They missed the point, the technician couldn't find him because he wasn't giving his surname but his first name only. 6:25 Internet did take 3 days when I moved the last time. Nowadays companies are not able to afford to take much time or the people don't use their service. A friend even got a free 5g mobile router until they were able to connect his ordered landline connection.
Yeah it is BS. Ich habe bei der Telekom angerufen und hab direkt gesagt bekommen das ein Techniker ein paar Häuser weiter wohnt und die Tage vorbei kommt :D
Meanwhile the garbage collectors in our city dont empty the bins if they see that the trash is sorted incorrectly. Then the house maintenance has to take extra care of that situation, which cause additional costs, which are passed to landlords, who in turn pass it further to the tenants. Being inconsiderate comes back to you, or more precisely - to your wallet.
@@Sciss0rman Yes, because you paid for a certain volume of trash. If it doesn't "fit" into the can, you have more trash than what you paid for. Though depending on where you live they usually aren't that picky if it's just a tiny bit and just occational. Where I live we have essentially two flats and one upholsterer (Polsterer) on the bottom floor (who is the owner of the house and my no1 childhood friend) and we have 3 trashcans. We generally distribute our trash over the 3 cans. Technically every household has one dedicated can, but my neighbor and myself we are single and don't have that much trash. So it's not really a big deal to essentially share the cans. We know that we should not "overfill" the cans so of course we distribute the trash. No big deal. Though we live in a relatively small city. In larger cities they usually apply stricter rules because additional trash adds up and the worst thing for the trash removal company would be to have the truck filled up before you reach the end of the tour.
I moved several times in Germany over the last 20 years and I never had issues to move my internet connection. When I knew the moving date (which is usually about 3 month before actually moving because of the cancelation periods you have when you rent) I called my provider and they switched things seamlessly at that date. No technician needed to show up for that. But then I am not with the "Telekom". My mom and dad are and they had nothing but problems when they moved a couple of years ago. So it seems it depends on the provider and maybe also on the area you live.
Telekom is the worst. Luckily I don't use them, but every time relatives of mine are in a Telekom shop they have to wait for an hour (yes, literally an hour!) because while there is money for lots of pretty glass displays for all their gadgets, there apparently isn't money for more than one clerk to (wo)man the the shop. Good way to show where your priorities are, Telekom!
The point with the internet connection is partly true - it depends a lot on the provider you have chosen. I had signed the contract with my provider in the morning and 24 hours later I was on the Internet. Especially with the provider with the big T, it often takes an eternity for a technician to be seen. Germans look in the calendar to spontaneously go for a coffee? Then In which country did I live for 20 years? 😂
how long it takes to get your internet doesn't just depend on the provider: it also depends on what kind of internet you are going to get. If it is a DSL connection it may depend a lot on the actual availability at your current adress (since a lot of the telephone lines are still owned by telecom and if you are at a place without capacity it can take a very long time, it is also usually the offer with the lowest max speed If you are getting cable connection it usually gets done pretty fast. even if you need a tec-installation it's usually done within 2 weeks... unless your provider has to get a confirmation from your landlord that they are allowed to do a tec-instalation, then it can take 6 weeks or longer if both sides take their time in communicating properly, high download and usually pretty stable but with not very fast upload Since Fiber-connection is the new go-to (and just getting installed in a lot of places) if it is available the wait-times are usually short, high down- and upload but with the least overall availability... god bless your poor soul though if anything outside of your control breaks because repairing fiber glass is a nightmare compared to how easy copper can be repaired (which is used in DSL and Cable connection) Connection via mobile data is probably the quickest way (often done the same day if you happen to get the contract in a shop where you can take your mobile router with you) but also unfortunately the most unreliable when it comes to connection quality Source: 2 years of customer service for Vodafone Germany
i personally never had bad experiences with that. i heard from friends things like that happend (but more in rare cases). had a few provider (incl. the 2 biggest), never had to wait longer than maybe 1 day. although i announced me moving and needing another connection a few week before actual moving, so most times i had no waiting time at all.
