@WestysAngling very little sense pal, how can a fishery with those sort of fish in not have a net dip 😳 beggers' belief, to be honest. The fishes welfare is the number 1 consideration, and what Rob did is what any experienced angler would have done 👍
Glad you made a video about this lake. I keep seeing while i go to other lakes on a day sesh or afternoon after work but can't get close to see enough without getting on the bank itself. 👍
28.50, "a few bleeps on his rod." Strurgeon often take the bait and just sit there, sometimes the line to the rod top tightens and you don't get anything out of the alarms. You should strike at any unexplained beeps or movement of the line. More often than not you will hook a fish (in the mouth). Don't just wait for runs, they aren't carp. It's hard to get out of the carp mindset but you will catch more fish if you can do so.
Just arrived in northampton for my yearly carp trip nice bit of early morning viewing after a lovely meal out n a few beers. 48 hours at a new venue this year, off to doddington lane pits 50 acre moon lake tomorrow morning and look forward to watching part 2, fingers crossed for a few bites.
I used to fish here 31 years ago when there was only one lake. Robin Fletcher was the owner. Willow Garth was the first lake I believe. I used to fish with my mate called Daniel. It grew arms and legs in a big way….

Hiya, real good video, what a fish brilliant, I like the way you guys cared for it. Did you find out why there was dead fish in the lake, was you not suspicious?
Cheers Barry, we think it's because of low oxygen in the water, we went when it had been really hot and not rained. They did have an arator but refused to put it on so we was told!
@WestysAngling we just got back from fishing a lake in walse that holds a 200lb sturgeon over 100lb catfish and some fairly large sized carp. Hope to bump into you one day.

Hi Matt, fishery pellets only, usually means - but you can use ANY on the hook !! I've watched "Big River" sturgeon fishing on Telly, and they go for a Dead bait - or maybe even a Sea Fishing, "Crab Cart" would catch ? 🦀🎣
Well done lads and congrats Rob, sturgeon is probably my favourite species. I don’t think this is fishery that I want to visit, small swims, dead fish’s, people walking around and 33£ for a night cmon that is ridiculous price!
yeah i have fished it a few times living only 10 miles away and alot of it is poor fish handling, holiday makers etc catching fish they have no idea how to land let alone handle. Ultimately it reflects poorly on the fishery but it is more about the angler and their ability. Tight lines.
I'm not into fishing lakes like that.... That one looks ridiculous with the blue water ...there's a fish anti-fungal chemical call Malachite Green. .used in trout and salmon farms for treatments...a few drops can turn a pond blue really quickly...Fungal infections are usually caused by ,stress, overcrowding, higher water temperatures, lower oxygen levels etc... Fish are so easily stressed ,,that they become very poorly if under constant pressure... Personally I would have shut that lake for a month to relieve angling pressure, and allow the fish to heal and recuperate... If those fish have been poorly handled at times like mentioned, any damage will just give the fungal infection a big helping hand ... Using aeration is an idea, but that lake is kinda small for that noise all day ... Hope the owners manage to get the lake back to a nice balance..Maybe only allow fishing to people who know how to handle fish properly...Fish cost money after all...Carp aren't cheap ..
Really made up for rob thats a cracking sturgeon. Not sure if youd be interested in catfish but theres a really good cat lake called darrenth long lake the average size is about 50-60lb there are cats in there to just over 100lb. Would live to see you and rob tackle that

I saw an otter in one of the match lakes when I was at Woodlands Lakes a couple of months ago. Maybe this is why there were a few dead carp in the margins of the lake Westy was fishing ?
I did check for indications of otters on the dead fish Marc, because I had also heard they had an otter problem. No damage to them. My intuition points to death from lack of oxygen. The carp were grouped around what little weed was left after the blue dye killed it off. The weed gives off oxygen.
I stayed in a lodge at Woodlands Lakes for a few days in July. Although I didn't fish the specimen lake, I walked around it and chatted with some of the anglers.
