Thanks for the guide, some setups cause problems on Steam, I found the solution as follows, I installed the game I was going to install on the window, copied the installed game to USB and copied it to Steamdeck, added the exe to steam and managed to run it that way.
I wonder if there is a way to use bottles to install it and then copy over the games files from there. I am having issues with some games. It goes through the install but then it doesn’t seem to save the install anywhere on the steam deck file system

Did you get it to work? iirc Automata ran like ass on PC in general without a fix. I know I had a bad experience with hardware that was well beyond the recommended specs

I followed Aliens method but with a .iso mounted. Long version: never played or heard of this game ever before watching various TH-cam list covering the game and I was interested. But im coming from being a regular console gamer, I don't know the level of what is trash to you, also never even dawned on me to look past the menu screen to see if it even ran til just now. But I fired it up just now and it was pretty sweet, my spaceship turned into a mech, and that blew me away! So give it a shot and maybe you'll know how to set it to your liking (and share them tips in case im running garbage)

Your steps still works for me. Steam needs a better approach, installing games like this is very sloppy. A keyboard is needed for sure. The onboard keyboard will cover the typing area.
This is not how you would install a game that you bought. This is piracy stuff, you either put up or shut up and buy the game from the steam store so that you dont have to do all of this.

Was weird because it launches on PC and the Steam OS recognize it but still required purchase... but I kept getting ERROR 1 launching the game. So after researching more, I found my .iso copy, mounted it and found that setup.exe file i needed to complete your method. And it worked flawlessly 👌 I need a huge favor, I searched your channel , do you have a tutorial to setup Xenia on Steam Deck? try other versions of patreon when you get to the part force compatibility layer and keep trying till you find one that works but failing that not all games will run on the deck.

@@kylelee1014 Yes, my problem was being unable to find the installer version of the cracked game. Like I said for some games I could only find the one that came with the whole folder. The solution is to find games from gog unlocked, those allow you to download a single exe file that installs the games instead of coming with a zipped version of the whole folder.
I was running at low settings and I didn't change anything else. I no longer have the steam deck due to getting Legion Go so I can't go back and have a look.
Hello I have a question, i installed some exe game files on my sd card. Everytime i try to launch the game i get Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime coming up.i did install visual c++ and i put the directory in the Steam game properties but it won work. Any sugestión ?

So im trying out this method for elden ring using fitgirl, managed to get to the point to setup but it seems to be stuck unpacking, not even past 0.1%, not sure of the reason why unless anyone else here knows?
i was able to install god of war with this method from fitgirl repack but now i cannot install batman arkham knight. error shows checkransum error i tried installing dbz kakarot with fitgirl error shows insufficient ram/internal storage which doesnt make sense
this is another way to add games yes so drop the games folder and add a non steam game and point to it's exe and then test a few different proton versions. It is very much a trial and error system with non steam games.

Hi. is there any downside to installing the repack on a Windows PC then just copying the installed folder with the .exe file over to the Steam Deck?
you can do that and i have seen loads of videos with people doing it and i can't see any downside to it.

Buy a new ssd or sd card
you will have to install the game on pc instead of the steam deck, after that transfer the game folder to your steam deck

You dont really need to copy the installation files to steam deck. You can just setup the game from the external drive.
How did you do that? You just open the setup.exe, on the external SSD, from the desktop, or you put the exe on the steam library ?

Any fix for the game will run at first but a couple hours later it will just crash and the properties folders will have the target completely changed