The bottle and can collectors can make some money by collection and returning the "Pfand-Flaschen". If you walk around with open eyes, you can make 100-150€ extra per month. Some "pro" collectors go to (music-) festivals and are often even spending money for the tickets just to collect the bottles there. It's mostly their second "job" and they make additional 10k a year with it! Not that wrong or strange! Everybody needs a new coin from time to time! :)
the trash factories and their specific machines and people working there have big problems to sort the specific trash and it will halt the system, brake machine system and will be expensive for the citizens monthy payment, if the wrong trash type is in the wrong container and its not good for the environment either. the monthly payment for trash picking is high and people dont want to get it higher! if green or brown glass is thrown in white glass container, the whole white glass will become useless to recycle! and shattered glass pieces in all sorts of colors and glass qualities are hard to seperate. white glass is expensive to recycle. jaywalking is bad bc in germany kids use public transit and part of surface movement, and adults have to be at all times rolemodell, only migrants jaywalk in germany, when observed someone jaywalking.
The thing about not separating your trash properly can lead -- worst-case scenario -- to municipal trash-collecting services REFUSING to empty trash cans which haven't been correctly sorted. Especially with recyclable materials. That's why trash cans are color-coded: brown for biodegradables, blue for paper, yellow for metals, plastic, styrofoam etc, and plain grey for everything else. (There are large containers set up for glass at certain points in a neighborhood ... also separated into green, clear and brown glass. And don't forget to remove metal or plastic caps!)
Yep, seen that happen, and I love it. I've got neighbor who simply order extra yellow bins (because those are for free!) and dump everything in there unsorted, even bio-degradables. Very fitting: they also have a huge garden with lots of plants (and a couple of newly planted trees known for strong roots right next to the fence) but _no compost bin/heap_ . Instead they buy a car full of peat-based garden soil each year (good-bye moors! ) when _you can get perfect compost for free at the recycling center_ . Made from garden waste, not by tearing up some of the few remaining moors in Europe. Yep, that hits all my tree-hugger berserk keys.

Ok to the "you're in the way" topic. If there's room for the actively moving object (walker) then it may consider walking around. I mean if you're not standing in the middle of the way, just... don't bother other people. I actually find it considerate to step to the side of the way if you have to take a call or need to answer a e.g job mail asap. i mean.. .it's freaking few centimeters xD + the walker is the active object.
I laughed so hard because of the second situation. It IS so normal in Germany that people gonna pass you and throw one sentence at you without even stoping like "you can go out of the way too you know that" or something similar. Or things like "don't look at me that way" or for example if you are on the phone in the train it could happen someone says something like "the rest of us is not interested in your phone call you can do that later" that actually happened to me one time. Or one situation even that happened to me: I was working late shift so I was on the train really late and there was girl on that train too that was crying and had a bloody nose. So I went over to her seat and literally was just asking if she needed any help maybe she needs to call someone or you could help her get home safe or whatever. But she actually got mad and was like "fuck off and care about your own problems" Was just trying to help but well...
I think planing things ahead and put it in a calendar depends is also heavily influenced by your current life circumstances. People are different and some always loved plan while others hate that. But if you and your spouse have full time jobs and 3 little, planing becomes way more important if you wanna meet other people. You just can't be as spontaneous anymore like you were in college and your biggest problem was how big the hangover from last night's party will be.
Here I have to briefly object that the night's rest is not regulated in the building regulations, but only listed. In Germany, nighttime rest is a term used in noise protection and is regulated in the laws of the federal states, e.g. § 9 Para. 1 LImschG (state emission control law) of North Rhine-Westphalia. In the event of clear disregard, the police or the regulatory authorities (Ordnungsamt) can also be involved. While these usually warn loud behavior the first time, serious violations can result in an administrative offense and thus a fine. In this respect, it is even polite to visit the neighbor with a request to be hired. Another form of noise protection is the midday rest (1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.), which is no longer regulated by law in most federal states, but is now purely contractual in the building regulations for the rental agreement. The only exception here is the federal state of Bremen. The building regulations for the rental agreement can also stipulate that instruments may only be practiced for a limited period of time. The latter cannot be banned completely and there are also exceptions for the rest periods. Noise from craftsmen who work in the house at regular working hours must be tolerated during the midday rest period. So it's all about private, avoidable noise. But there are also small exceptions for the night's rest, for example employees who come from the night shift are allowed to shower before they go to bed and neighbors have to tolerate this. The so-called room volume applies to all other activities during the night or midday rest. Noise such as music, television, household chores, conversations, etc. must not leave the apartment so that third parties are bothered by it. In Germany, more than half of the population has been living in often older multi-family houses with little noise protection for a long time, so that this has long been regulated by law. New houses often have better noise protection and are no longer as noisy.
