be essential, but also locks you out of blocking your opponent. I think overall it will make the game more fair and interesting and knowing when to block your opponent, when to evolve, when to attack are going to become extremely important to win, as well as what to put into your deck, since putting more than 1 Budew in your deck is just locking you out of other stuff and having more than 1 is basically useless, but if it gets knocked out your opponent is now open to do anything, including blocking you out of something like night stretcher or superrod, but since getting rid of Budew is not guaranteed, specially because of the need for tm evo, for example, their deck is probably not built with having easy access to Items in mind, meaning that the simple possibility of Budew coming out completely changes the entire game and everything surronding it.
@derekjeter3654 I don't think so, there any many things you can do that aren't necessarily related to items, sure if you aren't ready to not be able to play items it will be a massive headache, but there are many ways you can get rid of the Budew in your first turn going second, it literally has 30 hp, and if you go first, they wasted their 1st turn going second attack to block you, giving you more time to do things if you setup your deck properly, which I think is the main point of Budew, force the deck building meta to change, not even necessarily the gameplay itself
All I'm saying is I'm gonna be playing whatever the hell counters this demon of a plant seedling thing if it's a large portion of the meta. The only thing I like about meta defining cards like this in games is playing whatever hard counters it!
