How do like the cup holder? Can you get full turn without hitting anything? Does it hold solid? We have the same sea to sky as you.thanks was looking at these drink holder for me and the wife.
Hey piratepete117, Nice to hear from you. On our last trip, the cup holder worked well. There was no interference at all. I did, however, alter the mounting some. Where the screw goes through the plastic, I placed the screw through the highest portion of the upper slot. This allows the weight to hang instead of topple. This would make more sense when you see how it's shipped. I also had to drill the slot ever so slightly to allow the screw to fit. Go carefully here. I then added a washer that was slightly larger than the screw head to provide more of a holding surface. All this can be completed with basic shop tools. The only thing I noticed that might seem problematic was my knee would sometimes bump it. A simple adjustment was all it took to swing it back to vertical. So far, so good. The thing I really liked about the cup holder is that it was adjustable. Different sized bottles were no problem. Cheers, Mike
I forgot to mention in the original post that I bumped it getting on and off - not while seated. There was no problem while seated or steering at hard over. I hope this clarifies my omission. Mike
Hi practicalplinking6133, Thanks for stopping by. I can understand your thought process, but from a legal standpoint, you're wrong. As a retired law enforcement officer, I can say definitively, regardless of manufacturer, trikes are treated as motorcycles. You'd be hard pressed to convince me that the owner of a triked Harley doesn't consider his trike a motorcycle, aka bike. What do you consider a bike with a side car? With all that being said, I certainly respect your right to having an opinion on the matter. Please share this with your buddies, I would love to hear their opinions as well. For that matter, I welcome anyone chiming in. Bike or not? Take care, Mike
@@aegismotoadventures1616 When yer using one of those, be it with 3 wheels or a side car, and keep up with a Bike through the mountains then I'll agree. AND, what the law classifies them as has no bearing !!
I see you have a strong opinion on this topic. So be it. You do realize here at Aegis Moto Adventures, we have been riding the TAT on our adventure bikes? We've ridden across streams and mountain passes. I will agree with you that there are different styles of motorcycles based on use, but they are still categorized as motorcycles. Likewise, some pickups are designed for heavy construction, some for family driving, and some for Baja racing. They are all considered trucks. Check out our other videos if you like back country riding. We've done plenty. Cheers, Mike
I did a video on this very topic. It’s a motorcycle (a cycle with a motor), but “bike” is short for bicycle, meaning “two wheels”, so the Spyder is not a bike, though I still refer to mine as a bike out of habit. It’s a trike, a reverse trike, and a motorcycle. But not a bike. Again, I still occasionally refer to my Spyder as a “bike”.
Hi Spyder Minimalist, Thanks for throwing your opinion out there. I really do enjoy having people read through the comments and keeping the thread going. Here in Florida, we have the old people tricycles. They have a nice basket in the back and are quite popular in the retirement communities. We also have many recumbent tricycles here. My neighbor has two. One for his wife and one for himself. These adult tricycles are commonly referred to as bikes. I wasn't trying to stir up controversy on the thumbnail text, but mission accomplished. Ha. In using that text, bike, I was merely using a colloquial term that is commonly stated to refer to motorcycles as well as bicycles, including three-wheeled versions thereof. The truth is, the word bike was easier to fit into the thumbnail and description. I never considered the term to be controversial. However, I stand firm on the legal description. I can't say every country worldwide classifies Spyders as motorcycles, but here in the USA, they do. Can my Canadian friends sound off? For registration purposes, are Spyders considered motorcycles? Thanks for stopping by. I would love to have you as a regular commenter. You're thoughtful and fair. Take care, Mike
Nice