Actually if you plan to move in germany you have to call your provider at least a month before moving and tell them your new address so you don't have to wait for your connection. I don't know why but it is kind of a law here. If you tell your provider on your moving day you won't have the connection immediately in your new home and have to wait. How long the wait will be depends on your provider but it will take at least one or two weeks minimum. But you can check online if there is a connection aviable from you provider. So you know if a technician has to come over or if they can handle it from a distance. Which is also important for your waiting time. And let me tell you this: if a technician has to come to your home you better take the day off because the time slot when he will come is often from 8 am till 6 pm. Sometimes you get lucky and the technician will come right away at 8 am but most of the time it's about 5 to 6 pm. 😅😂
If you drink the bottle or can in public and don't want to take it away yourself, then put it next to the bin, it's ok... it's a little courtesy to the people who collect the bottles and cans, so they have to don't dig it out of the nasty garbage.
The thing with the internet got much better in the last years. 2 days ago I applied for Internet and they sent the router and it'll arrive tomorrow. As soon as I plus it in it'll be activated
Well, I think being able to be spontaneous does not necessarily mean that you can't plan ahead. I plan things weeks and months in advance, but can also be spontaneous and just meet people 5 minutes after we talked about meeting each other. But everyone is different, so if it does not work out for you to plan ahead, why bother.
9:00 It kinda makes sense for the German to speak English and the other way around. Think about it. You know all the words in your mothers tongue, but with a second or third mlanguage your knowledge is limited. So a German might have a better chance to understand an American try to speak German than American. At least at some basic level. Also, a German speaking (British) English might be better to understand for an American than German, especially if German is spoken with a local colorit.
Regarding cyclists passing by: legally, cyclists have to be on a cycling lane or the street (there are rules that cyclists don't have to use a cycling lane that's not in good condition), so if you're standing right next to a cycling lane: nope, cyclists are not all going to ring, same way that cars on a street don't honk to remind you to not step blindy onto the road. Part of the reason is: to some pedestrians, a cyclist ringing at them feels aggressive. I still do it when I see that somebody is distracted, e.g. lost in their smartphone, because somebody yelling at me is still less stressful then somebody stepping straight into me.
2:50 As an eventmanager I ask myself for years why groups of people form blocks or rings at the most narrow point of a hallway or any comparable situation. My best guess is that it has something to do with a cave=security reflex as a mammal.
Worst thing foreigners can do is joke about the 3. Reich. We have almost no patriotism and haven't overcome the past. Even though we do a lot to get there being called a Naz! while you absolutely despite their idiology is no fun. We don't go around and call Russians communists or Americans fat dummies or ... the list goes on. Every country has their stereotypes they would rather shake off. Great Videos by the way. I like your style.
"Worst thing foreigners can do is joke about the 3. Reich." This sounds as if you're never allowed to make jokes about WW II, the 3. Reich or the Holocaust which is imho not correct. But there's a time and place for such jokes. If you're out with your friends and everybody is joking around then you can make jokes about this - but they have to be funny which many imho aren't but I've heard many good jokes which made me laugh a lot. What's not funny and not appropriate is to tell such jokes to a person you met 5 minutes ago because you think it's funny to provoke a reaction.

