  • Here is an in-depth comparison between the MJJC Foam Cannon Pro (V2) and MTM PF22.2 Foam Cannon. I’m looking at the foam thickness/ consistency, and the different features of each foam lance and letting you know which I think is the best option.
    The MTM foam lance was purchased by myself and the MJJC was sent by the brand to review around 1.5 years ago. All my opinions expressed in the video are honest.

    - BH Touch-Less used at 2 in 5 dilution (200 ml into 300 ml water)
    - Stjarnagloss Sno in MJJC = 52 ml to 448 ml water
    - Stjarnagloss Sno in MTM = 90 ml to 410 ml water

    Great video Heather. The MJJC V2 is a fantastic cannon, we were offering these under our own brand last year before the distribution rights were awarded to another company. The only very minor downside is the flow rate, they certainly burn through product very quickly. As you pointed out though, this can be counteracted by adjusting the PIR. Aside from that, they are amazing cannons.

    Hi Heather, I purchased the MJJC cannon last year based on your recommendation and demonstrations. I couldn’t be happier with it. I honestly think it’s pretty much bomb proof and easy to strip and clean etc. it’s certainly head and shoulders above other cannons I have had in the past. I can’t see me ever moving away from this product unless MJJC bring out an updated version which is even better. Great video H. Recently changed from the Autoglym Polar Blaster lance, which I liked as a home hobbyist (and got for only £30), to the MJJC V2 and the latter is just SO much better with its foam spread and adjustability. With a K4 I use 200ml of BH Touch-less with 450ml water and the results on a strong dial mix setting are stupendous. Barely need any contact wash as the dirt disappears after the first rinse with a 25 or 40 degree nozzle - on well protected cars that is.. Absolutely delighted with it all.

    Really good comparison Heather. So thorough and well produced, you are putting other channels to shame! I have 3 MJJC cannons which are used extensively. I really rate them the selling point for me being the wider neck. I always carry a spare bottle with plain water (any bottle will do, you dont need to screw it on) to flush my cannons at the end of each day. This way I keep them clean and dont need to empty the solutions. Why 3 cannons? Well one has B/H touchless one Koch Auto Foam and one KKD Blizzard. What i use depends on what the customer wants, how dirty the car is and how good the paint is. All these products have their own merits. I also have an AutoGlym cannon to apply my trusted Koch PW (Protector Wax) which is a great way to quickly lay on protection & shine and a nice up sell that is popular with my customers. Worth mentioning here that on my Navara which i purchased new in April I have only used Koch AF and PW. (no shampoo). (Can you tell am a BIG Koch Chemie fan?) The paint is swirl free and has great shine for a truck that really works hard for its living! Top Work here yet again from you

    This is easily one of the most comprehensive, easy to watch, comparisons.
    I’ve been considering an MJJC and although both cannons have their Pros and Cons, the MJJC’s ability to produce a wider range of foam from super thin to super thick just edges it for me I think!

    • @AutoCareHQ
      @AutoCareHQ  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks very much Craig! Yep the MJJC definitely seems a bit more versatile with the option to either have that very quick drain rate or dial it back a bit. I don't think you can go wrong with either but with the MJJC having that wider neck and the fact it's about £15-£20 cheaper I reckon it's the best option out of the two

    • @AB-80X
      @AB-80X ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Can I just point out that the MJJC does in no way have the ability to mix a thicker foam vs a thinner foram. It's all in the premix. What the MJJC is poor at, and what creates an inferior foam, is the dry foam that is less aerated. See if you mix them so that the PIR is the same, the drag of the MTM foam is leaps and bounds ahead of the MJJC. And even if you dilute the MJJC foam so it drags better, you end up with a lower PIR, which is bad if you need the high PIR.
      If you for example use Auto Foam as a prewash in a 5% PIR, the result you get from the MTM is better vs the MJJC with a 5% PIR. Also, if you turn the adjuster fully counter-clockwise on the MTM while it has a 5% PIR premix, you get way below 1% PIR, so adjusting it to be thin or thick is never an issue.
      There's more to foaming up a car than just laying on useless shaving cream.

