Kenny Thomas proud Boilermaker out of Pittsburg pa local 154 retiring in June I would do it all over again to all of my fellow brother and sister boilermakers be safe and God bless you all
local 69, arkansas, 2nd year apprentice, this videos shows some of what we do but not all. only certain people can make it in this career no doubt. but as for me there would be no other career. this video opened my eyes on our history and what our brothers and sisters of the past done to the difference we do today. UNION STRONG.
My grandfather was a Boilermaker Rrep During WW2. He died during mid contract negotiations in Green Bay, WI. Details of is death are sketchy, yet his lineage lives on; not just as a family of Iron Workers and welders but the concept of solidarity that this country seems to lack so much these days.
my great grandfather was an Irish boilermaker he was payed very well and had 5 sons but drank a wee bit to much. I have no connection to boilermakers now as I grew up the son of a german farmer my mother being the Irish one but my brother is a masters degree machanical engineer with a MBA who is employed by one of the worlds largest engineering firms ABB based in Switzerland my other brother is a manufacturing quailty & safety specialist who is a fantastic tinkerer. so I suppose it's some where in the blood not so much the drinking anymore thank goodness that was 100+ year tradition we could have lived without cheers to the German and Polish side for smoothing that out. lovely video. o yea my uncle is a machinist and my grandfather was a rail road engineer. when you think about it the apple did not fall far from the tree. cheers for giving a New Irish America there start so long ago. I suppose working the coal mines was not so bad for my great great grandfather it bought him his farm which must have been a dream come true for a poor hungry Irish immigrant that came alone on the boats. now I am the uncle to a little Irish Mexican cutie sparky kid and so it continues. cheers to boilermakers.
Retired 6 th generation Boilermaker. Father worked in Australia, Grandfather worked for Starrets on the high steel as a Riveter and great grandfather for Baldwins at their loco works as well as Swindon here in uk.
Thanks for posting, that hit home. Choosing to be a Boilermaker isn't an easy option, it can be a rewarding one though, thats taken me around the World, put a few quid on the hip too. Still learning, still figuring out solutions to problems, onwards and upwards. More power to our elbow. Abide Dude.

+krowanders im in a trade school learning to weld right now, working on tig on plate and 2g pipe with stick, going to be finished in real soon. how does somebody get started as a boilermaker? its something i really want to do now, i just dont know where to start.
+daniel ainsworth Find a local boilermaker union. Call up the office and they'll tell you everything you need to do. You didn't even need to go to school, really. The apprenticeship assumes you know nothing, and teaches you everything. And it pays. I decided not to do it. The closest union to me was a significant drive that I couldn't make every day.
NTL checking in... wait i got absorbed so that would make me 374 Indiana but i had to beg them to put me to work so my current spot is 92 Socal which is cool cause at least of they don't work me i can sleep on the beach year round

Kurtis Whitmire what do you mean only certain ppl can make it
@@illbiteyourear lol you've gotta able to travel and for everyday for months. Boilermakers aren't 40 hour work week pussies
@@illbiteyourear most people can't do the work. Most people making money like that get hooked on drugs and don't make it through their apprenticeship