I'm realy sorry to say this, but putting someone in your calender is not to make them feel special. For me and in my surrounding, it simply is a helpfull tool. As you know, we germans hate it when we are not on time or, even worse, forgot about a date. So I always use to say: what is in my calender, I do know. Since Fiber-connection is the new go-to (and just getting installed in a lot of places) if it is available the wait-times are usually short, high down- and upload but with the least overall availability... god bless your poor soul though if anything outside of your control breaks because repairing fiber glass is a nightmare compared to how easy copper can be repaired (which is used in DSL and Cable connection)

Drinking beer in puplic is no problem because beer is actually just liquid bread
If thats true, then the other way around must be valid as well. Next time I go to bakery, I'll ask for solid beer
lol 😂
That's what german ppl like to say because basicly bread and beer have the same ingredients 😂 so it's kind of a "german saying"
I've never encountered anyone checking the trash. I don't say that this never might happen, but this is probably extremely rare.

I love your reaction :D You may be very German inside xD
9:00 It kinda makes sense for the German to speak English and the other way around. Think about it. You know all the words in your mothers tongue, but with a second or third mlanguage your knowledge is limited.
So a German might have a better chance to understand an American try to speak German than American. At least at some basic level.
Also, a German speaking (British) English might be better to understand for an American than German, especially if German is spoken with a local colorit.
Regarding cyclists passing by: legally, cyclists have to be on a cycling lane or the street (there are rules that cyclists don't have to use a cycling lane that's not in good condition), so if you're standing right next to a cycling lane:
nope, cyclists are not all going to ring, same way that cars on a street don't honk to remind you to not step blindy onto the road.
Part of the reason is: to some pedestrians, a cyclist ringing at them feels aggressive. I still do it when I see that somebody is distracted, e.g. lost in their smartphone, because somebody yelling at me is still less stressful then somebody stepping straight into me.
I can't confirm that with the internet...I live in the countryside in Bavaria 🤷♂️
Darmstadt, 2,5 months this year
Yes cleaning your nose loud was a thing my brother always did. I mean you could hear him a mile away.
Reich."
This sounds as if you're never allowed to make jokes about WW II, the 3. Reich or the Holocaust which is imho not correct. But there's a time and place for such jokes. If you're out with your friends and everybody is joking around then you can make jokes about this - but they have to be funny which many imho aren't but I've heard many good jokes which made me laugh a lot.
What's not funny and not appropriate is to tell such jokes to a person you met 5 minutes ago because you think it's funny to provoke a reaction.
this is sooo true with the trash, happened to me as well 😀
Oh absolutely, we practice our english
No doubt about the internet 😂😂😂 it took 5 weeks for us
I'm realy sorry to say this, but putting someone in your calender is not to make them feel special. For me and in my surrounding, it simply is a helpfull tool. As you know, we germans hate it when we are not on time or, even worse, forgot about a date. So I always use to say: what is in my calender, I do know. On the other hand: I forget about things, when I don't put them in my calender. So as you see, putting someone in ones calendar mees that we simply try to be as german, as we can. ;-)
I'm not even joking when I say *3rd world countries have better Internet connections than Germany, AND the prices you pay are also some of the highest you could imagine*
greetings and love from Germany...well, most of those topics are just not true. The "Easy Germany" channel is crap.....
Zum Großteil Halbwahrheiten und Klischees...
this woman is very dubious, she tells a lot of bullshit, when I came to Germany I had in 3 days my phone and internet connection
It's our second amendment. You can run around with a bottle of beer in public. Because you can't drink out of an AR 15.
Gehweg heisst nicht umsonst Gehweg, und nicht Stehweg.
I've never understood what the bags are supposed to do. as if not everyone knows what's going on :D
PS if you are in a Group (3 or more people) is NOT legal to drink...
At least in the city center or pedestrian zone aka shopping street ;)
And it is a LAW to be quiet after 10. NACHTRUHE! :D
And I learned at home to go outside the door to blow my nose. I guess not everyone has the decency...
Many BS in the Videos of this Woman... Everytime i see her i know she just talks BS 80% of the time.
Thats Not True. Drinking and Smoking in many public spaces is Not allowed. But nobody cares. Like Smoking Marihuana in the Netherlands.