    • @thedetailinghobbyist
      @thedetailinghobbyist ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AB-80X not sure what you mean about them ‘mixing’ thicker vs. thinner foam. If it’s to do with my comment, I said the MJJC can produce a wider range from thicker to thinner.
      Regarding PIR; a lot of cannons have different draw rates so 5% PIR would normally always be different in terms of chemical volume.
      Many companies don’t state a PIR so in that case you can easily adjust the thickness of the foam however you please using the adjustment, especially if it is simply used to extend the dwell of prewash

    • @AB-80X
      @AB-80X ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thedetailinghobbyist You are misunderstanding PIR then. PIR is used so that it is NOT different. That is why PIR is a measure that is used in the high pressure cleaning world outside of car detailing. If PIR is 5% it is 5%, no matter what machine, foam lance or other dispenser you use. What you describe is the complete opposite.
      Let me break it down. My MTM pulls 560 ml for every 9.5l of total output per minute. That means 8940 ml of that output is pure water. So for ever litre of my lance I have an output of 14965 ml of pure water. So 5& of 15965 is 798 ml or 800 ml for the sake of it. So if I fill my bottle with 400 ml of chem and 100 ml of water, I get a 5% PIR.
      Now I have another lance from 26JPN which I primarily use for coatings these days, which is basically the same as an MJJC, but now with a 1.4 nozzle. For every 8 litre it pulls 660 ml. So a pure water output of 10100 ml for every litre out of the lance. That means 550 ml of chem for a full bottle or 275 ml chem and 225 ml for half a bottle if I want a 5% PIR. What ends up hitting the car is the EXACT same ratio. Yes, obviously you could potentially fill the entire bottle with soap, which would be absolutely ridiculous. I've spoken to Maguiar's, Chemical Guys, Auto Glanz, Gyeon and others who's products I use to get an understanding of what PIR they go for when they make their recommendations. See the issue is that BH is the only company that specifies PIR, which is a bit of an issue. But none of the above who all offer a heavy type foam for contact wash etc. want you to use a PIR of more than 3%. A 3% PIR is incredibly high for a thick form like a Sticky Snow, Maguiar's Ultimate Snow, Mr Pink etc. and they will start to have issues doing their job. So what's the point of the MJJC being able to pull that fast? Both can deliver a higher PIR than you'll ever need, but while doing so, the lower flow of the MJJC lowers the CU value which is directly proportional to flow which as Heather demonstrates is abysmally low for the MJJC. I can foam a car in less than 30 seconds with an MTM.
      And now we get on to what was my next point. When both the MTM and the MJJC is set to the same PIR the way the MTM create the foam means that the product is more efficient and works better. Why? Because the foam coming out of the MJJC does not have the ability to penetrate nor pull down the dirt as well as the lighter more aerated foam of the MTM. This is not so much about PIR, but rather the actual quality of the foam itself which THEN relates to the PIR because the same amount of product put on by one lance is more efficient than the same amount of product from the other. Yes you can then lower the PIR and not get a foam that is quite as dry and thick, but you end up with a lower PIR and thus less cleaning ability from a chemical reaction standpoint.
      So as like Heather did here, they need to be compared putting out the same PIR and then we need to look at what the foam laid out actually does. That's what you pay for with the MTM. Anyone can make a lance that pulls a ton of solution, that's not a bit deal, and what MJJC relies on for their wow factor. But how that mix is aerated and laid out is what actually shows the quality of the lance.
      Are there other players on the market than MTM and MJJC? Absolutely. But MJJC is really the only ones that take the approach they take. Can't blame them. People are eating it up without asking questions because they think that the thicker the foam, the better the result.

      @thedetailinghobbyist ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AB-80X looks like your explaining exactly what has been said 🤷‍♂️
      I stated 5% is different based on chemical volume (I.e. 5% of 10k isn’t the same as 5% of 15k) due to draw rate and you’ve explained exactly that 👍
      BH aren’t the only company who specify PIR, just for info.

    the key selling point for me between the 2 when I was upgrading, was the wider opening of the MJJC, I felt that one of the major annoyances with my old canon was getting fluids in quickly and I really didn't want to be dealing with that in a premium canon if I had the choice 🙂👍

    • @AB-80X
      @AB-80X ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What a lot of us do who use these often, is to simply premix.
      Getting the soap into the bottle is no longer the issue then, the entire process of even having to mix it is annoying and waste time.
      What you do is to have a 25 l jug with premix that has a tap on it. Then the opening is no longer an issue. See that's the thing about the MTM. They made it for professional use, and most professionals and others who wash several times per week use this method. In this situation the small hole is stronger, less prone to stripping and just overall work better than messing about with two big plastic threads.
      In short, each has its use and place. And if you think having a big 25 l jug is too much? Premix in a 5l with a tap on it. No more mess and 100% consistency.

I've already decided on the MJJC but have heard a V3 is on the horizon so holding off for now to see what that brings, problem being I have no cannon at all atm. Great video packed with things I hadn't thought about but all re-confirms my thoughts in what i want in a foam cannon, at least, the MJJC is the way to go. The wide neck is a mandatory feature, if I'm spending that, I'm done with getting funnels and wet hands from using it.

      The new lance that’s popped up recently is the version 3 of the MJJC S which has been around for a while at the same time as the MJJC Pro. For some reason the MJJC S is barely stocked at any distributers especially in the UK so it’ll be interesting if it becomes more common with the new V3!

    I share some of the same concerns about the MTM. Plus mine leaks a bunch of solution out the nozzle when lowering the concentration knob past 4 notches from max. I will say mine produces much more foam that yours did using the MTM with a 1.1 orifice and a Ryobi 1600psi electric pressure washer. I've used Gyeon Foam and MTM's Perfoamance (30mL), both producing shaving cream-like consistency.

    Good video, I tried the first MJJC one and just bought the MJJC V2 and been waiting for right weather to try it, I paid £38 for it over the Black Friday sale, was only 10% off but better than nothing, I like how the bottle has a big opening so no funnel required, that’s one thing I hate on other lances where you can’t use it without a funnel. weathers been horrible and I been away over Christmas so haven’t had time to wash my car, hopefully tomorrow I’ll get to try it or the next day, I’m looking forward to the thick foam, noticed can get replacement bottle for the MJJC Lance for £9 from china, which is good as it’s nice to have a spare or just use 2 instead of washing the bottle if you want to change liquids, you can just fill both up ready before you start the car wash

    Got both, use both, both good. Mjjc makes thicker foam but seems to sheet off, the mtm produces a slightly thinner foam and makes it cling better to the paint due to this. Is thicker foam better- it's debatable. I find the MTM easier to use while applying the foam but the mj easier to fill due to its wide filling neck but hard to see the markings on the side so I'm still using the measuring beaker so there's no advantage of this. Mjjc feels like a more premium made product but will it last longer, probably not. I can't decide which I prefer so both are staying, it's always good to have x2 encase one brakes down.

    Not long had the mtm Heather and still getting used to it. Agree that maybe you need a bit more product in the mix to get the desired foam, but after the garage therapy forensic review debarcle and the way in which their foams work, I wanted to ensure I didn't have a dry foam too thick, with foam having good wetting ability, I avoided the mjjc. Mind you I agree the wide neck filling is a better idea on the mjjc. Time will tell though....

    • @AutoCareHQ
      @AutoCareHQ  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can't go wrong with either to be honest. The MJJC has more potential for thicker foam with it having that faster draw rate but it's a bit harder to dial in a nice consistency with some foams like the GT one. The MTM is a cracking foam cannon and the consistency is always spot on

    • @duyvu8662
      @duyvu8662 ปีที่แล้ว

      You know that you can adjust the top knob for desired foam? If it's too thick, you can adjust that but if it's runny foam you can't improve it much so MJJC is still more flexible

    • @AutoCareHQ
      @AutoCareHQ  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah the MJJC is probably more versatile in that respect as the flow rate can be adjusted to a greater range compared to the MTM

    • @AB-80X
      @AB-80X ปีที่แล้ว

      @@duyvu8662 Wrong. Just premix in the MTM so that the PIR is maxed out. It can always be done. There are no actual snow foams that will need to be non-mixed. Most heavy foams for the contact wash will rarely need to be more than 1-2% PIR and then you're laying it on super thick. If you use a prewash like the Auto Foam which calls for a max of 5% PIR, that's not an issue either. The only thing the MJJC allows you to do is to use too much product while providing you with a dry foam.
      Also the dry less aerated foam of the MJJC is much less effective at dragging off dirt, especially if the PIR is the same between the two.

    • @AB-80X
      @AB-80X ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Get yourself a jug of 5l, 10l or 25l with a tap on it. Premix your foam in that. Depending on what jug size you choose, you can mix in that large jug once per year, and every time you fill your flask there's no mess and it takes only seconds. Mix it to the highest PIR you'll think you'll ever need, then just use the adjuster to set the amount of foam for the job - that's what it is there for. And the great thing about the MTM is that it clicks so you can actually measure out how many clicks give you a specific PIR. It doesn't get any easier once you've gotten that sorted.

    I have the Griot's BOSS Foam Cannon which is similar to these two in build quality and price and an extremely good cannon on producing foam. The reason I went with that one was the fact it offered the "metering tips" so you can directly hook up other product bottles to the foam cannon itself and dispense using an automatic dilution feature. It also works in the traditional method of putting product directly into the bottle. I also got the entire kit which came with the accompanying chemicals and one of their PFM microfiber drying cloths. I suspect MJJC may actually make the BOSS cannon for Griot's as it looks very similar to the MJJC Foam Cannon Pro. The bottle portion and cap look identical.

Then I just let the towel air dry. I don’t put it in the drying machine or on a radiator as the heat can cause the microfiber to harden

    Was curious...do both cannons have the same size orifice? If not can you retry this experiment with both having 1.1mm orifice? That would be interesting

      Yep both have a 1.25mm orifice

    I have both and the MTM with an aftermarket 1.1 orifice is much better than the mjjc pro. Also, the MTM it's best looking.

    I have a worx hydroshot. It's one of the best of the battery powered ones, but it's so weak that it can't even pull snowfoam out of a Halfords cannon, let alone that MJJC. Tragic really. Still, better than a watering can. Interesting video, thanks

    Hey Heather…the neck design is a big deal to me. I hate having to use a funnel on my MTM. It’s an extra step that’s a pain

    You should be a brain researcher, the amount of detail is astonishing, well done! I own the MMJC V1.5 for over 3 years now, works just as good. The MTM is for sure a more premium product.

    MJJC foam pretty good BUT it could be too dry in some stituation and could scratch your car if it's too dirty.

    Cracking video Heather, thanks. I have the MJJC, the karcher one and one from Autobrite, the karcher never gets off the shelf. I use MJJC for snow foam and if I put contact shampoo through a lance, use the autobrite lance. To he fair, the autobrite one is decent and good value, especially because it came with some Magifoam. I see MJJC have brought a new lance out in the US, it'll be interesting to see of they have dialled out those little issues, if they have, it'll be a stonking bit of kit. One question, and I appreciate you'll use your MJJC far more often than me, once a week at most for me, but can you give an indication on how often you need to dismantle, clean and replace the filter?

      Thanks very much Lee! Completely agree about the Karcher foam lance, I had one and the quality really is lacking compared to the aftermarket options.
      I use my MJJC a couple of times a week and after 1 year I took it apart to check it but it actually didn't need cleaning. I always rinse it through with water after each wash which definitely helps so I think as long as you do that you'll probably not need to do it that often at all

    You will go thru product alot quicker with the MJJC. MTM will foam a whole car, with half the amount of snow foam. Was it the same size orifice in both foam cannons?

      Yep definitely a big difference in the drain rate. They both had a 1.25 mm orifice in them
